  1. I could not agree..... LESS I would throw out Animate and Speed of Love but it is by far their best sounding and feeling album. The Grungy/Angry Stick it Out, the lyrcs in Nobody's Hero and Cold Fire, Cut to the Chase and Everyday Glory. Also Double Agent is an awesome example of Rush doing something truly different with Geddy's voice. I still remember listening to the album while lying in my bed and having Geddy's voice scare the crap out of me during DA. Loved it!
  2. I don't really feel any similarities between the Wreckers and Cold Fire at all but they are 2 extremely strong songs! I still have to give the edge to Cold Fire just from a clarity standpoint on the album. If CA had the production of CP I think it would become #1, but that is a different topic altogether.
  3. The best since Counterparts. That album is still number 1 with a bullet for me.
  4. Yep I mentioned this a while back in the previews. I definitely can hear some MFH mixed in to both of those tracks. Awesome stuff! Too bad we don't hear any Victor mixed in anywhere :-)
  5. When there is no option to choose "none of the above", BU2B2 gets selected. None of CA is anywhere close to heavy metal. Hard Rock absolutely, but nowhere close to heavy metal. Seriously? Next poll question I swear will be what Rush song sounds like it was made by Rush?
  6. Can anyone hear the Rush in this new album? It definitely sounds like Rush in many parts!

  9. I would have to say Geddy's vocals. They are just plain bad at this point. He does a good job with it and I love the album don't get me wrong, but you can just hear the strain in his voice. As I said I absolutely do love this album, but my fear is that it is going to end up where TFE, VT and S&A ended up. Songs I don't skip when they come up, but not songs I ever think about playing. In the case of CA it's because the vocals are so bad it is hard to pick out the lyrics clearly and I really enjoy singing along with Geddy in the car!!!! :-)
  10. QUOTE (presto123 @ Jun 1 2012, 03:46 AM) QUOTE (FountainOfSyrinx @ Jun 1 2012, 03:40 AM) My prediction? Most people consider it in the realm of T4E... honestly. What? You don't think people will like this better than T4E? Congrats. I think you are the first mediocre comment in 14 pages. Even when TFE came out everyone loved it at first. It wasn't until later that everyone got bored/tired of that album.
  11. No, I hear a bit of Working at Perfekt from MFH. I'll have to listen again but I hear a bit more from that album on the Garden as well. Loving it!
  12. I almost hear some Working at Perfekt on the Wreckers. Nice!
  13. QUOTE (losingit2k @ May 15 2012, 11:26 PM) QUOTE (pedro2112 @ May 15 2012, 11:20 PM) Dude, Relax. There is nothing different about this release than any other release of Rush. They announced the album was finished and they targeted a release date. They released a single a month or two before the release. You seem to be fixated on the idea that the band and/or Roadrunner are purposefully torturing you. They aren't... this is normal. It will be out when it comes out. Patience. I specifically mentioned that had nothing to do with this. I never said anyone was we're personally attacking me. Where do you get your info? I just feel that the release date is causing all this angst! All I'm saying is that we are all a little on edge 'cause we know there is a finish product out there and there is no way to listen to it! I beg to differ. RUSH is responsible for this. It would be just another album release if the boys didn't decided to take 3 years to write it. Roadrunner is the newbie in all of this having just signed the group. I Caravan and BU2B hadn't been out as long as they have we would not be having this discussion.
  14. QUOTE (presto123 @ May 10 2012, 01:31 PM) QUOTE (H. P. L. @ May 10 2012, 08:22 AM) In the last weeks, whenever I feel the need for a boost of self-confidence, I find myself going back to HF more and more. Up until now, my favourite Rush-penned confidence-booster was Far Cry. I'm not completely sold on HF, I find it too repetitive and those "some nights were daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaark" squeals... well, they don't seem to work for me, but there's no doubt that the power and the kick-a@@ value of the song are off the scale. I love that "some nights were daaaaaaaaaark" part. Me too. I wish that I could live it all again! oh wait I can....<restarts Headlong Flight>
  15. QUOTE (deslock @ May 8 2012, 05:04 AM) QUOTE (Steely Caress @ May 8 2012, 12:51 AM)I hate when they always say "best album since Moving Pictures"! It seems their last 4 studio albums have been hyped this way. Never gonna fall in that trap. If it is their best since counterparts it would be a win for me. But i try to let each album stand on its own with Rush, as it is pointless to compare to classics that have been around for 30 years. I agree that the comparisons to MP (which have been happening since HYF) get tiresome. But I also think their last few albums have been getting gradually better. IMO, since MP: PoW ~ MP > SnA > CP ~ VT > Sig ~ RTB ~ T4E > Presto ~ GUP ~ HYF This whole "better than album x" discussion is silly. I consider CP standing above all other albums but obviously many do not agree. CP / SnA / PoW / RtB / HyF / Presto are my consistent plays PW / Hemi / AftK / Signals / TFE are my sometimes plays the rest are rarely plays including MP But guess what....aside from Caress of Steel which I consider decent, EVERY other album kicks extreme ass in my book.
  16. QUOTE (furie @ May 1 2012, 04:34 PM) the only place i've heard it was sirius/xm 38 "the boneyard" Octane has also played Headlong Flight a couple times so far.
  17. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Apr 22 2012, 03:32 PM) QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Apr 22 2012, 04:31 PM) That whole talking (modulated) part through the solo is probably my favorite part, actually. Winner winner chicken dinner! I love when Rush puts non-Rush like parts in their song. Double Agent, Roll the Bones, Mal-Nar, Alien Shore, Time Stand Still, and now Headlong Flight. I think the speaking in HF is my least favorite, but I love the tidbits of weirdness they sometimes add to songs.
  18. I absolutely LOVE Headlong Flight. ....however.... I HATE the sound of this version. The music survives well enough but it absolutely destroys Geddy's vocals. Caravan and BU2B are crystal clear. If they re-recorded to sound like this we will indeed have Vapor Trails 2. My fingers are crossed that this is just a low quality version. Please let me be right....
  19. QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Feb 8 2012, 12:23 AM) I'm really loving the new Van Halen album as I would assume most of you are! It's fanfukkingtastic! I'm DEAF!!! Anyway I had to play the acoustic guitar intro over and over again on "Blood And Fire." It instantly reminded me of a few Rush acoustic guitar intros. What do you think Rushheads? "Blood And Fire" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tY7ZqN8Ksdg "Closer To The Heart" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quBCjo2rUZg "The Trees" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWHEcIbhDiw "A Different Kind Of Truth" is "ALBUM OF THE YEAR!" Will "Clockwork Angels" top it?????????? Yikes....what I'm hearing sounds pretty awful. Music is ok, but Dave sounds awful. Geddy on his worse vocal day is way more cohesive with the music than Dave is.
  20. Every month has a 2112 day for celebration next year! 1/21/12 2/21/12 3/21/12 4/21/12 5/21/12 6/21/12 7/21/12 8/21/12 9/21/12 10/21/12 11/21/12 12/21/12
