  1. My friend and I were no joke up till 4 am trying to find this song. I may have to come to terms and sit in a TGI Fridays for a few hours.
  2. Its not the Libertines, I already checked that one. Thank you though.
  3. I was at TGI Fridays with some friends, and this awesome song came on, and my apps were not working to tell me who it was. It was a very "tropical" sound with horns and such and the only lyrics I sort of remember were "when the lights go down (words I couldn't hear) the stars will come up" or something like that. Someone please help me because it was a rad song.
  4. I hope Tampa gets A. I would love to see them do Manhattan Project!
  5. Clockwork Angels is probably my favorite since Power Windows. That being said, there is not an album that I dislike at all! They all have their ups and downs. For example I absolutely loved Caress of Steel and the longer songs that took me on an adventure through my long drives and the complexity of the music. Then when they branched away from that, I really started loving the synth era of Rush with the incredibly meaningful songs, not saying the 70's era didn't have meaning, but it was more accessible. When SnA came out, I was ecstatic, listening to every snip and clip available up to the albums release. When I finally had it in my hands, it did take me a few listens to get into it, but once I got into it it was immediate love for the album. The tones Alex have on that album really harken to his live performance. Then Clockwork Angels happened. There is something from each era of Rush on that one album! From the nod to Bastille Day in Headlong Flight, to the incredibly Signals-esque guitar riff in the beginning of the Anarchist. Rush on my friends!!
  6. I'll be there! At the holiday inn express! It doesn't matter if its on the lawn or front row, its gonna rock!
  7. My dad introduced me to them years ago. The Wall is pretty good, but like my dad, our favorite album is A Momentary Lapse of Reason.
  8. QUOTE (Jomboni @ Jun 25 2012, 02:52 PM) QUOTE (JoenataArctica @ Jun 25 2012, 02:36 PM) It definitely passes the Minecraft test. For some reason, listening to the album and thinking of the steampunk asthetic makes me want to build grand things in that game. Clockwork Angels passes every test, and has not left my cd player in my car since it was released! I failed the Minecraft test. I bought it yesterday and don't have the slightest idea what I'm doing! Start with a house for yourself, then move on to bigger things. A few friends and I have built an underwater glass castle and a couple great lighthouses as well as a fortress in the side of a cliff with a torch lit staircase leading up to it. It is a world lit only by fire (and glowstone ) If you need any pointers let me know!
  9. Given Alex's enthusiasm of this song, they would surely play it, and the theory of Alex playing guitar until the point of the piano part (which he wrote), would surely be played by him until the solo. That is a very plausibly idea. I CANNOT FLIPPING WAIT TO HEAR IT!!!!!

  11. The Wreckers... sooooooooooooooo gooooooooooooooodddd!!!!!! Have not finished the album yet, but I was just blown away by The Wreckers. It gave me chills.

I saw that he gave it a 10/10, but I didn't know if he liked or hated the album. Use normal people talk!!
  13. QUOTE (CrossedSignals @ May 20 2012, 01:31 AM) QUOTE (Ovningskora @ May 20 2012, 02:17 AM)QUOTE (CrossedSignals @ May 19 2012, 10:37 PM) Thanks for the reviews! Great so far.... I'm looking forward to more. I've always been a huge Nightwish fan and a hesitant Sonata Arctica one but beyond that my knowledge of power metal is nil. I'd like to expand my listening in this genre.... along with symphonic, it's easily my favorite type of metal. hmm... well, as I just said I'm not particularly fond of NW but there are some really great Symphonic Power Metal bands you should know of! Here's the two most important, and a couple of live songs to support them (though these are just gateways) Rhapsody of Fire - Triumph or Agony: Blind Guardian - Time Stands Still: Nearly all the reviews in this thread will be of rather obscure power metal musicians - most I haven't even heard of. This thread is particularly useful those who are already fans of all the big PM bands and are curious for more. Not a big population of TRF but surely those who google search? Whoops, didn't read that last post. FWIW, I don't like Nightwish since Anette came onboard, but I love all their work with Tarja. So I guess I'm a Nightwish fan-in-exile. LOL.... the singer in that first video sounds a hell of a lot like James LaBrie. Didn't care for that much. I like the second song.... this band definitely merits further investigation. Thanks for the suggestions! And yes, Dragonforce is clearly complete shit. Blind Guardian is perhaps my favorite power metal band of all time. They really started to shine, to me, once they released A Night At The Opera. That album is sheer briliance! Their latest effort, At The Edge of Time, is probably one of the greatest power metal albums made of all time. Check out Dragonland. Their latest album, Under The Grey Banner is extremely well done, and it tells a story that was started with the first Dragonland album, Battle on the Ivory Plains. They even have an album with a Science Fiction theme, Astronomy. Dragonland is definitely worth checking out. Some other notables include: Pathfinder - Beyond the Space, Beyond the Time, Dream Evil - Dragonslayer. A side note with that one, it is very tongue-in-cheek, but nonetheless a rocking album! Any album by Sabaton. They have a lot of songs that deal with wars and battles. Rock on friend!
  14. As much as I want to listen to new Sonata, I really have not enjoyed a release since Reckoning Night. I just cannot get into anyting post RN. But since you are a fan of Power Metal, you should check out the new Sabaton album, Carolus Rex. It comes out this month and it is super awesome. Actually, all of their stuff is super awesome. Dragonlands most recent album from this year, Under the Grey Banner is probably one of my favorite power metal albums of all time! cheers!

  16. Meeting them would be great! To be honest, I'd rather just enjoy the concert with my Pops. We had a blast the last time we were in Tampa for the Time Machine tour.
  17. QUOTE (Godeater2112 @ Apr 17 2012, 03:43 PM) QUOTE (OGr8imL84AD8inF8sBlackSedan @ Apr 17 2012, 04:34 PM) Orlando or FL in general? Only FL date thus far is Tampa: Tampa, FL November 3 Gettin the Holiday Inn Express gang back together?
  18. I remember when SnA came out, i waited for midnight on the release date, and when i went there and they were unpacking the boxes in Wal-Mart, and I asked them if they had it, and they looked at me like I just asked for weapons grade plutonium. Went to target the next day and it was there!!
  19. HOOOOLLLLYYYY COW!!!!! So glad I stayed up late tonight!!!! Very intrigued with the track list, and that sample!!!! X-tremely aggressive!! SO FRIGGIN PUMPED!!!!!
  20. hahaha, NICE! to be honest though, i think the mash up sounds pretty good!
  21. One of the greatest shows I have ever watched. Watched the entire series twice. When I first started watching it, it was a month before season 6 started, and I watched seasons 1-5 in a matter of 3 weeks.
  22. HYF is definitely in my top 5 favorite Rush albums, and I love all the songs on it. From the opening of Force Ten (The version from R30 is heavy and epic sounding and you can just feel the power!) to the closing notes of High Water. Scratch my beginning statement, it is my favorite Rush album. Start to Finish!
  23. it is 14 songs of his back catalog redone with a 46 piece orchestra. Red Rain is amazing. Intruder is really creepy and haunting.
