  1. QUOTE (treeduck @ Jun 5 2010, 07:40 PM) MY setlist, if you don't like it I reserve the right to banish you to another dimension and bind you, on a molecular and "soulular" level, to a hell planet of my choosing, trapping you there for life, beyond death and for all time! Far Cry Fly By Night By-Tor and the Snow Dog Bastille Day Cut to the Chase The Weapon Kid Gloves Caravan BU2B 2112 (entire) Tom Sawyer Red Barchetta YYZ Limelight The Camera Eye 11 Witch Hunt (Part III of Fear) Vital Signs (interval) Analog Kid Chain Lightning Armor and Sword A Farewell to Kings Xanadu Hemispheres (entire) Freewill Cinderella Man Jacob's Ladder Marathon Ceiling Unlimited Turn the Page The Spirit of Radio Cinderella Man A Passage to Bangkok NB: This list consists of songs we know they are going to play, of songs that will be expected realistically to be played and the rest are my own personal choices... Dude, I love it!
  2. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ May 31 2010, 01:26 PM) This movie is getting murdered in all the reviews. Of course, none of that matters if you're still a fan of the series. During a cookout yesterday, my sister remarked, "I saw Sex and the City 2 last night." Cutting her off, I simply responded, "Oh, I'm so sorry" edit cause I can't spell

QUOTE (Ya_Big_Tree @ May 30 2010, 07:53 PM) QUOTE (Snowdog @ May 30 2010, 07:39 PM) I really liked this show and was very disappointed it was canned after 2 seasons. It was a great mystery/thriller type show that always kept you guessing. HBO did this show (and Deadwood, too) a great injustice by canceling it prematurely. Clancy Brown was fantastic as Brother Justin Crowe and Tim DeKay was solid as always as Jonesy. And Nick Stahl was great as Ben Hopkins who really had no clue what was happening to him. Great show. Wish we'd get to hear the rest of the story. Oh they never finished it? Damn. I wont start watching it then cause it will drive me nuts not knowing what happens next. Maybe if you know that going in you won't be as angry as I was when I had just finished watching season 2 and found out they'd canceled it

  5. QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ May 27 2010, 07:02 PM) Looks like Julia Stiles will be on Dexter for season 5 http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2010/05/26/dexter-julia-stiles/ September 26 can't get here fast enough!
  6. QUOTE (theredtamasrule @ May 24 2010, 07:34 PM) A satisfying emotional, and not quite unexpected, ending to a dizzyingly complex show. There was no way, no way the writers could begin to answer most of the questions about the Island itself so they didn't even try except to show the Source...whatever the hell that was. The common refrain is that the show was about the characters & relationships between them, and it was to an extent. You don't go 6 seasons without having bonds formed between the characters. But you have to admit that a huge chunk of the allure to the show was all the mystery surrounding the Island and just what was it. To some, the MIB seems a sympathetic character because of what "mother" and Jacob did to him. Why not just let him try to leave? There was no way he could have found his way back to the Island if he did leave when he wanted in the beginning. It wasn't until the Lamppost was created that the location could be estimated. Silly questions I know. "Whatever the hell that was"-Exactly! After spending 6 years watching this show, I still have no idea. If you had told me in season one we would never find out the answers to these questions, I would've bailed right there. But, stupid me, faithfully tuned in each and every damn week hoping to get some answers only to be met with more questions. Writers think they're being clever and smart with episodes like this and the Sopranos finale. But, I think they're being unimaginative and lazy.
  7. QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ May 24 2010, 12:05 PM) I've been thinking of the finale since I went to bed last night and I'm still processing it. Right now I'm of the mind that while the finale was emotionally satisfying, it left a lot to be desired on the intellectual side. Dammit, they dangled all of these intriguing questions and semi-concepts in front of us for six years and I invested a lot of thought into them and to just look at us and say: "they're all dead so they basically experienced the impossible" rings pretty hollow! For now anyway, I may come around as I continue to process it. I'm with you Jack. It feels as if the writers knew they were in so deep they couldn't possibly provide answers to all the questions so they copped out with this. I'm comparing this to the kid and the snow globe from St. Elsewhere.
  8. Is it just me or are they showing a ton of commercials tonight?
  9. QUOTE (Kenneth @ May 22 2010, 11:40 PM) QUOTE (Snowdog @ May 22 2010, 02:47 PM) Lets just remember that Caravan and BU2B have never before been performed live. Those could be the songs to which he is referring. first thing I thought when I read this.. But I'm sure there will be other songs they've never done live played besides those. I hope you are right
  10. Lets just remember that Caravan and BU2B have never before been performed live. Those could be the songs to which he is referring. I hope they're not and we hear some deep stuff we've never, ever heard live, but my money says he is talking about the new songs.
  11. QUOTE (BrightAntennae @ May 22 2010, 12:35 PM) QUOTE (metaldad @ May 22 2010, 10:08 AM) When is the last time they did not "Open With a Hit". The Big Money - Hold Your Fire Tour Force Ten - Presto Tour & Roll The Bones Tour Dreamline - Counterparts & Test For Echo Tour I wouldn't exactly call those hits. Maybe they got airplay back in the day, but do they still play these on the radio??? And I believe Score Out said "radio hit" for the opener, that even non Rush fans could identify. Typical radio staple Rush songs are: Tom Sawyer Limelight TSOR Freewill CTTH But then again, my local rock station plays crap...so maybe others get to hear a larger variety of Rush. That's why God invented the iPod...so we don't have to listen to FM radio anymore. On the contrary, those were "the hits" off of their respective albums.
  12. Everyone else is completely full of crap. I am the one who truly knows the set list because I have "inside connections" of which you are not allowed to know, 'cause I'm just important that way Anyway, I know the set list. The REAL one. And here it is: Making Memories Speed of Love Neurotica Madrigal Red Lenses Tai Shan Emotion Detector The Fountain of Lamneth Summertime Blues The Stars Look Down Jacob's Ladder Caravan BU2B Far Cry End First Set Tom Sawyer Barchetta YYZ Limelight TCE Witch Hunt Vital Signs Malnar Drum Solo Acoustic Dog Years I Think I'm Going Bald Need Some Love War Paint Lessons 2112-Overture Syrinx Encore The Big Wheel Bravest Face Double Agent Take it to the bank my friends. Thats the list.
  13. Saw this tonight. It was a good flick, though it won't be the timeless classic Gladiator is.
  14. QUOTE (tick @ May 17 2010, 10:52 AM) QUOTE (Snowdog @ May 17 2010, 10:48 AM) Disturbing. Thats the one word that comes to mind. You find yourself checking on your kids a bit more often after you see this one. Good film, but man, it was depressing. Yeah, I definitely felt a strong need to give my daughter a hug after watching this movie. No doubt. I can handle all the killing, maiming, butchering torturing of adults. But if its a kid or a dog, I just can't handle it
  15. QUOTE (hazlnut @ May 14 2010, 09:38 PM) Can we get all spoiler threads posted in a separate forum That is the entire purpose of this subforum. Your wish is granted. And, your welcome
  16. QUOTE (LERXST69 @ May 16 2010, 04:49 PM) I hope they bring back Xanadu. In full version I mean. A song that brought them forward a lot. Been away for quiet some time. And please don't cut that half way through to jump to Superconductor or some other kinda crap for crying out loud. I would love that, but its not going to happen, IMO. If they do play Xanadu, it will be the same abbreviated arrangement they played on R30. NS has been abbreviated, and Alex has already said TCE will be abbreviated (I'm not spoiling, this has been posted in numerous threads). And I am certain (highlight to spoil!) Jacobs Ladder will be abbreviated. I just can't see them doing it full length when they are abbreviating every other song that runs over 7 minutes. It sucks, but I'd still rather hear the abbreviated versions than not at all.

