  2. Well...I really don't see the guys ever making an official statement about a "Final Tour". I think it will just eventually...sadly...come about without notice. However, if they did...I imagine Tom Sawyer...though 2112 makes the most sense probably.
  3. You are definitely NOT the only one. I'm a HUGE fan of this song...have been since day one of listening to TFE. I've never understood the criticisms in regards to the lyrics, at all. Can some lines be considered "corny"? Sure. But I'm sure the same can be said for many other lyrics over the years...and that would include other songs from their 'Classic' period. Like it was stated above...the song was written for 1996...time to get over it people!! It's easily a top-three TFE song for me...along with Time & Motion and the title track.
  4. Well, based on the sheer hate these two seem to get all the time... Neurotica Virtuality They are probably my favourite songs on each of their respective albums...yet most can't stand them. Other than that, coming off an album that most fans enjoy... OPEN SECRETS Amazing song...beautiful music, excellent lyrics, and an outstanding guitar solo. HYF is an album that most fans hold in high regard...but this song is seemingly never one of the ones talked about. It's my personal favourite on HYF.
  5. This is both very difficult...and yet relatively easy as well... Cut To The Chase Open Secrets Something For Nothing Afterimage Neurotica There are tons...but these were the first few that popped into my head...and the first three especially have long been on my list forever.
  6. 1. BU2B 2. The Wreckers 3. The Anarchist 4. Clockwork Angels 5. Seven Cities of Gold 6. Headlong Flight 7. Caravan 8. Carnies 9. The Garden 10. Halo Effect 11. Wish Them Well 12. BU2B2 I'd say the bottom half is pretty much locked in, while the top half are pretty interchangeable depending on the day...
  7. That's OK, as long as there are Spam Threads, you'll never be the #1 poster. And because you'll overtake me... ;) keep your forbidden love out of EDs thread! His true "forbidden love" is for the Buccaneers...right TD?! ;)
  8. Hi Lyndsey! Good, been keeping busy of course! Glad to see a lot of the familiar faces still here!
  9. Haha...it is good to be back! :) I've had many great discussions and met fantastic people on here over the years! BTW...have Goober and metaldad been found???
  10. Also...just noticed people have mentioned it in here, and I agree... THE GARDEN The song itself is fine, and it captures some emotion for sure...but I recall people going completely gaga over it from the moment CA was released, and to me, it likely ranks near the bottom in terms of songs on CA.
  11. From a "radio hit" perspective...NEW WORLD MAN. (The fact that it was their highest-charting single is a bit mind-boggling to me, when I consider all of their other "radio hits".) From an "overplayed" perspective...probably CLOSER TO THE HEART. From a concert perspective...probably THE SPIRIT OF RADIO. (I could go with it being left off future setlists, personally.)
  12. Apparently my last post was all the way back in August 2013. Yikes! Time for me to start joining back in on the discussions! I hope that all of the 'vintage' TRF'ers are doing well, and look forward to meeting all of the "newbies"! ,
  13. Welcome to the club! Buckethead has been a staple in my music collection for about 4 years now (since I decided to check him out from Treeduck). The guy is AMAZING...and it sucks I didn't know about him earlier. Just so, so much amazing material to sift through...it's really awesome when you first start listening to his stuff. His collection is massive...and his styles vary enough to get everyone interested in something! It always kind of boggles my mind that he isn't more well-known, as I probably consider him my favourite guitarist (along with Satch). Instrumental stuff is amongst my favourite, and I love the diversity I get with Buckethead. There is always an album to match the mood I'm in. Happy listening!!
