    ENTOURAGE

I think I'm gonna pick up the first season on DVD.....and check it out.
  2. The new Rolling Stone should have an in-depth review......
  3. QUOTE (paganoman @ May 15 2007, 09:42 PM) One of the greatest shows ever. Next to Entourage, of course. You seen Entourage in HD?
  4. QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ May 15 2007, 09:32 PM) QUOTE (Warren Cromartie @ May 15 2007, 09:30 PM) I have a lot of respect for a band that isn't afraid to say what it feels in its songs, as long as it's done tastefully and poetically, like it is in Faithless. Yes, and I will say it again and again.........RUSH HAS BALLS! VERY CLASSY BALLS AT THAT! You like balls.....so it's all good.
  5. QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ May 15 2007, 09:24 PM) QUOTE (WCFIELDS @ May 15 2007, 09:02 PM) QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ May 15 2007, 08:55 PM) Neil is just expressing his belief. He's not saying that you have to believe in what he is believing or that your belief is wrong. And some people disagree with Neil's beliefs (hence the I don't like the lyrics comments)....no one is saying Neil is right or wrong. For me, what Neil believes in his fine.....I just don't like the lyrical construction of alot of the songs. It seems very all over the place to me. (notice the "to me" part). I have no beef with your criticism, which is in the minority. Each to his own. Your criticism of lyrical construction is not relevant to the lyrical content, which is what is being discussed here. And it's one thing to disagree and it's another to be insulted by a disagreement. Based on some people's posts, they sound like they are insulted by Neil's lyrics. I agree......some people seem to be insulted by Neil's views. Lots of people interpret lyrics in different ways too, which I think has a lot to do with it.

  7. QUOTE (hope70 @ May 15 2007, 08:07 PM) QUOTE (priest_of_syrinx @ May 15 2007, 07:59 PM) QUOTE (hope70 @ May 15 2007, 05:50 PM) i like the music alot in this one, but trying to warm up to the lyrics a bit from a Catholic standpoint. I'm looking from a Lutheran standpoint and I think they're very well-written. I don't think they're alienating, I think he's just stating what he believes. Would it be any different for you if he sang: I praise our God, Allah Muhammad is our prophet. You can call me Muslim, You can call me Muslim. And I read the Quoran (sp?) And I believe it, yes. That's faith enough for me. ? [i don't mean to offend anybody, this post is just to prove a point. I apologize in advance if anybody is hurt.] I think some things are a little touchy and should be left out of lyrics for music. Faithless is a great musical tune, but some of the lyrics he's stating what he believes, but I think he could have put it or used words in a neutral way of expressing. I'm not a big fan of the lyrics either......but I dig the song.
  8. Al's guitar work is excellent in this song.....
  9. QUOTE (prog.fusion @ May 15 2007, 05:51 PM) one of my favorites. hope they play it. same here.
  10. QUOTE (alphseeker @ Apr 15 2007, 08:25 PM) Has anyone been watching this incredible series - It is the greatest footage of wildlife and landscape ever - Close up slow motion footage of animals hunting like a 20' great white leaping 15' out of the water to catch a seal - you have to see to appreciate I just got HDTV and a brand new LCD set.....and this show rules. Actually ANYTHING in HD rules......
  11. QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Apr 30 2007, 07:19 AM) This just in from Movie Web: QUOTE According to Variety, Russell Crowe will star as the Sheriff in Ridley Scott's new drama Nottingham. Produced by Brian Grazer, this unique take on the Robin Hood myth finds Crowe's noble and brave lawman working for a shady king. The upstanding enforcement officer will also engage himself in a love triangle between Maid Marion and Robin Hood. The script was written by Showtime's Sleeper Cell creators Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris. Russell Crowe became attached when Universal picked up the spec screenplay. Scott plans on directing the movie as soon as he finishes his untitled CIA thriller for Warner Brothers, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio. Production on Nottingham begins in 2008. Well, anything directed by Ridley Scott is enough to draw me in. Just as long as he doesn't put Crowe in green tights. Have you seen A Good Year.....w/Crowe directed by Scott?
  12. Everything after Blood Sugar......except Californication, isn't worth a shit.
  13. QUOTE (Mustard Death @ Apr 21 2007, 10:28 PM) Uplift Mofo Party Plan, definitely. Although I enjoyed Mother's Milk and Blood Sugar too... Everything after One Hot Minute (and most of that album, too) was pretty boring to me though. Ditto.....
  14. QUOTE (Snowdog @ Apr 16 2007, 06:18 PM) I agree with the sentiments on Leo, he has become a very good actor. I think Wahlberg has really come into his own as an actor too. Two great performances. And of course, Nicholson is always good. I didn't see that ending coming Me too.....he was good in Gangs Of New York, Blood Diamond, The Departed and Catch Me If You Can........I think people rag on him because he looks like a Backstreet Boy...
  15. Awesome movie....saw it the other night.......
  16. Caddyshack was funnier.....
  17. QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Jan 1 2007, 12:54 PM) THE PARTY with Peter Sellers. Anyone that has seen this, I'm willing to bet, likes it or loves it. And anyone that hasn't seen it, needs to rent it. Agreed.......priceless comedy......
  18. QUOTE (treeduck @ Apr 14 2007, 12:28 PM) QUOTE (WCFIELDS @ Apr 14 2007, 11:28 AM) Not to thread jack.....but what's with all the U2 references in the VT review above...... There's a similarity with some of the guitars in Ceiling Unlimited and a U2 song...I think it's I will Follow, but I'm no U2 fan so I'm not sure... There are 4 songs in that review that have comparisions to U2....that's why I asked. For the record....I hate U2.......no offense to any fans on the board.

