New Beatles Song - Now And Then

It is! Well done Sherlock! This is the original original😀. This was refined a bit more, solo etc, more guitar. Still prefer this to the official version tho. -

Beatles Now And Then. Official vs Fan Arrangement
condemned2bfree replied to condemned2bfree's topic in Music Of The Spheres
I think the official release doesn't attach itself to anything to be honest. Closest a Wing entry, I can't hear much relation apart from the obvious vocals. For me this is a biggie with this song, and part of its repeal. It sounds desolate, not relating to its audio history. The fan release captures a mood and sounds closer to the Beatles than anything else for me. Yes they were a catalyst for each other for sure. The greatest songwriting double. -

Yeah why do those images? Odd. Totally goes against the emotion of the song. I close my eyes -
Beatles Now And Then. Official vs Fan Arrangement

Yes the official release you can clearly hear John's voice, the fan version it's buried. I kind of like that. With the official they omitted some of the words which doesn't help. I really don't know why they did this. I really like the fans version, how it's arranged. The solo, build up, orchestration. It sounds more like the Beatles, than the Beatles version. IMO -

This version is slightly different to the one I heard a while back. Still prefer it to the official release. -

There's a version of this song a fan did - it's not the current alternative version on Youtube. I put it on here a few yrs ago I think. Anyway, it's much better than the official release IMO. Can't find it anymore. This sounds ok. Seems more of a fad as being the last song from the Beatles, performed by John, than an outright Beatles classic. -
He went through some stuff, especially with his stomach/ colon. What's so heartwarming is Mr Perry's happiness at helping others kick their habit. All the money, notoriety, this simple gesture helping others still seemed very important to him. He turned stuff around, then helped others others. Cool dude. RIP.

I was never a fan, but Mr Perry was great being so open about his addictions trying to help others. RIP.

Rolling Stone's DEI 250 Greatest Guitarists

Totally agree with Rick Beato here. The list is a joke. No Moore Malmsteen, Guthrie, and no Allan Holdsworth - the man who influenced a lot of guitarists on this list. . Rick puts it well, explaining songwriting over guitar solo playing, using Neil Young as an example. Suppose RS is getting extra publicity with these omissions. -
Yeah I love Holdsworth. Hard to pinpoint a good starting place with Allan - he developed in many ways over time. The song Scirroco off Lifetime with Tony Williams for an introduction to his more ''basic playing'' and sound. But for a more immediate album I'd recommend Metal Fatigue which covers his modern sound a little more. As mentioned Allan always kept developing right up to The Sixteen Men Of Tain, his last album. There are many nuggets to be found though, from the band Tempest, the band UK. the band Soft Machine, and his solo albums ''Sand'', Hard Hat Area, Secrets and Wardenclyffe Tower etc. Zarabeth is one of the greatest, most moving solos ever IMO . I love his solo on Desert Girl - Planet X - he did many guest appearances on various albums. Good luck to listening to the greatest guitarist of this world and many others, you're in for a treat.

Yeah he's doing that guitar sweeping technique like on Painkiller. It's a great song, great lyrics, nice guitar. I like it.