  14. Also...Happy Portugal Day! Thank you so much to all! It means a lot! I know that lately, I've gone through a lull lately where I haven't been on TRF nearly as much as I'd like to. It's been very busy! This little one has kept me very busy...but I've loved every second of it!! Doing her best "Starman" pose! :) http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t100/EmotionDetector/th_GabRush1_zps3f471dab.jpg
  15. Happy Birthday Brother! Hope you had a great one! (the best month for birthdays! )
  16. Hey Duck...yeah, I can definitely see your point. I'm a huge Satch fan, but I can agree with anyone that sees that point of view. While I enjoy all of his releases, and I've loved a lot of his recent output, he does seem to have settled on simply writing basic songs (verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge/solo, chorus, outro). It's the simple formula, and while still good, it's nothing bombastic. I wish he was a bit more like Buckethead, and just went out there and shredded it up. Like in Blue Dream, lots of great little pieces, some moments of shred, some vocal songs, etc. Mix it up...get experimental. We know he has the ability...he just seems to be content not pushing any boundaries which is a shame really. With that said, I've managed to listen to the first two and a half tracks (had to come back to work), and I like what I hear so far! :guitar: Yeah I tried for a long time, I got Crystal Planet and Engines of Creation which were not that great, and by the time I got to Strange Beautiful Music I'd had enough, that album was pretty much just a basic rock album, like a Steve Miller instrumental album or something, which would be ok if it was actually Steve Miller. And even the album title was basically Satch using his publishing company name like he'd run out of ideas. Since then none of the albums and stuff I've heard have tempted me back into the Satch fold. The only Satch stuff I've bought lately are the Chickenfoot albums, and he's pretty solid on there but hardly the great Satch of the 80's. Maybe it's a Samson thing? It's been ever since he lost his hair that his albums haven't been up to scratch? <<< Satch LOL...you may be onto something. But seriously, I've enjoyed a lot of his 2000's output. IMO, for consistency, his best albums in this stretch (since Crystal Planet) were "Is There Love In Space?" and "Super Colossal". Crystal Planet, for me, is probably my favourite Satch record since The Extremist. Consistently good the whole way. I was lucky enough to meet him two years ago, and the guy is just a real cool, down-to-earth fellow. It was great to meet one of my guitar heros! If I find the pictures and remember, I'll post them. I will weigh in on this album once I get a chance to listen to the whole thing.

  18. I usually agree, but for some reason, I've found some of Ozzy's "bonus tracks" to be better than many of the tracks from said album. We will see with this Sabbath one though... What bonus tracks do you mean? Oh, from Ozzy? Well, the first one that comes to mind immediately is "Nightmare". It was a bonus track from Black Rain. I know many are not crazy about current Ozzy, but I actually found Black Rain pretty good overall. But...Nightmare stands out as a song that kills most of what's on the actual record, to the point where I'm like, "what the hell were they thinking leaving this off?" He had another called "Don't Blame Me", from the 90's I believe, which I really like as well. There are others.
  19. Comes out tomorrow...looking forward to it. I do wish that Satch would be a little more experimental on these records, and do more shredding like back in the day. But, the guy is still a fantastic guitarist, and he has yet to release an album that disappoints me. Looking forward to hearing what "Unstoppable Momentum" has to offer...

  21. definitely the version im supporting. I don't think they should have called the album Queensryche though... LOL...I agree, as in I typically hate when bands use the band's name as the album title. BUT...this one is kind of okay, as in I am almost positive this is simply to rub a little salt in Geoff's wounds, as I'm sure he'll be pissed they are using the QR name in general, let alone on the album title. (Let's face it...Geoff's version used "F.U." on there's as a dig at these guys). We're back to the DLR vs VH days...lol.
  22. Sadly, this is not new at all my friend. I don't consider people sitting a "sin", but I damn sure consider people asking others to sit down a "sin". This is a rock concert, and people should be allowed to stand if they so please. I'm of the mindset that if you plan to sit, that's okay...but be aware that you might be sitting behind others who stand. That's why lately, I've been spending way more money to get close floor seats. So far, it has allowed me to stand freely...which I've loved. :guitar:
  23. Yep, heard this one a few weeks back. It's a good tune...but nothing mind-blowing. I'd just love to see Joe shred a little more, or at least reach outside the box a bit more. I'd like an album more in the vein of 'Blue Dream'. Either way, I've enjoyed all of his albums...so I'll be buying this one next week for sure. Great guitar player, great guy...met him about a year and a half ago, just a cool, humble dude. :guitar:
