  1. They sang Tom Sawyer! It was pretty funny.
  2. Wow. This is kind of exciting!
  3. QUOTE (Necromancer @ Jan 12 2007, 06:13 PM) It wasn't all horrible. I got a few laughs out of it. I'd never watch it again though, like i've done repeatedly with Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison. What can you expect? Jack Nicholson was in it. He sucks anymore. I strain to think of when he was ANY good honestly. Seriously? When he was ANY good? Five Easy Pieces ? The Last Detail ? Chinatown ? One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest ? Sure, since The Shining he's fell into a bit of a parody of himself, but he's been brilliant in so many movies. He was really good in About Schmidt.

I've been watching it pretty regularly, and I think it's a GREAT show. Hopefully I won't agree and the upcoming shows won't start to go down in quality, but then again, I've never found that to be the case with any Star Trek series. If anything, they got better as they went on... I have no idea what season you are up to, but Voyager took way too many liberties with certain aspects of the Star Trek universe (yes, when it comes to Star Trek I am a geek). Voyager is the one series that did not get better as it went along, IMO. I have plenty of things I can gripe about but I don't want to spoil anything for you if you enjoy the show. With that said, there were some very good episodes, but for me they were few and far between, especially in the later seasons. Also, funny enough, I thought the Doctor was the best character on the show. I also liked Chakotay. Also, Tuvok got better as the show went along.
  5. It was an Adam Sandler movie with Jack Nicholson in it, not a Jack Nicholson movie with Adam Sandler in it, that's the problem. For me, anyway, Sandler's shtick has run out. It was mildly amusing. Good concept, bad execution.
  6. It's a losing battle, but I vote for "Lock and Key." It's a good song, I just like the other songs better.

I've never seen it. I checked up on it and the "Shaun of the Dead" guy is in it! I love that movie! It's on BBC America. Season 2 starts on January 12th. I'll check it out.
  9. QUOTE (Signals1982 @ Jan 4 2007, 06:44 PM) Shawshank Redemption is not a masterpiece??? Well even though it was a short story it's definitely the best adaptation of his work. I agree. It's a very good movie. I just don't think it's a masterpiece.
  10. QUOTE (Margana @ Jan 4 2007, 05:26 PM) Where is the guy in the bear suit in the Shining? Towards the end when Wendy is running around the hotel seeing all the apparitions. It could be a guy in a dog suit, I can't remember. It's quick. A frame of the shot can be found here: http://www.disinfotainmenttoday.com/darenet/kubrick.htm
  11. Misery is a very good movie, one of Rob Reiner's best before he jumped the shark, big time. The Shining didn't scare me as much as freak me out. The scene with the guy in the bear suit just creeps me out to this day. I can't stand the mini-series version. Though I don't think it's a masterpiece, The Shawshank Redemption is a very enjoyable movie. Very uplifting. Thinner is the worst.

  14. I also watched it. It was pretty funny. The Mick Jagger stuff was hilarious, especially the ending. Time will tell - the potential is there.
  15. I love Star Trek. I watched the entire run of Voyager. It started out strong and well, that's all I'll say.
  16. I think you make a valid point. Hold Your Fire has a total running time of 50:21. Prior to Hold Your Fire only two albums (excluding live albums) approached that length - Power Windows at 44:30 and Caress of Steel at 44:51 - both of which had over 5 minutes LESS music. From 2112 through Moving Pictures only one album ran over 40 minutes - Moving Pictures at 40:04. It's hard to sustain a particular level of quality over the length of a CD. For many, Hold Your Fire was the last of the great Rush albums and the length of CDs may have played into that. There's too much filler nowadays!
  17. I voted for "Second Nature" in the last round. I made a mistake. I like it better than "Lock and Key". But no harm done. I'll just vote for "Lock and Key" in this round.
  18. QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Dec 30 2006, 06:12 PM) QUOTE (thesweetscience @ Dec 31 2006, 04:52 AM) QUOTE (treeduck @ Dec 30 2006, 03:04 PM) Dr Strangelove Good call. Great movie! saw this 2days ago for the 1st time. peter sellers is a damn genius Peter Sellers was also set to play Major T.J. King Kong but broke his ankle or leg, so Kubrick cast Slim Pickens instead. I read that Kubrick wanted Sellers to connect all the locations in the film - The War Room, The Army Base and The B-52. George C. Scott was also brilliant. There are many memorable lines: "Mr. President, I'm not saying we wouldn't get our hair mussed. But I do say no more than ten to twenty million killed, tops. Uh, depending on the breaks." "You're gonna have to answer to the Coca-Cola company." "Shoot, a fella' could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff." Gosh, there are so many.
