  1. He is one of Neil's friends. A simple internet search can add other details about him ;) he was the drummer of Jethro Tull during the 80s. I have met him. Super nice guy
  2. One might consider this good news but it still makes me sad. In the wake of the death of drummer and lyricist Neil Peart, who passed away on Jan. 7 after a three-year battle with brain cancer, Rush’s music has seen a massive surge in streams and sales. According to Billboard, streams of the band’s songs rose 776 percent in the U.S. and sales have increased well over 2,000 percent. While Peart passed away on Jan. 7, news of his death broke on Friday, Jan. 10. According to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, between Jan. 10–13 on-demand audio and video streams of Rush’s catalog increased to a combined 24.53 million, up over 776 percent -- compared to the previous three days – which garnered 2.8 million streams. The power trio’s most-streamed song (between Jan. 10-13) was the 1981 Moving Pictures hit “Tom Sawyer,” with 2.83 million streams boosting some 305 percent compared to just 698,000 streams between Jan. 6-9. Sales of Rush songs climbed over 2,300 percent to 19,000 from 1,000, while the group’s album sales leaped over 1,800 percent to more than 6,000 copies. Billboard also reports that Peart’s death will have an impact on next week’s charts and will likely see their best-of collection The Spirit of Radio: Greatest Hits 1974 – 1987 enter the Billboard 200 chart. In other related news, Peart’s death sent fans scrambling to dig deeper into his lyrics. According to Billboard’s LyricFind U.S. and LyricFind Global charts (which ranks the most searched song lyrics), Rush dominates the top 25 with 23 songs in the global chart and 18 out of 25 spots on the U.S. chart. It’s no surprise the top search was for “Tom Sawyer,” but other songs on the list include “Limelight,” “The Trees,” “The Temples of Syrinx,” “The Garden,” “Losing It,” “Closer to the Heart,” and 1984’s “Afterimage,” which has the chill-inducing opening line “Suddenly, you were gone / From all the lives you left your mark upon.” Read More: Rush Sales Up Over 2,000 Percent Following Death of Neil Peart | https://loudwire.com/rush-sales-up-over-2000-percent-death-neil-peart/?utm_source=tsmclip&utm_medium=referral
  3. Fantastic and humbling. I love this line from Michael Hoff "A quote I read just after his passing sums it up succinctly: “This man is your favorite drummer’s FAVORITE DRUMMER”. I can’t think of a better way to sum up his influence on so many…"
  4. Neil Peart statue pitched for Lakeside Park in St. Catharines Kelly Edgar says he enthusiastically added his name to an online petition calling on the City of St. Catharines to honour Rush drummer Neil Peart. The petition — launched on website change.org by St. Catharines resident Tony McLaughlin following reports of Peart's death last week — calls on the city to commemorate his ties to the community by erecting a plaque or statue of him at Lakeside Park — a place the celebrated lyricist immortalized in song. As of Monday afternoon, the petition had garnered nearly 9,000 names. "Neil spent a lot of his youth in Port Dalhousie as can be heard in the famous song he penned 'Lakeside Park,'" McLaughlin wrote in the petition, calling such an initiative "an amazing tribute." https://www.stcathar...1qLoHU.facebook
  5. The wife and I had a Rush marathon all weekend. Talked about the shows we saw together. We laughed. We cried.
  6. HI listened to Eddie Trunk's show today (Trunk Nation) and it was all about Neil. He has Taylor Hawkins, Mike Portnoy, Andy Curren and Nick (Boooje). They all told stories and paid tribute. Really cool
  7. Unless Neil cut off complete contact with Geddy and Alex, the both of them absolutely did know. This would have also meant that Neil's wife and daughter would have not been in communication with either of them as well. Drummer Mike Portnoy mentioned on social media yesterday after the news broke that he was aware of Neil's health issues. If he knew there is no way Geddy and Alex didn't. It would be like not telling your brothers and sisters. No way would he keep it from Geddy & Alex. They knew. A friend of mine is a roadie for a pretty popular classic rock band and a lot of people in that circle knew. He told me on the down low a few months ago. It was a gut punch even back then but I had hoped that Neil could somehow pull through.
  8. My wife isn't on TRF so I thought I would share her very nice tribute she posted on FB.
  9. Virtual group hug, you guys. this is a sight for sore eyes
  10. It has definitely brought a lot of the TRF family back together. Weddings and funerals... :(
  11. I wish I could find the words to express how much this band has mean't to me since I discovered them in 1976, but then I just feel selfish for even trying. Prayers to his wife and daughter, as well as Geddy and Alex Godspeed Neil
  12. especially after everything he's been through.
  13. Midiclorins, Jar Jar, and little Anakin were enjoyable? The worst of the lot imho is Episode 8 but other than a few light saber battles, the prequels aren’t watchable either "Yadda yadda" was supposed to cover Midiclorians and JarJar, as well as the campy CGI in Ep.2, recasting grown Anakin, yadda yaddda. But I did mention Anakin should have been a young adult in Ep.1, so the movie wouldn't have turned into the goddamn Rocketeer. Ep.1 should have had him already digging on Padme and setting the stage for some brownchickenbrowncow. And then maybe he could have gotten f***ed up by the end of Ep.2 and we all get to see the true Darth Vader f**k a bunch of Jedis up by Ep.3. Episode 2 is entirely unwatchable. It would be #37 on my list
  14. That's what I figured. With the initial visual wow factor gone, more attention goes to the story, and that's not good. I love both you guys, but I don't agree at a all!! It is what it is. I loved this movie even more after a second time. Not sure I need a third time until blu. Love you back brutha!
  15. started watching for a 2nd time and the weaknesses in the script become more apparent.
  16. I can't watch. I love cats.
  17. I was wondering if these "JJ Cut" rumors were true. I really hope so
  18. I feel like I'm being punked. Nope. Just never interested... You should at least try the very first one that came out in '77. That was our era :)