  19. I finally saw this last night and it completely blew me away. Especially the segments on Jack White. I really didn't have any idea who he was except he was in the White Stripes, and I admittedly hadn't emerged enough out of my musical cocoon to hear his stuff. But this guy just blew me away with his passion for music. Of course its always good to see behind the scenes with legends like Page & Edge and it certainly held my interest. But I found myself intrigued during the segments about White. He is a very eccentric and interesting person. So as of this morning I now own the complete discographies of White Stripes, The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather. I gotta listening to do so I better get busy!
  20. QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ May 11 2010, 10:20 PM) QUOTE (Snowdog @ May 11 2010, 10:13 PM) Yet another episode with "answers" that only raise more questions. This show is maddening! Still there were some major revelations. Oh, to be sure. Its just that every time they give us answers, it only surfaces to raise yet another question for me Its like, ok I got that answered, but damn, now I have to wonder about this...
  21. QUOTE (MileHighKid @ Apr 26 2010, 10:21 PM) I have a good feeling they will do one of the two: "In the End" and "Something for Nothing." They used them live often back in the day and it's been a while for either one - right? I can't remember the last time they did them......at least "In the End" has been a long time. In the End with the "One, two buckle my shoe"
  22. Yet another episode with "answers" that only raise more questions. This show is maddening!
  23. Me and a couple buddies are taking my 16 year old son to his 3rd Rush show.
  24. QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Apr 30 2010, 11:11 PM) Wow Snowdog!! Incredible timing! When I was over in Maui there was this awesome classic rock station called KROCK. Well they played their hit "The Dark Side" and it brought back all kinds of memories. I loved watching this movie over and over again on HBO! There is no doubt that this movie is a CLASSIC!!! I must've seen this one on HBO 50 times as a kid. Knew every line. Loved the movie. And saw it again tonight for the first time in about 25 years +/- And it was kinda cheesy, but I loved every minute of it
  25. I did several searches here in VV to check for a thread on this and came up empty. So, if I somehow missed a thread, I apologize. But anyway.... This was on earlier tonight. I hadn't watched it in, oh, about 25 years. But I loved it as a kid. Yeah, at times its classic cheese, but it really is a good rock and roll movie and the soundtrack (to me) is really fun, good time R&R that I enjoy listening to. And I think Michael Pare nails the part of Eddie. A young Tom Berenger is intriguing as the "Word Man." and Joe Pantoliano is perfectly cheesy and the bands manager. This film is such a guilty pleasure of mine, I can't believe I've never discussed this before here. Anyway, I'll turn it over to you guys. What do you think of the film and what are your favorite performances/parts? edit for spelling
