  1. Hey man, thanks so much for the kind words. It was so unbelievably amazing to be involved with this event, and it was great to meet Neil's family and so many Rush fans from around the world. It will be an experience I will cherish for the rest of my life. Glad you enjoyed our band! - Ffej, drummer for Solar Federation
  2. Just crossed paths with this post. Thanks for the kind words. This was recorded at our second show, so a lot has changed since then. It's still one of our favorite songs to play. Thanks for sharing!
  3. Right on! Yeah, unfortunately many of my favorite songs to play like Xanadu and Natural Science were played on R40. Oh well, we've still got plenty of awesome material to play! \m/ \m/
  4. Just bumping this post... Hey all! Rush fans in or around Central PA might want to check out this event at Ephrata Main Theatre in Ephrata, PA this Saturday 11/19. My Rush tribute band, Solar Federation, will be playing a 90-minute set, followed by a screening of the R40 Live concert film. Our set will be comprised exclusively of songs NOT performed on R40 Live... so that's 4 hours of non-stop Rush with no repeats! Ephrata Main Theatre is located at 124 E. Main St, Ephrata, PA inside the Brossman Building. Tickets are limited to 175 seats. The show is open to all ages and advance tickets are available for $10 at www.ephratamain.com or $12 at the door. Doors open at 5 p.m. Show starts at 6 p.m. You can check out Solar Federation at www.solarfederationband.com or on Facebook at /solarfederationrush. Rush on!

  6. Thanks guys. The show went extremely well. Had lots of RATS in attendance as well as peeps from the Clockwork Angels FB group. We'll be at Appalachian Brewing Co. in Harrisburg on 8/27. Rush on!
  7. Hey all! If you live in the Central PA area or thereabouts, then you might want to check out Solar Federation. We're playing at Tellus360 in Lancaster on Saturday 7/30 and Appalachian Brewing Co. in Harrisburg on Saturday 8/27. Rush on! www.solarfederationband.com https://www.facebook.com/solarfederationrush/ https://www.facebook.com/events/631046537033682/
  8. Thanks for the kind words! We appreciate you spreading some Rush love our way. Check out www.solarfederationband.com for some recent videos from our March 5 show in Lancaster. We had a great film and recording crew out that night that put together an awesome 5-camera mix with awesome audio. Cheers!
  9. Most (if not all) musicians playing in Rush tribute or cover bands play or have played in original bands, myself included. For me (age 41), it's not about gaining notoriety or getting famous or riding coattails, it's about the joy of performing Rush's music. Speaking for myself, I get great satisfaction writing, arranging and performing original material with my band; on the other hand, I love Rush's music so much (they are my favorite band of all time), that putting in the time to learn Neil's drum parts accurately is worthwhile to me. To be able to actually play Rush's music competently with other musicians (or along with my iPod) is just a rewarding to me as listening to Rush or seeing them in concert. Most musicians (if not all) who play Rush are incredibly passionate about music and just love playing... as long as the music is pure and meaningful.
  10. Wow! I came across this 10-year-old post tonight. I replied to this back in 2005 and now I actually play in a Rush tribute band called Solar Federation. If anyone is around Central PA, come check us out!
  11. @aperersvt: Couldn't make Giant @3:30. Can you text me where you are so that we can meet up in the lot?
  12. Indeed! Where are you all meeting... same place as last time? I remember that lot well. I remember hearing the band sound checking to Entre Nous! Can't wait for this show! I've successfully avoided the set list thus far.
  13. ...and folks looking for tix to Bristow on Saturday. Ticketbastard just opened up premium seating this afternoon! I've been scanning for the last two weeks and I just scored Orchestra Section 3 near the center aisle on Alex's side (Row M) for face value after seeing nothing but LAWN seats the whole time. Act now if you are looking for good seats!!!
  14. Damn. I saw my thread had 11 replies and I got excited. Then I saw people bickering about the kind of shit that original drove me away from posting on forums like this.
  15. If anyone has any tickets for Bristow or Irvine they are looking to part with for whatever reason, please email me at ffejherb@gmail.com. Thanks!
  16. Yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up, which is why I'm looking at Bristow or Irvine. If it happens, awesome! But the ebay prices are pretty ridiculous.
  17. Hey all - If anyone needs to unload two tickets for either Bristow, VA or Irvine, CA, please shoot me an email at ffejherb@gmail.com. Missed the pre-sale for Bristow but got great seats for Philly! As usual, I need to hit at least three shows this tour. Hopefully they will be back for a second leg in the fall. I heard they will do a short UK run and then come back around after that. Really looking forward to this tour. I can't believe it's R40 already!
  18. I haven't posted on this site in a looooooooooooooooooooooong time... so long, in fact, that I am surprised I remembered my log-in credentials. I really wanted to read some opinions of the recent tour setlist. As I was reading your review, it felt like I'd actually written it (other than the fact that I am 38 years old). I agree with everything you said. Power Windows is one of my all-time favorite Rush albums as well, and I absolutely loved that they played 4 songs from it, especially Territories! And I totally agree with you about The Garden. I remember watching an interview with Geddy back from around the time when Counterparts was released, and he said something along the lines of "The perfect Rush song... I feel like it's still inside of me, waiting to come out." I truly believe the song to which he was referring is The Garden. It is such a stunningly beautiful piece of music. Glad to see there are plenty of young Rush fans out there. The world is a better place because of you. Cheers... and well put, my friend!
  19. I think Alex just came in a little late, because Geddy looks over at him, as if to say, "Hello? Alex?" I love that part of the video! Also, I believe Alex breaks his string at the end of Tom Sawyer on ASOH... you can actually see him pull it off after it breaks.
  20. Awesome! I signed up under my original band, herbie, and uploaded a bunch of tunes and pix. Great job with the site!
  21. Try this link... http://dreamwater.org/art/gtr/tribalpha.htm Not sure if all of these bands are still together or not, but it was the first link to come up on Google. I've only ever seen one Rush tribute band... 2112, based out of NY or NJ. They were quite good, but they only played material up to and including Signals. This was back before T4E was released. They were also a 3-piece band, as opposed to some of the 4- and 5-piece Rush tribute bands out there.
  22. Oh yeah! 18/20 on the "Early Years" quiz!
