  1. I remember the day picking it up at the local record shop...man,I should've bought two copies and saved one for the 40th anniversary Man,reliving the opening of a new copy all over again...I wore out the cassette copy of ATWAS and the St.Louis live radio broadcast tape.
  2. Yet a reply on a Rush fan site.................just sayin
  3. Apparently he's fully dedicated to finishing his album - I heard that through unofficial sources though. The event was today - my first live show in almost two years!!!! It was fun, and Rik Emmett from Triumph played there: Great shot you got with Rik......good to see him still writing putting out music......from what I seen from interviews he seems like a really down to earth, stand up guy........I think I still have his Star Licks Masters Sessions guitar tutorial VHS......great teacher
  4. The '83 Radio City Music Hall 5 nighter pre-warm up for GUP album, a few were debut,Kid Gloves,Red Sector A and I think Body Electric were performed..I had tickets for opening and closing nights.
  5. Was thinking about maybe getting the Epiphone Axcess..........was checking some reviews and overall,it got positive reviews ...the Gibson is out of my league ;)

    Hating Rush

I hear you but it was really quite simple why they stepped it up the last 20 years...the whole music "machine" was turned on it's head because of the internet there was no money to be made with album sales anymore.Remember the old days they'd put out two records in one year the tour was just a means to get the new album exposed. The Time Machine Tour did seem like a record suits ingenious masterplan to get out on the road again but lets be honest, the guys were just making sure their retirement funds were nice and healthy

    Hating Rush

From what I always remember the only real negative that was constantly harped upon was Geddy's vocals....at least in my circle ..'75 '76,..certainly wasn't the music. My High School days Rush was getting praise. Rush were jumping on the prog train but it was already waning ...with Neil's sci-fi epics, that with Geddy's vocals it was only natural for the critics to latch on to that. I think your reading too much into it........it's as simple as Rush wasn't a radio friendly band which in many respects it's what kept the fan base growing.
  8. Gee.....that was very insightful .......op asked a legitimate ? ..........."Um.....waitress?.........do you have any condiments"?............"yeah................there over there"
  9. Some really off the wall claims /comparisons here but what else would one expect on a fan forum.Rush definitely fall under "The whole is greater than the part" but then again a lot of the groups mentioned here fall under that. The query put forth .."is so and so the most talented band?"..these type of questions are just headlines, that eventually end up into heated debates,no real consensus. Looking at them Individually... that's where "most talented" comes into better focus
  10. "Under celebrated of all time"......Not sure I would go that far..He did make the cover of Guitar Player 1980....and a few future covers over the years.........I know maybe as a general across the board poll he won't break the top 5......but he has always gotten praise from fellow musicians......as a wannabe guitar slinger I knew back in '76 ;) As far as his acceptance speech.....it was humorous ...for about 10 seconds ......then??
  11. Do they really need to do this?.........I know it can't be a simple money grab ;) ......I always gotta laugh when these products come out and use recognizable celebs.......the ten hundred other brands are all indistinguishable from each other......people fall for it every time. Geddy and Al could be doing "other things" for all of this ;)
  12. Call me stoopid but that article is from 7 years ago..from my rough calculations
  13. What does Tyler want it for? He can't play a lick! Maybe Steven Tyler was going to gift it to Joe Perry. Joe Perry owns a 1959 Gibson Les Paul, which he sold but was later returned. Joe Perry, Eric Johnson ("Cliffs of Dover" fame), and Slash are part of this journey of the guitar. Check out the story about it below. You'll notice how Cheap Trick is mentioned again indirectly. How Slash Reunited Joe Perry with a Prized '59 Les Paul Just seems funny looking back that Perry had to sell his Les Paul....it was the early 80's well into their career they must've of saved a few bucks ;) Regarding Rick Nielsen.....must be nice to throw around 200k...damn!.....I mean the guy has more vintage guitars than any one person could play in a lifetime....he was like a kid in a candy store when he won it
  14. What a treasure this is...young Alex.....a time capsule ..we get to see him before his fame. His parents were cool ...they had all the best of intentions for him....a one in a million shot and Alex stayed the course, you got to hand it to him.
