  1. :codger: When I started going to concerts in the 80s tickets were like $15 - $20. It was an awesome time. I can't think of anything that has gone up in price as fast as concert tickets.
  2. Why would you NOT be able to resell your tickets? The only way they could try to stop you would be to force you to pick them up at will call the day of the show. If they mail the tickets to you before the show then you can do whatever you want with them. They're not going to check ID at the door to make sure that the guy showing up at the show is the same guy who bought the ticket.
  3. I expect them to make fun of themselves with something like a video from the R70 tour. They would look REALLY OLD and be on stage in wheelchairs. There could be a scene with them backstage talking about the good old days when they were young. One of them could say “I can still remember the R40 tour…” By the way, I liked all their opening videos except the one from Clockwork Angels. It just wasn’t funny in my opinion.
  4. I got pretty good seats for the Atlanta show. I may make the trek up to Greensboro but those tickets have not gone on sale yet.
  5. I prefer most of the Exit Stage Left versions of songs over the studio or other live versions. I particularly love Passage to Bangkok, The Trees and Xanadu. IMHO, any other versions just sound weak.
  6. Good luck with that. Not sure why you're wanting isolated tracks? It's easy enough to hear each instruments parts if you listen closely? It's not about hearing the parts. The desire for isolated tracks in this case is so that the guitarist and bassist can have just the drums and vocal tracks to jam to. That’s exactly right. I did find a website that allows you to create custom backing tracks but the available Rush songs are limited. http://www.karaoke-version.com/custombackingtrack/rush/ I would prefer to play along to the real thing anyway.
  7. A friend of mine plays guitar and I play bass and we want to jam on some Rush songs but we’re having trouble finding some isolated drum and vocal tracks. I found these tracks for Tom Sawyer and I found the vocal track for Red Barchetta on YouTube. I can’t find the drum track for Red Barchetta and the drum and vocal tracks for Limelight. Can anyone point me to a website that has these tracks (preferably free) for download?
  8. You don't know me though... instead of donating, just send me the money and we can have a phone conversation. True, but honestly how interesting are we compared to the band? The Beyond the Lighted Stage documentary had some short interviews with some fans. Nothing against them personally but I would rather have that time spent on the band. I like meeting people at the concerts and talking about Rush but a whole documentary just seems completely unnecessary.
  9. I really don’t see the point of this. A documentary about us? Ummmm… pardon me for stating the obvious but we already know us.
  10. I became aware of DragonForce within the last year or so. I bought their current album (at the time) The Power Within and I LOVED it. I then got their older stuff and I didn’t like much of it. Their newest album Maximum Overload is awesome! It and The Power Within are my go to albums to listen to at the gym. I have not yet seen them live. I’m hoping they come to Atlanta on this tour.
  11. I feel that it’s an 80s album. For me, it was a perfect transition for Rush from the 70s to the 80s. It doesn’t really sound like a 70s album and it doesn’t really sound like a typical 80s album but it does lean more that way. Either way, it’s a GREAT album.
  12. There are a few DMB songs that I consider brilliant for that genre of music. However, most of his stuff to me sounds mediocre or worse. He and his band are clearly talented musicians but overall their style of music doesn’t really connect with me.
  13. My first thought was that I have nothing to ask them because they are not part of the band. But then I realized that they are in an extended way. Who knows how the spouses may have influenced the boys in their writing process? So I would ask “Have you even given input on a song?” I would also ask “Have you ever attempted to play your husband’s instrument?” (By the way there is no intended double entendre there.)
  14. I love how cameras are allowed (or at least tolerated) at concert these days. By the looks of your pictures I assume that your dad has a nice DSLR with a zoom lens. Has he even had any trouble taking it into a concert or while taking pictures during a show?
  15. Adam is easily one the funniest and most quick witted comedians I have ever heard. He can take any topic and go off on a hilarious rant about it. He even has a bit called “What can’t Adam complain about” and he has never been stumped.
  16. On a recent episode of the Adam Carolla podcast, Adam, newsgirl Allison and “Bald Brian” had a funny chat about Rush. If you’re not familiar with the show it takes a bit to explain. Bald Brian has accumulated many funny clips during his many years working with Adam and Allison. One of them is Allison making a funny guitar solo sound. Allison mentions that she was listening to Rush and thinks that her guitar solo sound is very similar to a Rush guitar solo. They then go into a funny improv bit about it. They then talk about Rush being the ultimate air drum band. You can download the episode here: http://adamcarolla.com/amy-alkon/ The Rush part starts at about the 3:00 mark. Keep in mind that this is an uncensored podcast so there is some adult language.
  17. I bought Feedback and listened to it a couple times but that was all. IMHO, it was a completely unnecessary album for them to make. I would go so far as to say it was a waste of their time. It’s not a bad album it’s just not Rush. I think most if not all of us hardcore fans would rather they spend their time on new original material.
  18. I think the problem that most people have with Gene Simmons is simply because he comes across as extremely arrogant and self-centered. Regardless of what he does, good or bad, it is viewed through that arrogant filter. The same can be said about people like Donald Trump. On the other hand there are people like the late Steve Jobbs who was extremely successful and wealthy but does not come across as arrogant even though he certainly could due to his vast accomplishments. The same goes for Geddy as well as Alex and Neil. They could be arrogant assholes because they have a long track record of success but instead they seem to have stayed pretty humble.
  19. If I live to be 1,000 I will never understand all the love for COS. Besides Bastille Day and Lakeside Park it’s a terrible album. Hemispheres is not my favorite but it is a great album.
  20. I sat front row at the Presto show in Atlanta. That was back in the day before Ticketmaster. I worked at a record store called “Turtles” and we sold tickets through a system called “Seats.” We were usually able to pull some tickets for employees when they went on sale as long as the first person was buying less than the maximum. There were a couple years where every concert I went to I was within the first 10 rows and often within the first five rows.
  21. You guys must have been smoking the same thing that the band was when they made COS. It is by far the worst Rush album. I would go so far as to call it an embarrassment for the band. Just look at the results of the album: the band themselves called the tour “the down the tubes tour.” I’m just thankful that they were able to pull out of the death spiral with 2112.
  22. It’s tough to predict what they'll choose as their opener. I never would have guessed that they would ever open with Tom Sawyer, Limelight or Subdivisions. Those were very odd choices IMHO. I always thought that Analog Kid would be an awesome opener. It’s up tempo and it starts with a punch. For their next tour assuming they choose something they have never opened with before, I think Caravan or Headlong Flight would be great as an opener. (I’ll continue to hope for Analog Kid.)
  23. If you’re an adult then you should have a thick enough skin so anyone can say anything to you and you won’t fly off the handle.
  24. Pretty good, however… the bass part at the very beginning (and every time that part repeats) isn’t right. Geddy plays 1-5 chords an octave higher than that.
