  1. OP - I'm in the same boat. I remember my dad putting the CD on in our 1990 Toyota Corolla! Same with Different Stages. He went to the actual tour though - said it was amazing to see 2112. I wish they'd bring that back, but it never gets old for me to hear Overture/Syrinx/Grand Finale :7up:
  2. I definitely agree with this. Though I have to admit, I watch the DVD/VHS more than I listen to the album. I have a lot of love for HYF.
  3. For 7 years, Snakes and Arrows has been gradually growing on me. Spindrift is a good track - that one I didn't have a big problem with. Maybe by 2020, I'll be in love with the album...
  4. You are a newbie here but who cares! I like your style! Great post! Would you take "Rivendell" over "I Think I'm Going Bald?" "Dog Years?" "Carve Away The Stone?" YUCK! Actually I like Carve Away the Stone Earl!! :sundog: :smoke: :haz: :rush: Yep so do I. And Dog Years. Must be something up with me. Nothing is wrong with you! Carve Away the Stone and Dog Years both have their strong points! Don't let anyone change your mind :D
  5. As much as I like Lamneth, I'm not sure I'd want to hear the whole thing live. Same with Necromancer. Most of the audience would  . I do wish they'd play snippets for us, though. The crowd could snooze. I recently played the Necromancer for my friends and they asked me if I was trying to induce them to commit suicide. It was a pong tournament so the answer was yes. But still, I love the cinematic energy of the song. The beginning is meant to lull you to sleep, while the middle is an aggressive guitar assault. The end is the weakest section of the song for me, but it always seems romantically positive—the solos exude emotion...I just wish we had a great version live. I love that early Rush tunes required continued attention...there were many short stories set to song. It's also one of things I love CA, and why I'm so happy that we have almost the entire album live. Hey, if the crowd is going to snooze, I'll just push my way to the front and sing with Geddy and do air guitar/bass/drums. It'll be great. :D
  6. Just make sure you Keep Talking http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iY6-5aL8zT0 THIS POST MAKES ME SO HAPPY I WISH I COULD LIKE IT 500 TIMES Also this isn't a response, in case anyone got confused there for a second..
  7. This is going to be basically a bunch of jibberish to most people, but just bear with me and trust me that it sucked. Big time. I had to drop gel in a 35ish fixture F-cyc from the focus chair, except I was facing the back of the fixtures. So I was in a dark theatre and not able to see what the hell I was doing because the bridge between the stage left mid-gallery and the stage right mid-gallery was in my face. F-cyc gel frames load from the bottom and they have to bend into their place where they hook in on the top. Needless to say about four actually cooperated, and I was about to throw so many gel frames everywhere, it was ridiculous. They kept popping out, going in crooked, getting stuck. You name it, they did it! Basically everything but actually WORK. God forbid something would be easy in my work day.
  8. I'm just talking, this has nothing to do with responding :D-13:
  9. I posted this in the "What does everyone do for a living" thread, but I figured I'd post here too. I'm an overhire electrician for major regional theatres in the Boston area. In this pic I'm about forty-some feet in the air changing lamps on some fixtures that were in a hard-to-reach place. :) http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e195/Rush_Fan22/1185231_10152108192097166_1385702752_n.jpg
  10. I am a student. But I also work in the library on campus for work-study. My real job is as an overhire electrician for major regional theatres in Boston. Hangin' lights n' things. Here's a bad pic of me working today! http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e195/Rush_Fan22/1185231_10152108192097166_1385702752_n.jpg I'm about forty-some feet in the air changing lamps on some fixtures that were in a hard-to-reach place.
  11. And the repeating lyrics on The Larger Bowl. Actually the whole song and the album it came on. :laughing guy:
  12. even hackett had a pop period in the 80s Eeeexactly.
  13. I'm so happy I've found someone that actually agrees with me on that! I appreciate what they did for their genre and whatever, but other than that...
