  1. Watershed was balanced perfectly when it came to the growls/clean vox... If they are not going the with the Heritage route, but not going back into what they were doing, that makes me really excited and curious about this album... 2013 just started, but it looks like Im already ready for 2014 music.
  2. Why does he constantly skip Texas? :(
  3. the first episode was very good... that Twyin/Tyrion scene was PERFECT.. almost directly as it was in the books... I am so glad they are on A Storm of Swords..
  4. I've heard a couple of the songs .. They're enjoyable.. I'll hold judgement till I hear the rest... But something I've noticed on the lady couple of albums, but I don't think Bowie's voice has aged well.. On the 2 songs I've heard on this album his singing seems half-hearted
  5. Slightly early on this, but at it's past midnight in the Beatles homecountry..... On this date in 1963, the debut album by The Beatles, was released... Happy 50th to John, Paul, George, and Ringo!! (posted this over on reddit as well)
  6. A Trick of the Tail and Wind and Wuthering I still consider among their "Prog era" albums... It was really after Steve Hackett left the band that Genesis started trending towards the shorter pop-heavy albums.
  7. This came out late last year, and I missed it then, but finally got around to listening to it yesterday, and it's pretty damn good...probably their best since "Culture of Ascent" I've been a fan of this band for a while, I really recommend them to anyone who enjoys old-school prog. I hope that since now Jon Davidson (frontman for Glass Hammer) is in Yes that GH can get a bit more exposure that they deserve.. If you've never heard of them I would reccomend this latest album, or perhaps the "Culture if Ascent" record, or my personal favorite if theirs "Chronomotree"
  8. :haz: I wonder if the dude in front of us ever made it out of the venue. Damn good show, especially the Afterman songs. Dark Side of Me was incredible live! Hell Yeah, awesome meeting up... excellent show.
  9. Great Concert last night enjoyed the hell out of Coheed's set and they killed it as usual... I will say I was VERY impressed with Between the Buried and Me live... They were amazing as well, and that was the first time I've seen them.. I got a few pics, but nothing of real good quality but I did get this video of "A Favor House Atlantic" enjoy...
  10. I've tried to make and posts my "top songs/albums" lists like these before... I just cannot do it.. If you ask me to list my top 100 songs I would list 300 songs worthy of such praise, or to list a top 25 albums, I would come up with 100 worthy of that praise... And trying to whittle them down is an impossible task.. I like a lot of different music for a lot of different reasons, so putting one song ahead of another makes me second guess myself... " Did I really put this album of that one?" "I like this song more, but that other song is better..how should I rank that?" "I love dozens of these artists and want them represented, but only 3 artists are dominating my top 15!!!" I've tried and tried to make a best or favorites list, but it's too damn hard... Goobs, I pity the hours you spent trying to sort through mounds of polished gold to try and sort it out by the shiniest.
  11. Austin? I'll be at the Show at Stubbs... Great venue, I've seen Opeth and Zappa plays Zappa there. Yep. I'll be there too, probably early enough to grab a bite to eat. I saw Coheed there for the Neverender SSTB show and loved it! Excellent, don't have a C&C shirt, so I'll prbly be wearing my Clockwork Angels tour shirt
  12. Initial listen... Suffice to say I loved it, not a dull track every song amazing... Too early to pick favorites now, but early calling it the title track, and the watchmaker are topping my lists... I will also say that I'm more impressed with this after one listen than I was with Grace for Drowning.... And Iove that record...and after a few mor spins will probably rule this album better than GfD.. However no song here rises above the masterpiece that was "Deform to form a Star" but close... Those are initial impressions, things could change... P.S. Theo f***ing Travis!!! I've been a fan of his a while as a member of "The Tangent"... But his work on this album is beyond compare..
