You stole my answer! I was going to say, get every Pat Metheny you can get your hands on. Still Life Talking & Imaginary Day are my personal favorites. I have seen him a few times. Friggin unbelievable! Antonio Sanchez on drums- simply Amazing! Between Pat, Lyle & Antonio, you just can't get better talent on a stage. Period!

  9. VH II is my favorite Fair warning a close second & then Van halen I next
  10. Hey I saw them too when they opened for Aerosmith in 1988, they were awesome!! Raw & like a chainsaw! One of the best shows ever. I think it is safe to say they didn't always suck live. When they were on, they were the best, when they weren't-suckage!! I saw them with Metallica on the Illusion tour & ya know they were good, but the 88 show was incredible. Much better. All cylinders were firing. They were just hit & miss. Have you guys seen live at the Ritz in 88?? Awesome! When they first started out I think they were better. The illusion tour was so controlled music wise & less spontanious IMO. I definately prefer Adlers rawness on the drums myself. Illion tour was decent, less spontanious & energetic. I bought recently the live in Tokyo dvd. It is horrible. My husband & I looked at each other & just ended up turning it off. The more he toured he became so scripted & conscience of his moves. The sound & music played live went downhill. Gnr in 88 were incredible. They had a few bad shows, but man when they were on, they were on.
  11. I would definately agree that it is one of the best albums ever made! Every song on there is great. I remember in the summer of 87 I was listening to a pirate heavy metal station in Dallas that played them before they hit the mainstream. I loved them from the first time I heard them. They started out playing Jungle & Think About You (which is one of my faves). It's funny, because they never played Think About You on mainstream or have they played it live in concert. After that they added Rocket Queen & My Michelle. My best friend got me the cassette for X-mas at the end of 1987. It was my favorite- I frickin wore it out!! I knew all the songs before they played it on mainstream. It was like a rocket that took off. Probably the freshest & rawest hard rock-EVER!! I love Axls voice- he was like no other
  12. I ordered Mike's new DVD on Monday. I should be receiving it anyday. He is such an inspiration
  13. QUOTE (deadwing2112 @ Mar 18 2007, 04:22 PM) QUOTE (double bass chick @ Mar 17 2007, 10:03 PM) I went to the Who tribute in Chicago. Let me say this, I am one of THE biggest Who fans & I mean one of the biggest. I am 37 & have been listening to them since I was 7. I know every word to every song, yada, yada. Kieth Moon was my biggest influence on my drum playing. They Fricken nailed it!!!! I mean NAILED it!!! You could have closed your eyes & thought you were at a real Who show. Every one of them. I was right under Sheehan. I had to pick my jaw off the ground. Portnoy, a Keith mini me. I know all the drum parts & I tell ya he had Pearts perfection with Keiths fire & passion & maniacal drum playing. Hit every little nuance, ding bam, ding, slap , crack!! I have been waiting for the dvd to come out. What is amazing, I talked to Paul Gilbert at NAMM in January & we were talking about that show. He said him & Portnoy had Bronchitis. He was very sick. Talk about pulling it off, whewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww- AWESOME!!!! Get the VID!! Portnoy is one of the best drummers on the planet right now. Very talented man. Whether you like them or not you cannot deny their talent. He really has taken the baton from Peart in a paying homage kind of way!! The biggest Who fan? You spelled Keith wrong. Just kidding. Good catch! Just a typo. I spelled it right later on in the post Dislexia maybe?? I'm not as think as you drunk I am officer
  14. When i first glanced at the topic of this thread, I thought it said Ozzy's testicles???????!!!!! I think I need glasses
