  1. He's actually doing pretty good They are transferring him out of iCU and up to the neurology floor this afternoon.

The longer I was there, and the more people spoke to him, the more he was able to say. The doctors asked me to sit in on their assessment of him and his condition and I didn't understand much of what they were saying. They really talk in technical terms. You have admire anyone that becomes a doctor. The neurologist says he will be home in less than a month which includes a couple of weeks at the rehab he was in for a month in January 2017.

I asked him if he remembers what happened and he claims he got a bad headache suddenly and felt bad "all over." Then he said it makes him mad. When I asked what made him mad, he didn't answer - he started talking about Fiat automobiles. So you can see his attention span is short and he has a hard time focusing long on any one thing.

He's also very agitated and has to be one of the worst patients ever. He did the last time too. He's always trying to get out of bed and pulling tubes out and disconnecting monitors.

The downside is that on account of what happened the last time, he was a different person. He lost his maturity. That's the only way I can describe it. He became impulsive too. He was embarrassing to take anywhere; he would open up closed doors and snoop around and do really inappropriate things. The last time his stroke was on the right side of the brain - this time it was on the left.

Also, and this was the most devastating to me, it was hard to have a conversation with him. He was hard to follow. I don't think this stroke will have helped improve matters.

No, it probably will not improve matters, but it seems like it will most likely not make them much worse, if any worse at all. He seems to be doing very well for someone who just had a major stroke and should get back to pretty close to where he was. My prayers are with the both of you.

I'm the one that has to adjust to it and I've never been able to. I must resign myself to it now. I hate the phrase, but this is my "new normal."

I feel for you, you should try to find some sort of support group for people who are going through similar types of situations as you are, or any type of support group. You need to make some friends, or even just one friend that you can share your frustrations with and also just have normal conversations with.

  3. The nurse said he's doing well, and he can read and comprehend what he is reading, and he's good at yes and no answers.

I'm going to the hospital in a couple of hours. I'll assess him myself. I'll check his memory. If I ask him who the president is and he tells me Al Gore, I'll know we are in trouble. ;)

He may be living in an alternate universe where the impeachment hearings only have to do with climate change.

  4. Most sports have more teams than ever, which means more games than ever, which means more refs than ever. I remember the NHL in the seventies and I knew most of the refs by name and they were mostly all top notch. Now there are so many teams that the level of quality of the refs has gone down because they have no choice but choosing some refs who are not as qualified, I couldn't name one ref in the NHL these days.

Only one I remember by name was Leon Stickle. Blind m=therf-cker. :)

No Andy van Hellemond? I'm not even a huge fan and I remember him.

Oh yeah, I remember him also. You see, I can not name one today. I think the fact that they did not wear helmets also makes them more memorable because you got to know their faces better.

I can remember Bob Hodges and John D'Amico and they were both top notch.

  7. I figured that I would tell you guys a little story about "My Name Is Earl" and how it related to me back in January of 2006.

Hey "My Name Is Earl" just ended on the boob tube!

Anyway for the last couple of years my mother in law takes the whole fanm damily down to Newport Beach for a week to relax by the beach or to hit Disneyland with the kids.

It just so happened that when we were down there in January of '06 Universal Studios was doing a one month promo for the TV show "My Name is Earl." If your name was Earl you would get free admisson into the park and a "My Name Is Earl" T shirt and hat.

So we all went to Universal Studios for a day. I had to show them my driver's licence and I got in free.

As we were leaving I picked up the shirt and hat and Sponge Bob Square Pants was following us toward the exit. I turned around and showed him the hat and shirt and told him that I was an "Earl." He looked at me and the bowed down at my feet. Pretty funny. Guess you had to be there.

Not bad for a guy (meaning me) who has been picked on his whole life for such a nerdy name.

    That's life!

Anyone for some Dungeons & Dragons?

Want to play with my Star Wars figures?

I have a Hot Wheels Sizzlers Fat Track set up! Want to come over and race?

Want to listen to some 2.gif ? I have every 8 track up to "Moving Pictures!"

I have a great HO scale train set. Want watch trains all day with me?

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

    RUSH ON!

    Sincerely,

    Weird Earl Al

PS: Some of those questions are true. Some are false.

I don't understand this post, NOT ENOUGH CAPS!!!

  8. Ok, I guess I WAS stoned. I remember liking Opium better, though...

    :o

I'd be interested in hearing this story, if you feel like telling it, ORF!

I've only ever had opium in hash (in the mid-80s in Halifax). It was called "Kashmir", and cost around 20$/gram.

My friends and I did about 3 hot-knives each (gross, I know) and were pretty baked for several hours. We listened to a Pink Floyd bootleg which sounded as if it was recorded underwater, and laughed our asses off.

Those were the days! I remember doing hot knives on a pretty regular basis back then. It was mostly hash around back then in Montreal. You could still find pot but most dealers sold hash. These days the opposite is true.

  9. I think Season 5 (if I read correctly the final season will be split like Breaking Bad was) airs in February next year. Although this might just be on UK Netflix. A million plot points to resolve and as always with Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, whenever I try to anticipate what will happen next I`m waaaay off. Hope Kim survives though and that incapacitated Hector can still cause some more trouble.

I don't know about that anymore, I actually saw a few of the things in the Breaking Bad movie coming. I was a little disappointed that I was right because I was never really right before when I anticipated things in Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul.

  10. When is it coming back? Loved how the last season ended.

I still haven't seen all of Four. Waiting for netflix to roll it out.

Me too. I cut the cable so I can't watch 4 until 5 starts.

Get yourself a fire TV stick and there are a bunch of apps that you can install on it to watch anything you want, even most of the U.S. live TV channels. The Fire TV Stick is the best value for your money. If anyone wants more info PM me.
