  1. Love Nicko. I highly recommend the Maiden documentary Flight 666; you get to know the lads and see their worldwide tour. It was made by the same guys that made BTLS.
  2. The DJ (I think it was Dusty Street) mentioned that she has been asked numerous times about a Rush channel and she said that there have been some developments lately but nothing that could be shared. Fingers crossed! Notable songs this morning that I hadn't heard until now include Digital Man, BU2B, and Xanadu.
  3. I found a video! The Tribute starts with around 21:50 remaining. They played Limelight and The Big Money followed by...a snippet of KISS...then Spirit of Radio, followed by...a snippet of Zeppelin...then Red Barchetta. It's not that great, but then again they didn't have to do anything at all. The announcer did pronounce his name correctly, so there's that. https://www.facebook.com/8NewsNOW/videos/611850486259455/UzpfSTk2MDI4MTM1MDcwOjEwMTU3NjEwNjMwMTUwMDcx/?rf=107628315933005
  4. Looks like Fremont Street in Vegas had a tribute for Neil last night: https://www.reviewjournal.com/entertainment/entertainment-columns/kats/rush-neil-peart-focus-of-tribute-in-downtown-las-vegas-1937348/ Haven't seen any videos yet other than a band called Alter Ego covering Tom Sawyer:
  5. I don't think the sales uptick is from fellow Rushians - haven't we already bought every album by now? :)
  6. What are everyone's favorite quotes or sayings from Neil? Outside of lyrics. I have two, one that I've liked for years and one I just learned about: "Adventures suck when you're having them." and "Don't follow anyone. Be your own hero."
  7. I don't think it is necessarily out of bounds to love a band/artist so much that when they get up there in age you lament the fact that one day they will no longer be with us I am a huge Paul McCartney fan, and am of the mindset where I know in my lifetime we will see the headline "Paul McCartney passed away" and that inspires me to take in every note and every new song on his new albums and concerts that much more - and appreciate them Sir Paul probably will be the hardest hit for me outside of Rush. Gilmour and Buffett will be close behind.
  8. When copying a photo off the internet, be sure that it's a jpg image, then right-click it and select the Copy image address option. Then, come back to The Rush Forum. Just above the reply window, choose the Image icon from the toolbar. Paste the image address into that. I am trying to post a photo from my PC but can't seem to figure out how.
  9. Heard they were extending it to Sunday. I think I've heard Rivendell more in a week than I have the past three decades...
  10. "And then I knew it, even up to a year ago or so, he was in a wheelchair and he couldn't speak. This is crushing to read. Knowing that Neil was so active physically and intellectually, and losing that ability a year ago, is heartbreaking.
  11. Agreed. My hunch is that Neil kept a journal or personal blog of his battle with brain cancer over the 3.5 years. He was such an avid and gifted writer that seemed to have a passion for it. I’d be surprised if there’s not something. Whether it’s ever made public in any form is another story.... Hard to say. This type of cancer can and does affect speech and motor function. Also given there’s a pretty clear lifespan after diagnosis I suspect he spent as much time as he could doing what he loved with the people he loved.
  12. ^^^ This I’m sure there’s an intended reason it’s not widely available after 35 years. IIRC Neil said he didn't publish his earlier travelogues, instead sharing them with a few select people until he felt he had sufficiently honed his craft.
  13. They played Face Up a couple of hours ago
  14. Jim Ladd just announced they are extending the Rush Tribute Channel by "a day, maybe two"!
  15. I heard Clockwork Angels a bit ago. But you're right - the playlist seems to focus on pre-1990 material.
  16. That is fantastic. Thank you for the link. Makes me feel really good to know that Neil was listening to Hold Your Fire regularly. Tremendous album overall, and really tremendous lyrics. HYF is way underrated, IMO.
  17. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I was touched and I hope you can take some solace in that there are (likely) millions of us sharing our loss of Neil.
  18. OK, you've convinced me to give it another go. It's the least I could do in memory of Neil.
  19. Yes- really good tribute, I thought. And here's a response from one of his fellow staff writers, NOT a really good tribute. Neil's body is barely cold and this jerk is slagging on him. https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/kyle-smith-has-never-been-this-wrong/
  20. Personally I found it jarring every time I saw a Rush lyric in there, as it made me stop reading. I think Anderson is a hack and it's unfortunate that he was the one to drive Neil's dream into existence. The book could have been so much more, but it felt like it was written for an 8th grader.
  21. They are using Deep Tracks as their Rush Tribute Channel through Wednesday - 24/7 Rush! So I wouldn't read into the channel name as an indicator of how deep they are going. But this afternoon I heard Entre Nous, Countdown, Red Lenses, and Making Memories. Not exactly songs known to the public at large... Also they will be airing a 2 hour special tonight starting at 7.
  22. OK, I see there are several of us posting in real time
