  1. It's True: While researching Permanent Waves for a project of my own last year, I learned of the photograph which had inspired Hugh Syme's artwork for the LP. I assume half-responsibility for the image of the 'Original Album Cover' posted above; after a bit of digging, I unearthed the original photograph Syme had used, then superimposed the first image of Paula Turnbull that Syme had rejected (above) upon that photograph.

Someone other has come along since and added the Dewey Defeats Truman misprint and the building marquis in the background.

Actually, I put all of that image in my first post together myself from the photos found on the web including the newspaper. And that's the original buildings in the background without the bands names on the marquis. Still looks like it says Peart though. ;) I think it says Pearl.

I'd be interested to see your comp of the photos if you still have it.

  2. I just discovered these. Had the chance to try the Morpher distortion. Great tone and variety. They are reasonably priced and I think sound good. Check them out. I'm not affiliated with the company or anything, but I appreciate a bargain. :)

  3. That's cool but I envisioned the Barchetta to be a bit more modern.

Yeah. In the original story I think it was an MG. But the model is definitely (edit) NOT what Neil had in mind.

I also think the air car isn't right. I think there's this idea that it's a hover car but that's not the idea in the story. It's a bigger car that's safer and less polluting. After all, couldn't a hover car work over water? Why would a river stop it? Yes, I'm overthinking it. :)

  4. Ok I have Science in the can. I need to brush up a little on War Paint to get the subtleties back. :)

BTW I spent 3 years in Encinitas as a kid so I am very familiar with San Diego baseball. We used to go to Jack Murphy all the time to see the Padres. Not many else did. :)

Nice. I was there several times when it was still Jack Murphy. :-) Moved down here to go to college from a little town, you may know of being in the Bay Area, named Twain Harte. So, loyalties are divided.

Can't wait to lay my hands on your NS drum track! I'm sure it's great.

  5. I know its the less popular stuff but I've been listening to a lot of mid 80's to late 90's rush, and I'd love to do a cover of something like Lock And Key, War Paint, Mystic Rhythms, Driven, Cold Fire, any of the lesser-known stuff, if anyone wants to. Of course, if not I'm always up for some older stuff too

I'm in for vocals and or guitars for any of those. Can you do drums? My wife has been after me for years to do war paint. :-) And I love all the above.

  6. I'm up for guitar on Tom Sawyer. I was planning on a guitar cover of it anyway. And I stll really want to do Natural Science, but never have come across a decently recorded drum track. What are your thoughts on that guys?
