  1. I can see why you like it. It has plenty of riffage similar to the Caress Of Steel era. I love it as well, but it wasn't EXACTLY what I was hoping for. I wanted keyboards to come back in a big way and wanted to production to go back to a cleaner sound rather than that alternative, wall of guitars sound. Something more similar to the Permanent Waves/Pictures era. CA is still my #6 fav Rush album so it's all good. It might be too much to ask at this point, but I so wish Rush would do another record with the classic keyboard sounds.
  2. Read a lot of stories around the internet about the new Halloween because I'm excited for it. Seems that Marcus Dunstan(been involved in Saw franchise) is directing and he and his writing partner are writing the script. Everywhere I have seen lists John Carpenter as executive producer. Not sure exactly what an executive producer does, but I would guess overseeing a little bit of everything so it wouldn't surprise me if Carpenter has some input on what's going on in the script. Also read that they are going to completely ignore the Zombie films in relation to this storyline and that is a good thing. Miramax/Blumhouse is teaming up on this so it should have some nice backing and a good budget. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  3. I skipped the Zombie one because I was worried that it'd suck too much Zombie made two actually. 2007 and 2009.
  4. New Halloween film? Hell yeah. Let's get this series back where it belongs after Zombie dragged it through the gutter and forgot what suspense means.
  5. Nope not Phantasm. Probably a TV movie or something. Believe it or not, I don't think I've ever seen Phantasm all the way through. I remember when the trailers were out for that movie. Just remembered....the other scene that totally freaked me out as a kid was when that vampire boy floated up to the window in the fog and scratched on the window trying to get the other boy to let him in. Chilling. One of my fav scenes from Salem's Lot. We turned this thread into a horror movie thread:)
  6. Bergman's "Hour Of The Wolf" and Polanski's "Tenant" are both great films - I would almost consider them the opposite of what we were talking about before - great films that fall into a sub category of horror as opposed to horror movies that crossover to great films Peeping Tom is great too ... predates Psycho and is pretty disturbing The movie I saw at the theater as a kid that totally freaked me out was called Burnt Offerings. It had Oliver Reed, Karen Black(70's Jamie Lee Curtis), and Betty Davis in it. I never see it on lists, but it should be. I think I liked it just as well as George C. Scott in The Changeling (#35 on that last list). Always meant to see Tenant, but not sure if I have. I see so many horror movies that I sometimes forget exactly what I have seen. haha Burnt Offerings scared the crap outta me as a kid, and I watched it again a few years ago and it was still great .... The Changling is great too - and sad Presto, do you remember a made-for-TV movie from the 70s called Bad Ronald ?? Don't think I've seen it. I just looked it up on IMDB and it has a very solid rating. Must be good. I'm still trying to figure out a movie I saw on TV as a kid that totally freaked me out as well. I can't remember much of the plot other than I think a man was terrorizing a family(they had a station wagon) and somehow I think he ends up dying and he's at the bottom of a well. I think one of the family goes to the well to make sure he is still down there. It's about the only movie that I haven't been able to figure out what it is. Remember Reincarnation Of Peter Proud?

  8. Here's another list from well known producers, directors, critics, writers and actors. http://www.hitfix.com/news/horror-poll
  9. Here's a pretty good top 10. Has all the films just recently talked about. I have seen lists where the original Friday is not in the top 100. That's just not right even though I still prefer Friday part 2 to the first one. http://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/the-greatest-horror-films-ever-made
  10. It is hard not to be influenced by all the good movies that came before. Only difference is Carpenter captured lightning in a bottle with Halloween. Halloween is usually ranked in the top 5 or 10(sometimes even #1) in just about every top 100 all time list where Black Christmas is much more likely to be in the 80-90 range if it makes it at all.
  11. Anybody that hasn't seen the ultra long Crystal Lake Memories documentary needs to watch it now. I love it. It explains everything about the series including that the idea for the first movie was to rip off Carpenter's Halloween. They flat out admit it. Original Friday is great, but it's no Halloween. Halloween paved the road for it to have success.
