  1. Looks great to me! :ebert: And every song is live worthy to me! :)
  2. Just had to remind everyone that today is the 24th of May! :Alex: :Neil: :geddy: :ebert:   :yay:
  3. There is a video of them doing this live on one of the live dvds cause they dedicated it to john entwhistle. On my update I eliminated it. Thanks! :) Would loved to have seen them dedicate it to John Entwistle. The first time I saw them do it was on the Counterparts tour in 1994: 8 years before we lost The Ox John Entwistle. They never played it until the Vapor Trails tour. Okay. I had thought for sure they had done it on the Counterparts tour when I saw them, but I take your word for it. :) I saw them on the Vapor Trails tour, so at least I got to see them play it. :)
  4. eush played more new songs on every tour that just about anybody i,d bet. when i saw them in 1981,they played subdivisons way before signals came out just like they did caravan. 1981? I know for sure I saw them on the Spring Training Tour in April 1982 and they played Subdivision and Analog Kid. I remember Geddy singing the line "Subdivisions" much differently than the way it was eventually recorded. Also, when I saw them on the Permanent Waves Tour in September 1980, they played Tom Sawyer and Limelight. There is at least one bootleg of this tour with these on it. Very much like the recorded versions, but very different guitar solos. Lyrics were the same I think. Drum fills were the same too I think. They would go into the studio a month later and record them, so they were pretty finalized. It was so neat to hear this unreleased songs before they would get recorded. Rush were giving us a sneak-peek on new material and at the same time finalizing them for themselves before recording them.

  6. Well, thanks to the help and corrections of many of you, I have revised it! :) Opening sequences: Like we've seen before, but something different, yet extremely funny, that only they could think of. A Three Stooges theme song that was possibly never used before and snippets of never played live before songs (kind of like Closer To The Heart and The Spirit Of Radio have been used in the past)? Chain Lightning Face Up I Think I'm Going Bald Dog Years Hand Over Fist Freeze (Part IV of "Fear") Different Strings Nocturne Anagram (For Mongo) The Big Wheel Lessons Bravest Face Madrigal The Speed Of Love INTERMISSION Emotion Detector Neurotica Open Secrets Red Tide Heresy Good News First Sweet Miracle Second Nature Rivendell Tai Shan Roll Away The Stone Alien Shore (with drum solo!) High Water Out Of The Cradle Everyday Glory You Bet Your Life Available Light ENCORE The Color Of Right We Hold On Closing sequence: Again, something funny yet finishing with serious pictures of the band over the years with instrumental music in the background; possibly written for this sequence only and never heard before by anyone. All created by the band
  7. Yeah, now that I think of it, I think it was played on the Counterparts tour too! Duh! Thanks! Yeah, Alien Shore definitely. I was very surprised that was not played live.
  8. When I saw them on the Test For Echo Tour I was pretty sure Virtuality was not done live. I would be very curious to know. But I am sure you have a bootleg of them playing it. I know they were alternating Time And Motion and Resist at the time. When I saw them, they did Resist. I would have preferred them play both. :) When I saw them on the Permanent Waves Tour, the only songs not played from Permanent Waves were Entre Nous and Different Strings. Not doubting any of what you are saying. :) I love learning more about the band here. Thank you! :ebert:
  9. When was Lessons done live? Interesting. I am sure this thread had probably had been done already, but did not know where it was. Or how recent it had been done; i.e. post-Clockwork Angels. :)
  10. Many of us have songs we love by Rush that have never been played live before (as far as we know!). For me, there are tons of them that I have never seen them do live that I think would have been great played live and that I think others would have loved seeing live too. This would be a special and unique concert, hence the length of it. Just for fun, here's my setlist of never played live before songs: Opening sequences: Like we've seen before, but something different, yet extremely funny, that only they could think of. A Three Stooges theme song that was possibly never used before and snippets of never played live before songs (kind of like Closer To The Heart and The Spirit Of Radio have been used in the past)? Chain Lightning Face Up Between Sun & Moon I Think I'm Going Bald Dog Years Hand Over Fist Different Strings Nocturne Anagram (For Mongo) The Big Wheel Lessons Bravest Face The Twilight Zone The Speed Of Love INTERMISSION Virtuality Neurotica Emotion Detector Open Secrets Red Tide Heresy Good News First Second Nature Rivendell Tai Shan Roll Away The Stone Alien Shore (with drum solo!) High Water Everyday Glory You Bet Your Life Available Light ENCORE The Color Of Right We Hold On Closing sequence: Again, something funny yet finishing with serious pictures of the band over the years with instrumental music in the background; possibly written for this sequence only and never heard before by anyone. 11. Clockwork Angels. They are all fabulous though.