  20. QUOTE (lerkst @ Apr 13 2007, 02:59 PM) If any of you consider this a review---go jump out the window. All I get from this post, besides having my time WASTED, was that some guy listened to the album. And honestly, it doesn't even appear that this guy is much of a Rush fan--yes, he mentioned Cygnus--, he just rambles on about describing the music Reading the post (seriously, read it again and you'll agree), he just describes Test for Echo. Oh my.....
  21. QUOTE (Coltonz @ Apr 13 2007, 04:44 PM) Hmm.. I'm not sure about some of the things said in that "review"... I was kinda looking forward to alot of uptempo stuff on this record.. I love the tempo in Far Cry.. Is that considered "uptempo" or "midtempo"? I was very curious about Spindrift... I listened to the clip on Rush.com and it was kinda slow, unlike what I had expected.. Fellow Rush fans please give me some reassurance!!! Do alot of you feel this way before an album is released? Nope.....I'm totally pumped....loved what I've heard so far......

It's more of a summary than a review.....don't think we should slam the guy, he is sharing some info with us. Besides....pretty hard to give a solid review after 1 listen......
  23. QUOTE (treeduck @ Apr 13 2007, 02:29 PM) QUOTE (Kudzu @ Apr 13 2007, 02:21 PM) QUOTE (amalignantfarcry @ Apr 13 2007, 11:02 AM) With all due respect Pedro2112 I would say Peart leaned Libertarian say 15-20 years ago. He said in Roadshow that he is "Left Leaning Libertarian". I don't find a single thing he says these days (especially after moving to very left leaning southern California) that shows him as a Libertarian or a Centrist, nevermind right leaning in any way. He goes out of his way to let everyone know how he has no faith in God, I guess my point is he has become so preachy about it. A subtle reference once in a while was fine, but now he is doing an entire album about it. I think we get the point Neil. From Freewill to The Big Wheel..I got the point. You do not believe in a ready made faith. 10-4. Why do you find an agnostic rock band more objectionable than a Christian rock band? This album isn't a change of stripes for Rush any more than Slaughterhouse-Five was a change of stripes for the late Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. This is the band finally confronting this spiritual angst head-on. Good on them. On their own the lyrics are just average poetry... As Neil says he spends about 1% of his overall time in Rush on the lyrics and they're about 1% important. Yeah they're required, but they're just a means to an end - ie sometihng for Geddy to sing... This is about the music baby... I would say the lyrics are slightly more important than you think.....they aren't just something thrown together for Geddy to sing........man there are some comments on theis board......unreal.
