I gotta agree with goobs here a bit.

I'm itching for new rush because frankly, I'm tired of the "live cd/DVD after every tour" model. I loved S&A but Caravan and bu2b have yet to really grow on me. In any event, new rush is better than nothing so I will be happy in any event.

Wow you're back again are you?? And no announcement or anything...just a sudden "oh I'm a bit meh about the whole new RUSH album dynamic, and Lord and Baby Jesus I'm too busy painting my toenails sparkly pink to even think about Geddy's nude nutsack these days never mind post on TRF and talk dirty to METALDAD in PMs every night, pfft he's such a sex pest..." blah.gif

I'm totally on board with the idea that there is intelligent life out there, I just don't believe any of it has showed up here yet.

Well like I keep saying soon your wish will be granted and no one will talk about this anymore. Be patient, good things come to he who waits.

Overplayed? Certainly, but for a reason. It is one of the few perfect albums made. Start to finish, every song is great, and the range of music is tremendous.

You can't blame the album for radio stations or fans decisions to overplay it. The album is what it is, and hasn't changed since 1971.

It's a no brainer. If you are talking about the debut then it's Zep.

I didn't specifically mean the debut album. If they'd got a record deal in 1970 or 71 or 72 they would just have likely recorded an entirely different non-Zep album, same as they did in 75 and 76. I'm talking about a general band influence overall, and not just Neil being influenced by Bonham or Moon or Alex influenced by Beck or Blackmore either...

The more people you add to a situation, the less likely it is that they can keep a secret. There have been hundreds of thousands of people involved in the US government since the alien theorists really started taking off in the 50's. Millions of people involved in other world governments.

There's no way - no way - that aliens exist on earth if the argument is "the government is keeping them a secret". The government has barely functioned in a hundred years, the idea that they could cover up aliens is silly.

The article agrees with you. And hopefully this will quash all this UFO/alien talk for good and we can all move on to something more constructive, no?

I sincerely wish I could be more excited about this release. After T4E and VT, my enthusiasm for S&A was VERY low. Then I heard that teaser power chord that sounded like Hemispheres and got excited. Then I heard Far Cry and I was REALLY excited. Easily their best song in many, many years.

In this case we have the (for me) very unfortunate release of two songs from an album a full two years or so before release, and judging by those two songs, there's nothing I'm excited about. The only thing I really liked was the music part of Caravan, not the lyrics. It truly sucks to know an album is far from perfect years before its release.

I'm curious about it, and hopeful for maybe one or two good songs. Who knows, a miracle could occur and maybe there will be two or three great songs. S&A had some stellar material (and some not so stellar), so anything's possible. I wish I was more excited as this will doubtlessly be their last album, but alas...

Blah blah blah, very nice, and we'll all make our own minds up thank you very much Goobs O'Brien of the Inner Party...

As Geddy confirmed in the recent Rolling Stone interview, they haven't even completed most of the recording and said that they'll "start recording in earnest shortly", so it's highly unlikely that we'll see Clockwork Angels by Spring 2012, even if recording is finished by Xmas.

Probably looking at starting mixing in Spring and then mid-2012 before it hits the shops.

    News article here:- http://www.8263.co.uk/sites/musicpro/news/..._geddy_lee.html

With S&A in 2006 they were in the same position as now, half the album written and demo recorded. Recording proper started in October and they were done by Christmas. Mixing was done in January, marketing and manufacturing occurred between February and April. I don't see how it'll take any longer this time...

'No Aliens On Earth' Says Senior Obama Official

A senior White House official has insisted there is "no credible evidence of extraterrestrial presence here on Earth".

I guess that official has never read the supermarket tabloids.

Don't worry those tabloids are gonna stop printing stories after this announcement. It's a new dawn baby!

  9. 'No Aliens On Earth' Says Senior Obama Official

A senior White House official has insisted there is "no credible evidence of extraterrestrial presence here on Earth".

And in a blow to millions of conspiracy theorists, the member of Barack Obama's administration, also said there was no credible information to suggest evidence of alien life is being kept from the public.

The unusual comments were contained in a response by senior space policy and communications official Phil Larson to several petitions lodged on a White House website.

"The US government has no evidence that any life exists outside our planet, or that an extraterrestrial presence has contacted or engaged any member of the human race," Mr Larson wrote.

"In addition, there is no credible information to suggest that any evidence is being hidden from the public's eye.

"Many scientists and mathematicians have ... come to the conclusion that the odds are pretty high that somewhere among the trillions and trillions of stars in the universe there is a planet other than ours that is home to life.

"Many have also noted, however, that the odds of us making contact with any of them - especially any intelligent ones - are extremely small, given the distances involved.

"But that's all statistics and speculation. The fact is we have no credible evidence of extraterrestrial presence here on Earth."

The statement was issued in response to two petitions, which a total of 17,000 signatures, calling on the Government to disclose knowledge of extraterrestrial beings and contact with them.

The White House has started a new initiative called "We the People" by allowing people to submit petitions to their government, and pledged to respond to some that get a significant following.

  10. What gets me these days in the age of the internet, when you look people up who've only just passed away on wiki, is the description of the person, all of a sudden they're gone ie Joe Frazier was a former heavyweight champion boxer. Was?? Like you're reading about some figure from history who's been dead for 300 years. That makes it hit home and offers the shockingly stark fact of their death.

I remember when Dio died and I looked him up on wiki just to enjoy his achievements, seeing that, Ronnie James Dio was a heavy metal vocalist really bothered me...