  12. I have loved Rush constantly since hearing them in October of 1977 when my late, great Mom got one of my older brothers A Farewell To Kings. At first, I could not stand it, but it grew on me and within weeks I loved it! Without making this too long, I have all their albums (not including the compilations) and have seen them 21 times. I saw them EVERY chance that I had (even when they played the same venue 2 nights in a row). They have all been tremendous influences on me as a musician and as a person. I will love them forever. However! It is time for Rush to stop. Not just touring, but everything! No more albums, no more videos, no more tours, no more books...nothing. They KNOW it is time to stop while they are ahead. As Rush! Neil especially does not want himself, nor the band, to stop because they have to or they just cannot do it anymore at their own extremely high self-expectation levels. Just read the lyrics to Losing It and it's all there. Read Neil's Modern Drummer interview from April 1983 and you will understand why the band must stop and has stopped. It all makes sense and is all right there. Just see R40 and it is all there. The band is being extremely honest with the world. Would any of us really want Rush to carry on trying to be what they once were and once could be? Would any of us really want anyone else in the world "taking the place" of Alex, Geddy or Neil?! I know that I certainly never would. There are tons of bands who I still love who have had a few or several personal changes and have been around for years and/or broke up and reunited with different members (or in some cases one original member) and it is still great, but they are not Rush! It is my feeling that we will be hearing and seeing Alex and Geddy in different bands and/or projects; most probably separately, or perhaps guesting on one another's solo albums occasionally. I do not have either of the Victor albums, but I do have My Favorite Headache and I absolutely love it. It gives us a preview of what Geddy is more than capable of outside of Rush. As for Neil, I think he is done with drumming and music, outside of it being an occasional hobby, as it should be for him. I cannot think of any other musician who is self-honest enough to know when it is time to stop doing music professionally because he wants to and wants to do other things in his life. Neil has given the world more than enough. Rush has made a perfect finish and we as their loving and loyal fans should respect that.
  13. Notice how in the written lyrics the second time this is sung in each chorus, it is spelled indifferent circles. So Neil is giving that line more than one meaning. Brilliant! Maybe. Until you consider "indifferent circles we keep holding our ground..." makes no sense whatsoever.. Are you sure? I took it to mean people being so indifferent about the world that they don't go anywhere. They stay where they are without any interest or curiosity about the world around them Pretty sure. In any case, what you are saying is also another meaning of what Neil is saying too. As often, Neil's lyrics can be interpreted many ways or mean different things. One of the greatest things about Neil's lyrics is that they get the listener and reader thinking (presuming they are listening and/or reading!) and can mean different things to different people. And most of his lyrics are indeed very thought provoking. And educational. I cannot think of any lyricist who has taught me so much about so many things more than Neil. True. But sometimes the whole, "Looking down my nose at the common man" vibe rubs me the wrong way. That could be a result of reading his published work more so than his Rush lyrics. Yeah, people have had that opinion before. However, as you know I am sure Power Windows came out way before any of his books did. What in his published work has given you that vibe? Not arguing at all with you. Just curious. Thanks!
  14. Neil has gone on record many times saying that he hasn't particularly liked touring since the mid 80's, or sometime around there, I have no problem with Neil retiring if he wants. God knows, he's earned that decision. I do have a problem with how he retired and how he told his band mates. Oh wait, he didn't tell them. He bailed and they later read about it in an interview. I don't care how many social issues you have, that's pretty weak and disrespectful A cowardly way to go, while he was deliberately beating himself up on the road and saying afterward poor me! I guess it's most telling that Alex and Geddy did their interviews for Time Stand Still in the same venue and sometimes together, while Neil was sitting in front of his sports cars. I am sorry, but I do not know what interview Neil stated this in. I can't imagine that Alex and Geddy learned about his decision in an interview he gave and that he did not tell them face-to-face before hand at an official and private (Alex, Geddy and Neil only) band meeting. Neil was doing less and less interviews with Alex and Geddy for the last several years. We all know that Neil has always refused to do Meet & Greets; whereas Alex and Geddy always have done them. Alex and Geddy were fine with that and those of us who know how Neil is about meeting fans (which he has stated many times in his interviews and books) should be fine with that too.
  15. I always kind of thought that too but it would be like buying your old high school and renovating it. I'm sure they have plenty of good memories but it's probably a part of their life they are happy to leave behind. Sounds right. Rush have never been a band to live in or dwell upon the past. I do think it would have been a great thing for them to do and also something to leave behind, besides their music; as well as making this great studio updated and available for all bands (old and new) again.
  16. Rush could have been HUGE in Japan. I believe that was the only tour they ever did of Japan. Rush also never played in any other country in Asia, nor in Africa, nor Russia, nor Australia as far as I know. I never understood why. So many other bands toured these places and were received greatly.
  17. Sounds great, though I am not into Rush tribute bands. Is there a Rush convention anywhere at anytime? There must be several. Thanks!
