Thanks Snowdog! Wow, that was the absolute worst trainwreck I've ever seen from Alex. Wtf is going on?? I'm embarrassed for him. He should have went straight back to the hotel and played that solo at least 25 times. Is he geezing? http://www.bleachernation.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/facepalm-cat.jpg
  3. QUOTE (Jomboni @ Sep 11 2012, 07:24 AM) What's even better is getting the vinyl on vinyl Well, since I dont have a vinyl player, this is the next best thing.

QUOTE (canadianice @ Sep 10 2012, 07:14 PM) QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ Sep 10 2012, 07:11 PM) ....and someone who is very tech savvy and into music production, able to transfer what he had from his vinyl onto a CD. The result is a much improved audio experience.....sound is more spacious, more dynamic and I can crank it up nicely without getting blasted! I didnt have HUGE issues with the original sound, but the difference is something I can really appreciate now. yes it sounds really nice, i really enjoy it
  5. QUOTE (Tombstone Mountain @ Sep 10 2012, 07:57 PM) QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ Sep 10 2012, 07:46 PM) Rush doesnt owe any of us fans a thing except their gratitude, which they have expressed in various forms over decades. Look at the big picture. They have played quite a few classics in many recent tours, and while I share a certain disappointment about this current setlist, I know they chose it for valid reasons exactly not clear to us, but certainly not to piss the fans off on purpose!! I take it for what it is and appreciate that I can see them live today, playing many songs that I like, even though not nec my favs. Do I prefer some other songs in place of some currently there? Yes! Would have loved JL, Weapon, Different Strings, AFTK, Something for Nothing, Lock and Key, Alien Shore, Nocturn, etc etc. But, after seeing them live this past Friday, Im hungry for more and feel so grateful for the experience, even if it's not exactly what I had hoped. Keep it in perspective, guys. You have a right to express disappointment if you feel that way, but you dont have to be vitriolic about it or feel like you're being screwed on purpose. At the very least, Rush deserves our respect and appreciation on a basic level, even if we're not always happy with what they choose to do. Well said my brotha!!! what'd you think about the weird dwarf video? Haha! Was weird! A bit too goofy for my tastes, but hey, it's all in good fun!

