Hi all. I swear I'm not soliciting any birthday wishes here, :codger: but since my awesome wife put this together for me and it's a montage of photos it might be appropriate to post here?

This guy sounds like this thread. :D

I like how this guy teaches TSOR
That guy is adding notes that Alex doesn't play. I'm guilty of this too. This guy shows how to play it as Alex himself demonstrated in his video lesson.

Happy birthday mountain lady!

I love all things Rush related but I couldn't get through Clockwork Lives. Couldn't read another sentence. The tacked on, ham-handed Rush references were just too much for this reader.

Nice Work! Always been a favorite hobby of mine. I still have a few from my youth. I used to light them up. Lots of spaceships and Aircraft. I went digital in 2000 though. Built from scratch. :)

Local news did a story on our team at work and my Red Barchetta made the cut! :)

I love long hair, but I think the shorter hair on this model suits her much better. (I'm also rather a fan of necks.)
Agreed. The short hair is more permanent wavey.

\It's True: While researching Permanent Waves for a project of my own last year, I learned of the photograph which had inspired Hugh Syme's artwork for the LP. I assume half-responsibility for the image of the 'Original Album Cover' posted above; after a bit of digging, I unearthed the original photograph Syme had used, then superimposed the first image of Paula Turnbull that Syme had rejected (above) upon that photograph.
Someone other has come along since and added the Dewey Defeats Truman misprint and the building marquis in the background.

Actually, I put all of that image in my first post together myself from the photos found on the web including the newspaper. And that's the original buildings in the background without the bands names on the marquis. Still looks like it says Peart though. ;) I think it says Pearl.
I'd be interested to see your comp of the photos if you still have it.

I went to a Donner party once...
Were the Fine Young Cannibals there?

I just discovered these. Had the chance to try the Morpher distortion. Great tone and variety. They are reasonably priced and I think sound good. Check them out. I'm not affiliated with the company or anything, but I appreciate a bargain. :)

That's cool but I envisioned the Barchetta to be a bit more modern.
Yeah. In the original story I think it was an MG. But the model is definitely (edit) NOT what Neil had in mind.
I also think the air car isn't right. I think there's this idea that it's a hover car but that's not the idea in the story. It's a bigger car that's safer and less polluting. After all, couldn't a hover car work over water? Why would a river stop it? Yes, I'm overthinking it. :)

Not my work but, I found this kind of cool. :)

The first Boston record is great top to bottom.
Hitch a Ride is one of my top five all time jams.
That solo is perfect.
I remember it fading out at the solo and fading back in after it switched tracks in the middle of the song on my 8 track. :codger:

Thanks Hunter. That would be great. i can get to them this weekend.
Here are the rough guitars. I'll probably redo some if not all. Especially the end. But it might be good enough for now. Let me know if you can't get to the file.

I can do bass for all 3
I laid down some guitar tracks for NS this weekend but would love to hear the bass to play along with. Do you want me to up load the roughs for you?
-
Drums (raw rough mix) are here:

File starts where drums come in, no header for water laps and intro. I can include that if need be, I just wanted to hear reference in my car.
Sounds Great! Maybe I'll head down to the beach this weekend and record some tidepools. :)

Ok I have Science in the can. I need to brush up a little on War Paint to get the subtleties back. :)
BTW I spent 3 years in Encinitas as a kid so I am very familiar with San Diego baseball. We used to go to Jack Murphy all the time to see the Padres. Not many else did. :)
Nice. I was there several times when it was still Jack Murphy. :-) Moved down here to go to college from a little town, you may know of being in the Bay Area, named Twain Harte. So, loyalties are divided.
Can't wait to lay my hands on your NS drum track! I'm sure it's great.
-
Not for the Padres...I can mix and should have time. I'm lagging on tracks. I built the sessions last night for War Paint and science.
What can I say? It's the playoff push... :)
-
I'll do some drums this week for Science and War Paint, probably tomorrow.
That'd be awesone!

I know its the less popular stuff but I've been listening to a lot of mid 80's to late 90's rush, and I'd love to do a cover of something like Lock And Key, War Paint, Mystic Rhythms, Driven, Cold Fire, any of the lesser-known stuff, if anyone wants to. Of course, if not I'm always up for some older stuff too
I'm in for vocals and or guitars for any of those. Can you do drums? My wife has been after me for years to do war paint. :-) And I love all the above.
-
I'm up for guitar on Tom Sawyer. I was planning on a guitar cover of it anyway. And I stll really want to do Natural Science, but never have come across a decently recorded drum track. What are your thoughts on that guys?
-
Yeah, absolutely. Let me know what you want to do. There's a link in my sig to some of the songs we did on ourstage.
