  1. I never got to see Rush in the 80's (I was a child and didn't even know they existed) so for me, the first set was a treat. I would have preferred to hear some late 70's classics at the end, in place of Working Man or say, Manhattan Project, but I really liked Neil's mini drum solo as an intro to Red Sector A. I also always love it when they play Bravado. Overall, they sounded great. Geddy's voice sounded better than at any other show I've been to (my first show was in 2002). Regardless of the weird set list... it was another fantastic concert by the one and only RUSH!
  2. I never understood why Tai Shan is so maligned... I've always loved that song. I love every song on that album. But when it comes to playing songs from that album live, other than Force Ten, Time Stand Still and Mission, the only other song I would pick is Prime Mover.
  3. I don't hope that they play the entire 2112 album... just side A. I doubt they will play the whole CA album. 2112 (just the song) would be a great encore or end to the 2nd set. Well I think everyone has their own idea of an ideal set list for this tour. I also think everyone here will be happy with whatever Rush decides is best! Getting close to Sept 7!!
  4. Interesting responses. I thought there'd be more excitement about the possibility of it. I won't be upset if they don't play it in full, but "the dream is still in my head". Listening to 2112 from Different Stages now. Discovery is where it's at right now... it sounds effing beautiful.
  5. I voted for Fly by Night. It's badassery needs no further description.
  6. Exit...Stage Left because that was Rush at the peak of their live performance ability. Different Stages would be my 2nd choice. I love how they perform their 90's material on that one, with Bravado, Animate and Resist being the highlights... plus, the '78 concert is intense... that's what edges it over my third choice, All the World's a Stage. My top three choices just happen to end up as a trilogy of "Stage" albums.
  7. My bad... so they haven't played the whole thing since the Test for Echo tour? Wow. It would be a great encore indeed.
  8. Sorry if this has been discussed already, but I haven't been on this forum in a while and I couldn't find it in the first 5 pages of topics. It seems only fitting that they should play all of 2112 this year, does it not? They haven't played it in it's entirety since the R30 tour in 2004, which I missed (still pissed about that) so I'm guessing they've been waiting until the year that is exactly 100 years prior to its setting to play it again. Clockwork Angels shows a time of 21:12 on its cover... the time is right! I have yet to witness all of 2112 played live, so maybe I'm extra hopeful it will be played when I see them this year. I know it takes up a lot of time in the set list, but it's not like it's weak material. I will be enjoying the show regardless of what they play, but to hear 2112 in 2012 would make all my nerdy impulses chime in harmony, or something. I'll find out Sept 7 in Manchester, NH!
  9. I wouldn't care if they didn't play anything from S & A but I think they will play Far Cry, and I'm totally cool with that. I really doubt they will play anything else from that album, although Hope would be welcome.
  10. Hahaha, this does seem like a hopeless endeavor. My ex hated Rush... that had nothing to do with why we broke up, but I do think it's really hot when a girl does like Rush... there's a ghost of a chance?
  11. Clockwork Angels is better by far... I'd say it's their best album since the 80's. It's the first Rush album in a long time that is great from start to finish.
  12. QUOTE (TullSkull @ Oct 13 2011, 07:25 PM) You all got to see this one.. >>> Reefer Smokin' Man.... Love it! I've been a reefer smoking man since I was 18 (uh... 17 years ago) and it's been nothing but a good time since! I love the Kermit avatar too. I always knew that frog was hip. ...puffing and passing...
  13. Cinderella Man is one of my favorites by Rush, and it's kinda a bummer that they don't play AFTK anymore either. But I think what Rush are still able to do at their age is amazing, so if they can no longer pull off music from the era when they had ultramegasuperhuman abilities, I can't fault them for that. I wouldn't fault them if they just did their best with it, and fell short. I'd love to hear Cinderella Man, tuned down, or with regular tuning - I doubt Ged would do too bad with it. But Rush are perfectionists, and that's part of what makes them so awesome.
  14. I bought Chronicles (along with the 4 disc Led Zeppelin box set, and Pink Floyd's The Wall and Wish You Were Here) with my high school graduation money - that was in 1994. During my freshman year of college, I used some of the money I earned working at the student cafe to buy Counterparts at the college bookstore. I remember it being expensive - $18 I believe. I didn't care because I freakin loved that Stick it Out song and couldn't wait to hear the rest of it. And I loved it, but I soon realized that I really needed to pick up their older albums. I know that I bought 2112, Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures very soon after that. By the end of the 90's, I pretty much had everything that Rush had put out at that point, except for their 1st album which I was kinda against for reasons that seem dumb to me now... I guess I thought it wasn't 'real Rush' because Neil didn't play on it or write lyrics for it. But eventually I got over that Anyway, I voted for Counterparts since Chronicles wasn't an option. Test for Echo was the 1st album I bought on release day.
  15. QUOTE (1 of the 7 @ Jul 19 2011, 08:49 PM) We're going over to my mom's tomorrow to meet family who are visiting from Norway. I feel for them on Thursday when it's going to hit 100, even here...I doubt they've ever been in weather this hot. Good thing my mom has a pool... I kid you not: I also have family that live in Norway. I just visited there in May. It was a little cool there, but I didn't mind. The day I returned, it was hot and muggy. Norwegian summers are truly ideal. I've made it a goal that one day I will have a summer home there, and I hope that's way before I retire. My aunt from Norway is retired and spends winters in Ft. Lauderdale. I wouldn't pick Florida for a winter home... I haven't decided where that should be yet.

A knee to the buttocks? I'd give her a 3rd leg! I've never played Gotcha before. Looks fun.
  17. Middletown Dreams, mainly the chorus. "Dreams transport desires Drive you when you're down Dreams transport the ones who need to get out of town" Ironically, that's what I'm thinking when I drive out of the city to the suburban town I live in. Ha. "It's understood by every single person Who'd be elsewhere if they could So far so good And life's not unpleasant In their little neighborhood"
  18. The heat wave is coming my way. Gross. Autumn is my season, but I'd prefer winter to this. But I shouldn't complain. Boston has been doing relatively well compared to what I see around the rest of the country, except for you California bastards.

According to that recurring dream I keep having, yes, yes, I am. that might just mean you got some good shit. Aye, and I've worked hard to earn it too. Time to slip off into dreamland right now in fact. Lately, I've had much stranger dreams than performing Free Will on stage. Nice chatting. I think I'll stop by more often. Please do. Oh and your location, that's where my dad works. Do you go near Harbor Towers? If so, Do you know Jason Guerrette? I work very close to those towers. I can see them from my office. I don't know Jason.

  21. It's OK. I'd actually rather be a single atom on one of Geddy's bass strings.