  8. The heavy 80s focus surprised me, but looking back, I really enjoyed the show and hearing songs live I haven't heard in AGES! Would have preferred a greater career spread of their material. I TOTALLY loved the CA songs live!! KICKED MAJOR A^^!
  9. QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Sep 9 2012, 08:02 PM) All their material has equal relevance even if you don't like a certain album or period. I've heard the 70s era ad nauseum. I like that era mind you but the 80s had some good material as well. I see no reason why they shouldn't concentrate on the 80s when they've spent a good deal concentrating on the 70s. I would have liked more 70s, but I love the 80s songs they chose. You make a valid point. They played stuff they haven't in a LONG while and that's a good thing.
  10. QUOTE (Astroboy2112 @ Sep 9 2012, 07:34 PM) I dont believe the whole "they're not playing 70's songs cuz Geddy cant sing it" explanation. They are playing working man as well as Temples. Ged sang Circumstances & Bangkok on the S&A tour. I believe the real reason is the LYRICS. They picked songs that best suited the concept of Clockwork Angels. All the songs being played deal with social issues, humanism, man vs machine, etc and match the themes explored on CA and it's novel. I think this whole show is ONE big concept show. Poster Dayglow explained really well on another thread. You better believe that before it's all said and done they will play 2112 in it's entirety in a future tour. It's just that some of those songs old fans want dont fit the themes of CA and what they are triying to say TODAY. This
  11. QUOTE (tullfan @ Sep 9 2012, 06:23 PM) Rush gives their 70s fans a middle finger on the CA Tour. With ticket prices averaging $100.00 + this is what they do ? By what I can tell on this forum many of you are younger and have no problem with this, but you know what, Rush became popular during the 70s. Us older fans went to their shows, bought their albums, t shirts and tour books. Had a great time. This all came to a head when Moving Pictures came out and Rush was king. Record sales through the roof. All was well in Rushworld. Signals came out and was great and then they get the bright idea to not use Terry Brown and start dropping their epicness for a bunch of lame 80s records and set list that started the trend of completely ignoring their past along with a segment of their fan base, you know, the ones they gained their popularity on. It's very insulting to do this to the fans that got them there, but apparently there are other generations after who seem to love their post 1985 stuff. That's fine, I just think that Rush could put aside 45 minutes in their set list to please the older fans. After all that is the least they could do and they #!#@%ing know it. Instead they take the "This is what we are going to do and we can care less about the fans" attitude. O.K. fine. I give up. I will not be going to this show. The first Rush tour I will miss since the Hemispheres Tour. I was a diehard and they threw fans like me under the bus. I'm sick of it !!!!!!!!!!! Must be nice making tons of money playing a bunch of songs some of us don't want to hear, oh and by the way, make sure no one steals your t-shirt money Rush because you don't make any on the concert ticket. Give me a #$@%ing break. Need a tissue?
  12. QUOTE (kentpilot @ Sep 9 2012, 03:23 PM) QUOTE (Mr. IsNot @ Sep 9 2012, 02:55 PM) Download available yet? Or did I miss it? Thanks a lot for this, this is awesome No it's not, don't worry it'll be up for a long time. I'll PM you when it's up if you want, I'm just kind of at wall right now, I didn't sleep last night and just went grocery shopping it being a show night I'm reading the speculation forums a bunch... forgive me WAKE UP WAKE UP You're very generous. Im grateful!!!!
  13. QUOTE (Astroboy2112 @ Sep 8 2012, 07:54 PM) About the dalmatian on the tour book, besides the signals cover, The Watchmakers pet in the Novel is a dalmatian. Did not know! Thanks for informing!
  14. For me, hearing CA songs yesterday live just reinforced and increased my love for the album. Yes, I was there! For anyone else who was there, any change of opinion.....better or worse? Here are my main concert impressions, also posted in another thread as a reply: Was seated wayyyyy up top in 208! Had earplugs.... but it was still darn loud Loved Grand Designs, Bravado ( esp the outro), Territories as far as "new" live songs.... LOVED CA live but wished 7 Cities instead of WTW. A Rush buddy who was with me now loves CA songs after hearing them live, whereas he was lukewarm before..... He said hearing them live " turned the corner" for him.... Too much 80s, wished more of an even career spread......esp 70s. Disappointed that Losing It and Jacobs Ladder not there.....not more of Signals?? I thought Signals more heavy represented, given the 30 the anniversary and dog and hydrant picture on the tour book? Loved Sub as the opener and AK live always rocks! Did not like video footage.....just weird...... Strings sounded too subdued....but LOVED seeing them in action....they were rocking with the tunes! The woman violin player was cute! Loved the light show! Will see them again in Boston on Oct 24th.
  15. Was there last night.......up top in 208! Loved Grand Designs, Territories as far as new live songs.... LOVED CA live but wished 7 Cities instead of Wish....A friend of mine now loves CA songs after hearing them live, whereas he was lukewarm before..... 16. QUOTE (sdhonda @ Jul 31 2012, 05:59 AM) Can't say that I think the first 5 songs are better or worse than any other run mentioned, but... I think it is terrible to compare by mere song count. Hemispheres can't count because it's only 4 songs? The title track is 18 minutes long. Be fair and compare by timing. Caravan through Carnies = 30 minutes. I get your point. You could do it tat way.
  17. QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Jul 30 2012, 09:48 PM) Absolutely! When comparing CA to a MP or PW keep in mind all the extra recording time. If Moving Pictures had 40 minutes, and you took Clockwork's best 40 minutes you'd have: Caravan BU2B Clockwork Angels The Anarchist Carnies Headlong Flight The Garden Not a bad album!
  18. QUOTE (NYM86 @ Jul 30 2012, 09:27 PM) Nah. Permanent Waves tops it. I agree....it's my second fav....CA is third.
  19. CA is a musical journey in totality, but to me, the first five songs together are collectively some of the hardest hitting and most impressive run of songs they've ever put together. It's my third favorite five song consecutive run after 1. Tom Sawyer-Camera Eye and 2. Spirit of Radio-Different Strings. Signals five song sequence of Subdivisions-The Weapon is a VERY close fourth and would have beaten the run in CA were it not for Chemistry, which I am not a big fan of, but dont hate it either. Hemispheres technically has only 4 tracks total, so I did not count it in case you're wondering. I also love the five song sequence of Big Money-Territories, probably at fifth place with GUP's 2-6, Presto's 2-6, and Counterparts' first five right behind. For Presto, I would actually prefer tracks 2-6 instead of 1-5 just for liking the title song a lot more than Show Dont Tell, same with GUP for liking Kid Gloves a lot more than DEW. Ok, now go ahead and taunt me by making threads about your favorite Rush 2,3,4,6,7 etc....Or some other similar mockery of this thread........it happens a lot here and I can see it already!
  20. QUOTE (They Bow Defeated @ Jul 30 2012, 06:56 PM) QUOTE (substancewithoutstyle @ Jul 30 2012, 05:34 PM) QUOTE (An Enemy Without @ Jul 30 2012, 11:46 AM)Let's begin with the name. BU2B2. Bland. Uninspired. Uncreative. The name truly embodies everything there is to dislike about the song. It does a nice job of foreshadowing how boring the song you are going to listen to really is. When I bought the album I looked at the song list. I saw BU2B2 and thought, "why would they name a song that? What a shitty name." The name fit perfectly. It sucks. So let's discuss. What makes this song so bad? Why was it ever recorded? I don't care for it either, and always skip it. However, by being so angry and dismissive, you sound as if you're attempting to start an argument. I wouldn't mind discussing the song rationally. In fact, I agree that it's my least favorite on the album. But the tone of the OP is argumentative and insulting. Mission accomplished, I guess? This thread with all the attention and responses made his day....... Prettu sad actually!

  22. QUOTE (GeddysMullet @ Jul 30 2012, 05:24 PM) QUOTE (Rushman14 @ Jul 30 2012, 01:17 PM) an even better question is why does this thread suck so hard? Because it's the latest in a series of pointless threads started by people who apparently have too much time to think about the things they hate and want to share and spread their negativity.
