  1. You've got this album in the wrong category... Absolutely not. The release date is 1/1/80. Everyone knows this is an '80s album :)
  2. Geddy was trying SO HARD not to bounce around the stage.
  3. Featuring the original Fat Alex! Not to be confused with Slobovich.
  4. Isn't Andy Richards responsible for the keys on Middletown Dreams and Emotion Detector?
  5. So awesome. Dun dun dun...dun dun dun...dun dun dun...dun dun dun
  6. Working Man By-Tor 2112 Cygnus X-1 BU2B
  7. But without hydrogen there would be no water. And if there's no water then there's no beer.
  8. Now if we could only figure out what exactly "Dead fly cookies" refers to (or maybe we don't want to know! ) What about Chivas Regal? Well, Chivas is a whiskey, so I can understand that (must have been before Neil could afford The Macallan 18 yr.!) But dead fly cookies? mmmm, must have been good times on the road! Neil drinks the Macallan 12 which to me is crap. You maybas well drink Chivas and save $20. The Macallan 15 is rhe best age for that particular still. I love the 18 year but at $200 a bottle I can't justify the expense.
  9. I agree. IIRC they have said they don't "waste" any songs when they are recording.
  10. Two broad interpretations, choose one depending on your political leanings: 1. Liberal View: The Oaks are the elite, taking up the lion's share of resources and wealth and showing disdain for those beneath their status. The Maples decide to unionize and achieve some degree of equality. Egalitarianism. 2. Conservative View: The Oaks should have the freedom to achieve and their property rights and gains should be protected. The Maples are shiftless layabouts who are forcing the Oaks to share their bounty. Libertarianism. I don't know what the utilitarian view is, as we don't know whether the Oaks or Maples constitute the majority.
  11. A character in a book written by a hack.
  12. Same here, I watched it with my nearly 6 year old son. He wants to be a drummer and loves watching Neil. The end really got me, and then thinking about how my son will never see them live pushed me over the edge. And damn you, Director, for ending it with The Garden!
  13. Yeah, Neil's an introvert and can come off as a cold jerk. But how many of us are introverts (I am) and can act the same way? Personally I hate that they won't tour, and as much as I know it's irrational I have some resentment towards Neil. Rush is such a part of my life, how could I not feel that way? But then...but then I remember it was Neil that reached out to Ged and Al to get back together to record VT and in the end give us 13 more years. And if he hadn't done that there wouldn't have been 4 studio albums, numerous concert videos and I don't know how many concert dates. And the R&R hall of fame. And "I Love You, Man". And The Colbert Show. And Drum Solo week on Letterman. And an appearance on Chicago Fire. And Beyond the Lighted Stage. And Time Stand Still. And vindication for the band and for us fans. And whatever else I can't think of at the moment. None of that would have happened without those phone calls from Neil in the early 2000's. So, thank you, Neil, for giving us more than we could have hoped for these last 15 years.
  14. I can think of 8 great songs they could cover: Summertime Blues (Blue Cheer version) Heart Full of Soul For What It's Worth The Seeker Mr. Soul Seven and Seven Is Shapes of Things Crossroads
  15. Meh. Usually one I skip over when I listen to the album.
  16. I agree that the bones of the story were good. There was so much that could have been done with this character and the story but it was dropped in favor of juvenilistic drivel. The book seemed really hurriedly written with very little thought given to fleshing out the story. I'm not sure Anderson can write at a more mature level. I was extremely disappointed with the book. Maybe when my son is 12 I will let him read it, since that's the age it is written to. Just have him read Candide. There are no new story ideas out there but this was just a pitiful excuse for a book. Candide? ;) Yes, Neil and Kevin ripped off Candide.

  18. No one of consequence. A character created by a hack writer, a writer who is looking to cash in by riding Rush's coattails.
  19. I'm a little surprised this was broadcast given its dubious origins. I suspect that Necromancer video was a fan made thing taken from somewhere. I suppose they could have gotten it from the guy who was there at the beginning. That said I've always had my eye out for this but I've never been able to find it for the $10 I'd be willing to spend on such a thing. And you know, ten bucks is ten bucks.
  20. I've heard what he is talking about but I always thought it was intentional. That it was accidental is what Bob Ross would call a "happy accident."
  21. Vox: Lzzy Hale Gee-tar: Tom Morello (agreeing with earlier post) Drums: Dave Grohl
  22. Nice, and nice bracket! Connecticut went from 6 to 7 positions a couple of years ago, I agonized whether to go with Rush themed or one after my college. BADGERS won out over YYZ2112. SYRINX would be a good choice for a 6 position plate.
  23. I know all about your classic rock. Maybe I should move to Canada as a f***ing lonely republican!! APRIL WINE? HELIX? MAX WEBSTER? NEIL YOUNG? KEEP ON ROCKING IN THE PRISONED WORLD! THE TRAGICALLY HIP TRIUMPH BRYAN ADAMS DUH BTO FM PAT TRAVERS PLATIMUM BLONDE GOWAN Whatever. Typing shit on a public forum is useless. No one can change the world. I'm sure ISIS will never waste their time in Canada Maybe I will move there!!!! Socialism! FREE MEDICINE!!!!!!!!!! So Canadians who read this. You want to get serious? Tell me how wonderful it is to have a small business there. I'm all eyes. EYES WIDE SHUT This is so funny. I listened to "Reckless" tonight when I got back from Vegas. So funny. So fuckking funny. This thread is like a bait trap for me. I went to this club at Treasure Island. The DJ started ranting out loud "FUCKK DONALD TRUMP!!! FUKK DONALD TRUMP!!" I was repulsed and instantly did and EXIT STAGE LEFT. Funny how TRUMP TOWER is right next to Treasure Island. Hilarious. Hilarious Clinton. CanaDUH is the last place I would move to if and when the CLITONS get in. You guys can rip me. Ban me, hate me, but like in love and relationships it's always a two way street. We are fuckked no matter what. You liberals losers think I'm the whack job ranter? I'm a f***ing American. I'm a man. A responsible small business owner who the Clintons will crush and destroy. I have my daughters. The future of America. A once proud nation. If anyone should leave America it should be the lazy liberal losers who don't do shit for our country. Do you tell a Vet or a man or woman in uniform how much you respect them for their service? Nope!! Just keep eating your Burger King and drinking that Pepsi 2 liter bottle that is flat in the back for your broken down fridge. Damn. I feel like a great white shark who just played with a seal pup before ripping it to shreds. Threads? RIP HER TO SHREDS!!!! BLONDIE? CLINTON? You make the call!!!! Liberalism is a mental disorder. I ain't moving out of the country no matter who gets in. This is my fuckingg country too. I'm a proud American. I support the troops. I support destroying terror. Yep! I know!! All of you losers think Bush was behind 9/11. So cliche. Ranting is so fun.. But luckily Vegas kicked my ass emotionally, Not financially!! WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!!!! CLINTONS!!!!!! ROBERT REDFORD FOR PRESIDENT!! THAT DUDE LOOKS LIKE THAT INFECTED BLONDE CHICK IN "PRINCE OF DARKNESS!!" LOL!! The Princess Of Darkness will be in the White House next year!!! Seriously, why hasn't this thread been closed/moved to SOCN already? I always find it amusing that conservatives are so hateful, spiteful, nasty. For instance, I've never called conservatism a "mental disorder". There's enough room in this country for liberals and conservatives. I don't usually agree with conservatives and their positions (especially the past decade or so) but that's part of what makes our melting pot so great. America has it's faults, just like every other country on earth. But it hasn't stopped being "great". "In different circles we keep holding our ground, Indifferent circles we keep spinning round and round..."
