  1. Please someone  re-mix  Presto less trebly, less mid range!! The  treble and the high mid ranges lack of bass ranges  almost killed this album .

Blame this on Bob Ludwig overseeing the mastering .No excuse when you are working with  a world class state of the art  SSL console and a perfectly natural acoustic room at  Le Studio at the time.

  2. Nice Poll-quite difficult to choose, love MFH Ged, TFE for the new Freddy approach  huge respect for VT getting back in the studio after tragedy, and Rio  3 massive out of this world  shows, and R30 summed  everything up (resist, and new  polished drum solo etc )

I feel that overall Neils projects both written and recorded dont get enough love during this time frame vs what he went through to get back on the horse . Most humans could not endure what he went through and continue on in legendary style the way he could . So my 1st vote is for neils projects without a doubt

  3. that was hard -  2 totally different vibes

BM has so much more going on instrumentally and is a side 1 1st song album starter with a video . They started concerts with this one too and is the more powerful song

NWM has been around longer and has a great reggae groove - short- to the point I always enjoy hearing it every time it comes on -since 82 - for that-i voted for it

  4. Back in 82' everyone thought this album  would be a 3rd continuation of work similar to PeW and MP, and ESL in the mix .

Nobody expected nor was prepared  the change in direction that came out with Signals . IMO It was the biggest shift in gears they ever went through, and the defining moment of what yet to come . Along came  the haters , mixed fan base  reviews, and the other 40%-50% who knows that embraced it . All you had to do was listen to the 1st track  of Signals  which is certainly  in the top 3,5,or 10  of their entire library of songs  and that tells the story

After the dust settled about a year or so later everyone started to appreciate  the potential was endless for  what these guys create  and Signals was, and still is,  a great album. Another change in direction with GUP followed soon after in 84

I remember  back then in High school being a huge Rush Nutter - still am.) finding myself  defending the shit out of Signals and myself for being the die hard fan on a continuous basis  when all all your hard rockin buddies would say how good Rush used to be but this album is not like the others or  Rush's best albums are the older ones-they're done- What happened to your favorite band . ( Im sure some people here did the same.lol). For some reason it became personal  because I really  liked the album and the technical aspects of the music  especially starting out as a drummer back then .

The article above is way to harsh. I think most people were to harsh on this Signals topic back then. It was a lack of understanding of the material for the masses  maybe?

Signals is  and will always be top 3 for me,  and has amazing tracks-proven to be a bold move by the band to expand talents and ideas . A perfectly timed  follow up to their flagship album MP   .

In Signals, The Red Tamas rule- and another example of the stars aligning once again  in Morin Heights.

  5. The refs can look at the leafs ,tampa can look at the leafs , we can look at the leafs and the leafs can look at the leafs .... Unfortunately, they will again lose another 1st round playoff round and be out  . and so on, and so on..                  Not that I want this to happen but oh god- It will..

  6. Under the Volcano Documentary.

Man ,Monserrat rocked.. Arguably some of the best material ever came out of there. God bless the SSLs.

Monserrat & LeStudio will never be replicated again technology, quality, tranquility, ambience, relaxation, a perfect mix for many of the best hits, albums ever to be recorded

  7. Absolutely #1  favorite . never to be surpassed.

(I bet 300 years from now if you had to rank the best bands that ever played rock-prog music and the best musicians in their respective instruments and to play as a band, and their career  just 3 guys ..., without a doubt for sure  Rush would still be in the top 5 or 10 . )
