  1. wait, good electronica? On here? Boards of Canadia are awesom3
  2. QUOTE (MULTIPLIED REACTION @ Nov 10 2008, 01:20 PM) Blue Oyster Cult is underrated in my opinion. BOC were the first classic rawk band I was really into Fire of Unknown Origin is still one of my favorite albums
  3. I have absolutely no friends and live in the middle of nowhere
  4. DT, they can write lyrics that don't suck from time to time . I actually quite like Train of Thought
  5. Queen - A Night at the Opera I heard Bohemian Rhapsody all the way through for the first time today and had to have it
  6. eh... Hail to the Thief has some superb material (stuff like "The Gloaming") but it also has some real stinkers (stuff like "I Will"). While it's (of course) more good than bad I'd still put it after OKC, Kid A, and In Rainbows
  7. I'll suggest the Bends as well. Generally the album receives superb reviews (5's on nearly all of the Wiki links and amazon) and also I usually like starting into a band with their "breakthrough" album; and this is it. Fake Plastic Trees and My Iron Lung are two good introductory downloads if you're curious
  8. What the hell? some cops go on ego trips, that happens... check the fine amount and get some input from your lawyer. Some of you are acting like total morons, honestly the "child ran over" and "truncheon shot" comments were totally ridiculous and inappropriate. It's a single goddamn "?" on a plate. No additonal stickers, likely no covering or even intruding on any of the numbers whatsoever. A slightly rude sounding "get it off your plate" would've sufficed. Honestly. I'd hate to talk about the criminal offense of J-walking with you guys ("Oh God what if it was someone with an AK running towards your unsuspecting family!? if they would've patiently used the crosswalk you could've got away lOLOLOLOL111!!!!") If the cops in your area get confused between "GOTRUSH?" and "GOTRUSH" then in any of the uncalled for homicide/genocide situations proposed here you're completely screwed anyway.
  9. QUOTE (Rushian King @ Mar 21 2008, 01:47 PM) BTW, the songs I listened to sound emo-ish to me. Whether they actually are or aren't would mean I'd have to care enough about emo (pro or con) to distinguish a difference. Emo is nothing more than that exact sound, I wasn't using Emo as a derogatory word (I actually LIKE some of it) just an umbrella term for a specific sound no more or less relevent than something like "New Wave". In my other post I was a bit hard on AFHA I actually really like that song. If you don't like those I can't think of anything else that would grab you immediatly, Coheed are pretty consistant quality wise for better or for worse here's one you could give a try I guess: The Crowing; Ignore the video
  10. Pink Floyd - Meddle Men at Work - Business as Usual The Decemberists - Picaresque
  11. VT by alot. The lyrics are WAY better than S&A's (which are still excellent) and the hugely dense layered stuff combined with the intensely personal atmosphere just works for me (not to mention that every song has some sort of amazing hook(s)). A top 5 Rush release easily for me. Would likely be no. 2 to Power Windows if not for the production.
  12. right that song sucks... here's the kind of thing i'm referring too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xbx6rGNmvB0 That one and: Coheed are better band now that successfully incorporates 80's, prog, and emo stuff into a quality package. Though I do agree that the 1st album is way better the second one by alot
  13. "From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness" is awesome... I originally had a similar perception of them that Storm Shadow does, but that album really delivers. "Ten Speed(of God's Blood and Burial)" has such a badass riff
  14. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (Vinyl) 15 cents!!
  15. HYF was my fourth Rush purchase and my sixth over all. I had 2112, MP, GUP, and a disc my teacher made with AFTK and Hemispheres on it and I wanted to grab the "worst" Rush albums so I picked this one and RtB up over a three day period and fell in love with both. HYF has amazing Bass playing and I feel that along with PoW and VT, HYF is Neil at his best lyrically.
  16. None of it. 90's and 00's Rush is underrated if anything.
  17. The Who - Quadrophenia ELP - Trilogy (didn't have BSS)
  18. GREAT review basically echos my feelings exactly. easily a top 3 Rush album to me
  19. My copy of Test for Echo finally came today otherwise Abacab - Genesis
  20. QUOTE (deadwing2112 @ Jun 16 2007, 01:11 PM) QUOTE (Rush! @ Jun 16 2007, 08:49 AM) QUOTE (Kudzu @ Jun 16 2007, 01:26 AM) QUOTE (PuppetKing2112 @ Jun 15 2007, 09:59 PM) Have to respectfully disagree with that statement. Seconded...the middle of Kid A is positively brilliant. Kid A is their best album, IMO. Whats so great about everything Radiohead has done? What's so great about Porcupine Tree? or Rush for that matter? nothing its purely subjective. But regardless Radiohead are a band that like to challenge themselves musically, change their style with every album, and are remarkably consistant. Those are all the reasons I like Rush, and to push the comparison further both have singers that most people consider an "acquired taste". Radiohead, to me anyways, are along with Tool the greatest band to come after Rush. Currently Amnesiac is my favorite of their albums (especially Pyramid Song!!) on topic: I just bought Tool's Aenima
  21. I voted for Bravest Face, but I like Armor and Sword, Faithless, and The Larger Bowl just as much. Astonishingly, the instrumentals aren't doing much for me. Cept' Malnar of course
