  1. Well...I don't like tossing around the words 'Masterpiece' or 'Epic' as loosely as some. Is it an amazing album? Hell yes. I'm very happy with it, and it's a fantastic record no doubt. But, I stop short of calling it Masterpiece, because if it's a masterpiece, then I'd have to come up with new words to describe Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, and Moving Pictures. Can't do it.

  3. Problems with their hearing, I'm sure.
  4. QUOTE (WCFIELDS @ Jul 1 2012, 10:23 PM) I get a kick out of guys throwing shit at trenken.....he makes a lot of valid points and has strong opinions. Some of you take it personally?.....grow up already. I agree with this. I'm admittedly a huge fanboi, but even I don't have issues with people stating negative thoughts or opinions. Who gives a shit if someone doesn't like a song you do? People hate Virtuality. I love it. Same with Neurotica. Who cares? I love CA, but if it's not someone's cup of tea, then so be it. No matter how good an album is...it's possible for someone not to like it.
  5. QUOTE (WCFIELDS @ Jul 1 2012, 09:10 PM) we don't need a string section. Record all the parts like they do with all the backup vocals/harmonies....
  6. QUOTE (metaldad @ Jun 26 2012, 04:39 PM) In my book they only put out 3 albums, the first 3 Almost agree...except I say 4. I know Hysteria is a bit 'poppy' if you will...and very radio-friendly, but it still rocks IMO. I understand it's not for everyone, and different from the first 3. But, I still enjoy it alot. Pyromania is fantastic.
  7. QUOTE (treeduck @ Jun 26 2012, 02:22 AM) QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Jun 25 2012, 09:09 PM) It's a great album IMO...but it's also not a Rush album. If Alex had been writing with him, the album would never have turned out the way it did. It does have a Rush flavour to it...moreso than Victor at least. But, it's still very different from a Rush album too. It's more RUSH than your mum, that'll do for me, it's a RUSH album!

  9. QUOTE (MCM @ Jun 25 2012, 09:17 PM) I see this show next week in Pittsburgh, really looking forward to it. Nothing but rave reviews, I hope it lives up to it. Don't worry...it will.
  10. QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jun 25 2012, 07:10 PM) since they made up their mind with the orchestra, at least fill the orchestra with good looking women, preferably blondes in short skirts. Maybe they could all be dressed like the PeW girl?!
  11. QUOTE (launchpad67a @ Jun 25 2012, 02:13 PM) QUOTE (FOH Lights @ Jun 25 2012, 11:00 AM) You guys should relax. Rush knows what their fans like (and don't like) and this show will be spectacular. Don't kill your pre-concert buzz over a non-issue. exactly! I'm sure they will be used only when needed. Don't worry, the concert will rock! I have zero doubt about that. I totally expect these concerts to rock hard...as usual!
  12. Yep, the sound was indeed superb. I mean, whenever they had the helicopter / airplane sounds, it was incredible. It felt like they were circling above me. I found that I kept looking up...so very cool. Just a top notch job by their production team.
  13. I'd say Caress of Steel certainly has metal. Listen to The Necromancer.
  14. QUOTE (Khan @ Jun 25 2012, 09:19 AM) QUOTE (Earthshine @ Jun 25 2012, 01:39 AM) Been into them for 35 years! I cannot believe how they get better EVERY ALBUM! Same here...since '77. Nobody else has ever come close in my eyes. Their longevity is just amazing. Yep...this is ultimately what separates them from everyone else IMO.
  15. Welcome to the Forum! Oh, and yes...I am concerned about it taking over. I would think they know their audience enough to know that most probably don't want a heavy use of it...especially on their classics. I guess we'll have to see what happens!
  16. QUOTE (metaldad @ Jun 25 2012, 12:44 PM) I prefer them sitting on chairs............in their House !
  17. I just posted this in the other Wall thread... Well, I went to the show this past Saturday night in Toronto. Needless to say...it was amazing. Thanks to all of you who mentioned how good it was and how I should definitely go. There was definitely no stretching the truth. It was quite the experience. I would've regretted not seeing it. Roger Waters can certainly still sing. Great job by him. I'm a huge David Gilmour fan, and wish he'd be part of this...but the guitar player did a fantastic job. I mean, the second solo on Comfortably Numb was one of the greatest solos I've ever witnessed live. Unreal. Highlights of the show for me: Comfortably Numb - again, one of the best solos I've ever seen live. Wow. Young Lust - I forgot how much this song f'n rocks Another Brick in The Wall (all 3) - always been a fan of these, but they sounded awesome live Hey You - one of my all-time favourite songs Run Like Hell - the videos in this one were really cool The production in general - hearing the helicopters / airplanes circling around my head, and watching the plane flying into the wall was beyond awesome... Overall, I'm so happy I went. I found it gave me a new found respect for the album. Over the years, I haven't found myself listening to it all that much, but watching this whole production really got me looking at this album in a different light. Just fantastic! I'm now joining the bandwagon of others stating that you need to watch this show live. It was worth every penny.