  13. From a few days ago... The official season 3 trailer with new footage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzI9v_B4sxw
  14. Austin? I'll be at the Show at Stubbs... Great venue, I've seen Opeth and Zappa plays Zappa there.
  15. Stopping at the record store on the way home from work today!!
  16. Sorry for another double post... The mobile version of TRF makes quoting posts a bitch..
  17. Rogers actual solo material I find enjoyable... Hitchhiking was fantastic, short, but not overly dark like The Wall, or Final Cut... Nor even Animals. And if you can get past Rogers politics "Amused to Death" is phenomenal Other than a couple of tracks I've never been too impressed with Radio KAOS though.
  18. It's definitely not my LEAST favorite Pink Floyd song, but it was an experiment that just didn't work at all. I don't mind the music in this song, it's nice and mellow, featuring some good piano work from Rick Wright..... But the breaks in the song that feature the breakfast and eating sounds and people talking about marmalade annoy the hell out of, and ruin the song for me.
  19. 1. Shine on You Crazy Diamond (also My favorite song of all time) 2. Echoes 3. Dogs 4. Brain Damage/Eclipse 5. Wish You Were Here 6. In the Flesh 7. Arnold Layne 8. On The Turning Away 9. The Great Gig in the Sky 10. Wot"s Uh....The Deal 11. Interstellar Overdrive 12. Time/Breathe(reprise) 13.Coming Back to Life 14. Pigs (Three Different Ones) 15. A Saucerful of Secrets (Live versions with David on ending vocals) . . . . . . . (Least Favorite/Dislike) 1. Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast
  20. New Acoustic live album/DVD/Blu-Ray coming out... "An Acoustic Evening at the Vienna Opera House" Out on Mar. 26 http://s.recordshopx.com/cover/normal/3/34/345196.jpg?lp There's a trailer as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nL7WY5rI6HQ Edit to add.... I couldn't find an official track listing, but this is the setlist from the show in Vienna where the show was recorded via Setlest.fm... so I assume this will be the tracklisting as well. Palm Trees Helicopters and Gasoline Jelly Roll (Charles Mingus cover) Dust Bowl Around the Bend Slow Train Athens to Athens From the Valley / The Ballad of John Henry Dislocated Boy Driving Towards the Daylight High Water Everywhere (Charley Patton cover) Jockey Full of Bourbon (Tom Waits cover) Richmond Stones in My Passway (Robert Johnson cover) Ball Peen Hammer (Chris Whitley cover) Black Lung Heartache Woke Up Dreaming Encore: Sloe Gin (Tim Curry cover) Seagull (Bad Company cover)
  21. Listened to the new album today...WOW, superb record. Their last 3 releases (Shrine, Memories in My Head, and Anno Domini) have been the best of their career, hopefully they are not peaking now, but just WOW.. Dont get me wrong, I love Out of Myself, Second Live Syndrome, and Rapid Eye Movement, but for the most part those records kind of sound the same... good but was laking in forward strides on those albums.. The last three though... as I said.. WOW
  22. On a side note, Can anyone give me a synopsis of the story behind C&C's albums...or provide a good link that tells the stories of these albums? I've tried going through the lyrics and find the story kind of hard to follow.. (thought admittedly have not tried all that hard.
  23. Finally had a good enough drive to-and-from work today to listen to the album... I like it, mostly.... these are my initial impressions. The only track I did not care for was "Number City", not terrible, but the weakest track on the album.. The softer tracks ("Away We Go" and "Iron Fist") were okay... but they have much better "softer songs" (Wake Up, and Pearl of the Stars to name two). The rest of the album was fantastic though, I thought.. and a good 2nd half and continuation of the first half of the album that came out last year.... Again, these are first impressions, after one listen. I still need to hear "Ascension and Descension" back to back and see how well they play off each other but I liked this album very much, not as much as I liked "Ascension", but still far and away better than YotBR, and NWFT. On the production side of things, I did notice that Descension did sound a bit muddy, something I didn't notice on Ascension... Not too bothersome, but noticeable.