  12. How awesome! This is one of the most unusual lists ever and I say that in a good way. When it comes to Rush, they are one of the only bands where there are no wrong answers. Don't think I've EVER seen a list with Hemispheres last and I salute you for having the balls(despite being female) to do it. Bravo!!!!!
  13. I like this list but if any of the old school lot see this they will absolutely lambaste it! I'm old school. Here's my lambasting: I don't really like S&A. Here's my list: 19. S&A 18. Bones 17. T4E 16-6. All the good stuff in between 5. A Farewell To Kings 4. 2112 3. Hemispheres 2. Permanent Waves 1. Moving Pictures I was excited after hearing the Far Cry single, but after I got the record and gave it a first spin, I was as disappointed as I've ever been on a first listen of a Rush record. I listened to it on the way to work and I was bummed all day at work as I had been looking forward to it coming out for a long time.
  14. No wonder Signals is #2 on your list. You have "Chemistry" listed right in your interests. haha
  15. 1. Permanent Waves(took over top spot from MP after 32 years as Rush fan....only because they burn MP out) 2. Moving Pictures 3. Signals 4. Grace Under Pressure 5. Power Windows 6. Clockwork Angels 7. Hemispheres 8. Vapor Trails(remix) 9. Farewell To Kings 10. Presto 11. Counterparts 12. Test For Echo 13. Hold Your Fire 14. 2112 15. Roll The Bones 16. Snakes and Arrows 17. Fly By Night 18. Caress Of Steel 19. Rush I do not count Feedback as a studio album:)
  16. I would take a new studio record with Moving Pictures or Counterparts quality production and keyboards prominently featured over another tour. I don't listen to the live albums I got.
  17. I think they travel by plane these days. The crew and Neil would travel by bus. Also, don't think you are burning too many calories riding motorcycles. Just losing water weight by roasting in traffic.
  18. I do agree that there are other reasons, but giving up the cycling on tour would make it much, much easier IMO. Neil first started dealing with tendonitis way back on the T4E tour and I think it's even possible that all the cycling may have contributed to the condition. Can't say I blame Neil for trying to make tours interesting, I'm just saying if he DID want to carry on at some point that dropping his motorcycle routine would make it so much easier to do.
  19. ..... would give up the motorcycle riding and travel by air conditioned plane like the rest of the band. Just stop and think how tired and exhausted riding a motorcycle with full riding gear in 90 degree heat would make even a young person. Even though he is not pedaling like a bicycle those long motorcycle rides are physically AND mentally exhausting.(trying to keep yourself alive on a motorcycle) Neil would usually get a half hour to hour nap at the venue and then have to play a demanding 3 hour Rush show followed by too few hours of sleep to get up and do it all over again. I know that Neil says the motorcycling makes a tour more interesting, but it had to take a major toll at his age. No wonder he says he's burnt out on touring. Imagine the difference if you were conserving ALL of your energy for the show and staying in cool environments throughout the day. Neil is Neil though and I would never expect him to come around to this point of view. haha
  20. I think you are wrong here. I just scoured the internet for CA reviews from all kinds of different music sites. I read dozens of reviews and it seems CA got universal appraise across the board. These are not necessarily Rush fans, just music critics and fans.
  21. Wait a minute. The show was about Canadian rock legends and Rush are THE Canadian rock legends and nobody knew who they were? I'm so confused...
  22. Met Geoff Tater a couple of times. The guy was extremely gracious and was even complimentary of Rush as I was wearing a Rush shirt when I was talking to him once.
  23. With all the tours he did, Mosbach is no doubt a millionaire now for riding the country sightseeing on a motorcycle and hanging out backstage at Rush shows. LOL! It's a tough life!
  24. What does this even mean? You mean the site that breaks it down? I guess you are just saying that people post inaccurate info. Still wondering what an "authentic time signature" is. haha I took Toymaker's post to be a take-off on the TrueRushFan thread and thought he meant it as a joke. Oops...sorry. I haven't even been in that thread.
