  3. Didn't he look really muscular and more trim on VT? If I remember right from the boys in Brazil documentary.
  4. I'm sure he will look better once Neil announces he is ready to go

    New rumor

22 million folks. The man is a homebody now. No way in freakin h*** can he blow through 22 million. You guys are nuts. I could make ONE million last forever. Even if there was a chance he could run out of money, it won't happen before his stamina and drumming skills diminish to where it would be a challenge to perform up to his and the band's standards. The clock is ticking fast as it is. (CA themes are staring Neil in the face at this point) Only Neil himself knows whether he is done for good, but I seriously doubt the monetary side will play any kind of role in his decision.

Excellent question. I wish I could figure out a reason why they WOULD make an album if they can't monetize it. So much effort and time - and they have so many other interests outside the band. I just don't see it unless they can somehow feel satisfied AND get paid. I could see them making an album and then playing a one-off that is filmed for DVD or broadcast live, or something unique like that to promote the album. Geddy has also talked about using Rush in the capacity of filmmaking. So maybe the new album would function as a new Rush album / soundtrack? Albums do not sell anymore. What did CA sell 220,000 copies in the US?? CA was Neil's last labor of love writing, he is not doing that (spending that much time) again. Geddy and Al will have a project here or there, but Neil's dedication is to his family now. Unless he runs out of money... How would he run out of money? Last I heard he was worth like 22 million or something. This is not a stupid man that will throw money away at the drop of a hat on stuff like gambling and drugs.
  7. I haven't liked a whole lot ON Hold Your Fire. haha!

Fundraiser? Are we talking about like at a golf course or something? I just got a funny image in my head about Neil's massive rotating drum kit being set up under a tent next to the tees or something. haha!
  9. Why would Neil object to solo projects or tours? He has no say in that anyway. I just don't ever want to see the guys play with another drummer under the Rush name. They should have just announced the last tour as a farewell tour. It would have ended a lot of questions and speculation. They didn't announce it as a farewell tour because Geddy and Alex made it clear that they are both not done. With Rush they are. At least live that is.

  11. Guitar solo is part of it, but the goosebumps really come for me as the chorus, keys, strings and guitar build towards the end.
  12. It's folks like yourself that keep NP in a perpetual state of anxiety, butting into areas you don't belong. As a quantum realist, Neil's retired. Get over it. Quit trying to live vicariously through him and chart your own destiny. What? LOL! You totally missed the mark. I don't even care if they tour again. I was just making an observation that those long rides that Neil does makes his on stage work much harder at his age. Nothing less, nothing more.
  13. As good as the Pass is, when I heard The Garden it vaulted right up to #1. Got tears in my eyes the first few times I listened to it. Still gives me goosebumps.
  14. Yep....Halo Effect.....I never cared for it much from the get go. Sounds like a SnA leftover track to me. I like just about every other track though. Including Wish Them Well.
  15. If you are looking that hard into Neil's lyrics and reading and deciphering lyrics into special messages related to the fans themselves, you are exactly the type of fan Neil writes about and fears the most.
  16. Yep....no reason why Neil can't do a studio record. You can rest all you want between takes. haha Also, I never want to see another drummer on stage other than Neil under the Rush name.

    Rush Vanity...

Remember that old commercial for Pert Shampoo? The jingle was "wash and go with Pert". I used to sing "watch him go...Neil Pert".
  18. Rush and REM? Never in a million year would I have thought.......
  19. C'mon man. I think Rush are way better personally, but if you are talking all out technical, precise playing, Dream Theater has got them topped.
  20. How has the obvious Dream Theater not been mentioned? Also, Bands that sound like Rush already make them similar in some ways.
  21. The band Zebra sounds similar to Rush in songs here and there and not just because of the similar vocals. The song No Tellin Lies and Bears sounds very much like 80's Rush. Also, Queensryche might not sound too much like Rush sonically, but they have used some of Rush's engineers and producers and have done concept records inspired by Rush IMO. Also, Scott Rockenfield on drums is the rock drummer that mostly reminds me of Peart's style. Zebra's- No Tellin Lies
  22. My Bloody Valentine used to be on all the time in the early days of cable TV. I now own it on blu-ray. Own The Thing on blu ray as well. The Kurt Russell/Carpenter commentary track is great. haha
  23. I agree. Is there anybody on this board that thinks Ged and Alex would replace Neil's spot with another drummer under the RUSH name? I say not in a million years.
