Shyamalan's a great director. He can make very suspenseful films, and knows how to get what he wants to see on camera, and with very good results. His abilities as a screenwriter is a diffrent issue.........
-
I always try to give his films a try, but I am usually dissapointed. Don't get me wrong Shamalan's a great director, but his screenwriting skills are not very good IMO. The trailers for his movies always seem better than the actual movies.

Wow, that's hard to remember.....probably something Disney.

QUOTE (PuppetKing2112 @ Jan 31 2008, 06:05 PM) QUOTE (floydfanatic111 @ Jan 31 2008, 02:55 PM) Waters wants one more tour and one more album I'm all for a tour, but I don't know how much I'd want to hear a new album, even with the original lineup. I have my doubts that it would be good, unless all four of them are 100% passionate about it. It's totally possible for them to reunite for a tour, but I doubt Gilmour could be talked into recording another album, and as a result I feel like it would probably be a forced effort if they did it. Plus then there the issue of writing the material. One thing about Waters leaving the band in the 80's is that it allowed David to flex his writing muscle, which was really good.....diffrent....mabey not "Floyd"....but David is a very good song writer. And we still got to see Waters carry on songwriting as well "Pros and Cons" was a fantastic album, "KAOS" was passable, but "Amused to Death" is probably one of my all time faviorate albums (probably a top 10). Plus it was songwriting that broke the band apart in the first place, because lets face it, Waters was a control freak, a genius, but too dominering who was basically an asshole to the rest of the Band. Floyd hasen't truly written together since "Wish You Were Here". I just think getting that group together and trying to do another album might not work out so well, and I would be perfectly content with a reunion tour. But It would be truly a testimate if Floyd could get back together and write an album together without bickering, and I think it could be something that would shatter any kind of expectation.

I am just getting fustrated by the lack of origionalty in horror movies this decade. Too Many Re-Makes And I know they won't have Robert Englund play Freddy. That is an immediate turn off for me. Englund brought that character to life, no one else can play the Springwood Slasher.

A New "Nightmare on Elm Street" God am I getting tired on American horror since the turn of the Millenium....How Many Remakes have there been.......... Either we are f***ing Up good Asian Horror movies by Americanizing them. Or we are taking American Horror Classics and re-making them WHEN THEY DON'T NEED IT. Now it seems we have two more franchises to add to the list...probably the 2 most influential in American Horror. A remake of "Friday the 13th" (which is already in pre-production) and "A Nightmare on Elm Street". The Link I posted states that they are starting a "New Franchise", and Re-Imagining Nightmare. Why, why is this happening? Where is the origionality in American horror? I would have been thrilled if they were working on the "next installment" of the Nightmare, or F13th franchises...but full remakes and new franchises? And you know they are going new actors, and I don't know about you but it is nothing short of a travesty to see anyone else but Robert Englund play Kruger. Yes, the "Remake Syndrome" is a disease that as engulfed American Horror. And the worst part of it all is...............................................................................................................................MICHAEL BAY IS HEADING UP THE PROJECTS!!!!!!!!! What the hell does Michael Bay know about a good story, much less horror movies. He wouldn't know a good story if it pissed on his foot. All he knows well is special effects, which makes the "Nightmare, and Friday" remakes even sadder....horror movies have the beauty of not needing special effects. This is a sad day in horror my friends....a sad day.

QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Jan 30 2008, 08:31 PM) QUOTE (The Owl @ Jan 29 2008, 12:38 PM) Kevin Smith is a really funny guy, If you enjoy his films, you might enjoy him answering fan questions. I very strongly reccomend theses selections. http://www.dvdeastereggs.com/dvd_images/evening_with_ks.jpg and http://www.cinemaparadiso.co.uk/Covers/HI/0704/070412123158.jpg Plus he is releasing his 3rd Q&A DVD sometime later this year (Around April would be a good guess). Unfortunatly he cannot use the "An Evening With" title again, the tenative title will be called Kevin Smith: Sold Out Thanks for the tips! Your Welcome. They are very funny, and pretty long too. OVER 3 hours each (and It does not get old). Check out this clip from the First one.

Floyd (But only if Roger Waters is a part of the act) Don't Get me wrong, I love David Gilmour. He is by far my faviorate guitarist. But Floyd, the True Floyd..is and will always be Gilmour, Waters, Mason, and Wright.

QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Jan 21 2007, 01:58 PM) I just read a book (in two days) called "An Askew View: The Films of Kevin Smith." Not a bad read for fans like me. Read Kevin Smiths books as well..very intresting. Both books are a collection of his writings that he's done on his internet blog, or from other sources. I've read his first...."Silent Bob Speaks" His second "My Boring Ass Life" I have, but I haven't read yet. Got the book for Christmas but I am reading other things at the moment.

QUOTE (pedro2112 @ Jan 26 2008, 07:58 PM) QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Jan 25 2008, 11:41 AM) Toshiba recently dropped the price of their HD-DVD player to $139.00. That pretty much smacks of desperation. Though I have to admit that it's very tempting because there's a whole heckuva lot of good titles available on HD-DVD. I think I'll still wait and go Blu-Ray. Jack, I"ve got Blu-Ray. It's worth every single penny. Plus like I said HD-DVD is finished. Blu-Ray has won the format war. Warner Brothers, and New Line Cinema just went Blu-Ray exclusive. And Warner Brothers controls 30% of the home video Market. All that HD-DVD has left is Paramount, and Universal studios, and I don't think they will wait long to jump to the other side either. This huge price drop that HD-DVD is doing is akin to "doubling down". But they have a losing hand. HD-DVD is defeated.
-
I think for the most part I will keep my standard DVDs. And I think that I will upgrade very little. Really the only movies that I have already and will sell to upgrade them to blue ray will be. The Star Wars Saga Indiana Jones (I guess quadrilogy now) and The Lord of the Rings as well
-
I say that you're pretty safe in going out and buying a Blue Ray player. It looks like Blue Ray has won the format war. Just recently Warner Brothers (who controls 33% of the home video market) signed a deal which will make them Blue Ray exclusive starting in May. This leaves with HD-DVD with only Paramount (and it's subsideries), and Universal (and Subsideries) as the only studio support that HD-DVD has. And how long before Universal or Paramount fold into the pressure and go Blue Ray as well? Blue Ray has won the War.. HD-DVD will fade into obscurity. The "Downfall" of HD-DVD

I just bought "Live at Boudokan", and finished listening to it. It rocks That is one thing I like about Dream Theater, in regards to live albums. Each is unique Live at the Marquee is completly diffrent from "Once in a Live Time" diffrent from "Scenes Live In New York" from "Boudokan" from "Score" So far my faviorate live album is "Score". But I admit I still have to get "Once in a live time" and "Live at the Marquee"

QUOTE (Mandalorian Hunter @ Jan 24 2008, 05:25 AM) Is 'Something, Something, Something Dark Side' the answer? And the answer to the other one is Adam West? You're up!!! So no expanded universe questions? Just the movies?

QUOTE (Mandalorian Hunter @ Jan 23 2008, 07:29 PM) QUOTE (The Owl @ Jan 23 2008, 09:15 PM) OK. With the sucess of the Family Guy adaptation of "A new hope" epiosode entitled "Blue Harvest". The family guy staff decided to make the a second adaptation of "The Empire Strikes Back". The title of the episode will be called ___________ and who played Gran Moff Tarkin in the Family Guy episode "Blue Harvest"? Oh man, now you've opened up a can of worms Other members did not like it when we did questions on anything other than the movies, not that they posted much, but still I wouldn't know the answer to this, sorry. O.K this will be the only time I ask that type of question. But I still would like an answer. (as it relates to the film triology, not the E.U) So, no expanded universe questions? I don't see why not, its official canon. It's not just books, you have video game questions, TV series. Okay, no KOTOR questions.

QUOTE (Sark @ Jan 22 2008, 11:07 AM) O.K. How many Jedi were shown to be killed during the order 66 scenes in episode 3? Mace Windu- Palpatines Office Ki-Adi-Mundi(Big Forhead guy) - on Mygeeto (Gunned down by Clone Troopers) Aayla Secura(Blue chick) - Felucia- (Clone Troopers gunned down) - One gunned down on a speed bike (in the canyon planet) -One gunned down in his fighter (in the Halo looking planet) - The Padwan killed when Bail Organa comes to the jedi temple 6 that I can think of off the top of my head, that were seen out of the 8 attempts (Yoda, and Obi-Won), plus I didn't know wether or not to count Mace or not (technically it wasn't order 66 yet), but I did. And thats not counting the younglings, or any of the background deaths dutring the invasion of the Temple.

HOLD THE PHONE IGN: Cloverfield 2??? A bit early for discussion of a sequel, but I'm all for it. Though it will not truly be a sequel (read the article) just another POV of the same event. But a good idea...mabey...depends on the approach, and how they would advertise this film.
