  1. Yep, me too. Echos of old applause did me in. In Houston I was teary from Jacob's Ladder through Hemispheres into Cygnus and Xanadu even.
  2. You are beautiful Earl! I love you too! Geddy thanked the crew and the United States. This whole tour was unprecedented. If this was indeed the last ever Rush concert we were there.
  3. Neil ran to the front of the stage. After taking pictures of the crowd from behind the kit. Never heard Geddy thank the crew either.
  4. I have never seen Neil Peart run to the front of the stage like that. Ever. Never ever. Taking pictures from behind the kit? WTF? He looked like a kid on the last day of school. And then he ran off by himself... It was a good show. So glad I was there. Sorry I didn't see you.
  5. Jacob's Ladder because it's being played live. Hemispheres because they are playing anything of it at all. Anthem because the R30 Overture doesn't count. Lakeside Park because it's from Caress of Steel. What You're Doing because I've only heard recordings. Natural Science because at my home town show they played that into Jacob's Ladder into Hemispheres. Click on my profile and you will see these are my 3 favorite songs.
  6. Do you want to hear the 4 guys who recorded it or 3/4 and somebody else?
  7. I'm driving down tomorrow for the last one. It will be emotional for everyone there who's aware. It will be #60 for me, a nice round number. :)
  8. Live Nation owns and controls something like 2/3 of the amphitheaters in the U.S. and control other venues' booking. When they merged with Ticketmaster they have essentially the controlling stake in booking and tickets sales. Tours are big business especially when long lived bands are involved. Once corporations started backing tours bands started to get guaranteed flat rates instead of splitting tickets sales with the venue and regional promoters. Bands get guaranteed money and corporations set ticket prices with calculated risks of returns. Big business.
  9. Losing It is also in indication of their pending retirement. To me anyway.
  10. Ray Danniels sold Rush's publishing rights for their back catalog to a third party (Ole) for $25 million. The explanation was that they do not see a time when their catalog will be more valuable. Essentially they no longer own the rights to their own music. But they got a tidy sum in return. http://www.celebrityaccess.com/members/profile.html?id=686
  11. I will be attending the final ever Rush show on Saturday. Neil will hop on his cycle and go home and that will be it. Nothing special other than a great Rush show. They may perform together, they may even record but there will not be any tours, hence this will be their last show. Everything in the show from the setlists to the staging and videos point towards their retiring. Alex and Neil are in pain. In one's 60s things only worsen. They are approaching a time when they will not be able to perform at the level they are accustomed. That in itself is reason enough to go out now. Having seen Les Paul play with gnarled, arthritic fingers allowing him to be a mere shadow of what he once was I do not believe Rush could continue under such circumstances. All of the recent endorsements and selling of their back catalog rights are financial indications of preparing for retirement. Even a 40th anniversary tour in their 41st year (officially 41 years yesterday, Geddy's birthday).
  12. Indeed it was C tonight in San Jose. I was expecting A (again). I am going to the final show at the Forum and have no idea what to expect. Would love get B for Camera Eye but tonight I got to hear Science go Into Jacob's Ladder into Hemispheres. Those are my top 3 followed closely by Camera Eye. Anyone wants to kill me go ahead. I can die happy. :)
  13. For me, the spellcheck on Firefox is not a problem with this board or any board I visit. It works great. I don't hear a lot of Firefox problems in general, though I do hear about less problems with Chrome. But with Chrome you pay a price -- Google invented Chrome so they can have yet another tool to spy on you with. So f**k them. :) Exactly why I don't use Chrome. It has a lot of great features and things only it does, but it's not worth the data gathering under the hood. You don't think IE and Firefox do that as well? Google primarily makes money from data gathering and distribution so no. IE is traditionally unsecure and I no longer use Windows in general.
  14. I have had issues with spellcheck on my iPad so I think it's the forum software and not a given browser. Technically that's Safari but I only use FF on computers unless something requires Chrome (certain meetings) or Safari (one audio engineer test). As far as I know Firefox is the most secure.

  16. Hey now! I seen you being combative and moronic in SOCN from time to time. ;) How do you think I know? :P Some in there are so eagerly irritated and wantonly crave being outraged. I bring gas and a match, light it and walk away, especially when I get posts reported because some people think that a simple disagreement constitutes a personal attack or see the continuous stream of truly ridiculous thread titles. Honestly I was against the creation of the political section because of earlier history out of which the origins of TRF first began (a tale of woe too many times gone over, though over a decade ago now). I used to get in drawn out discussions concerning the casual nature of some evangelizing coming across not only as self righteous indignation but also as "what a good boy am I" syndrome. Beside that it had little to nothing to do with Rush and only created ill will among members. When the political forum was put into affect I suggested it be a free for all, no holds barred sh!t fest and (as I often say) "let them eat themselves..." So I just like to stir and let simmer, especially when some imagined slight is reported for moderation.
  17. This board is about Rush, how evil Boston teams are, and the dummies in SOCN. None of it is challenging. I remember when it was simply about Rush... You can blow me with the nesting thing. It usually takes place in combative moronic discourse of no consequence. How about people refrain from getting irritated by what others write on the Internet in the first place? See the above comment concerning SOCN. :) I have done my fair share of quote weeding as a matter of practice. And yes, refreshing the window after making the wrong move is handy. Splitting quotes out into individuals is the true PITA.
  18. That includes Farewell to Kings, Xanadu and Cygnus X-1. They used an ARP on 2112.
  19. I saw the A list tonight. I am stunned.
  20. The TFE kit was based upon his first kit which was a 4 piece red sparkle job. The Work In Progress video covers this. The set up stems from that with the single tom on the bass drum, which allowed him to move the ride cymbal.
  21. The bass used on JL appears to be Candy Apple Red Fender Precision Bass with tort pickgard... Cool! There was also another red bass, with black pickgard / headstock... I have no idea what that one is either... a Firebird??? Just saw a high res pic of this one - its a Hofner... I sent a picture of that one to a buddy of mine who has a Hofner and he said the controls looked like his Hofner. Interesting
  22. They've been around for years and are made only certain years. Last round was over 10 years ago but they go back to the 70's.
  23. Actually the first 335s came with stop bars or Bigsby trems. Trapeze tailpieces were added in the late 60's (68? After they acquired Epiphone and inherited a bunch of parts like mini humbuckers and trapeze tailpieces that Epi was known for and put them on Gibsons). My dad played with two guys in the early 60's (between 61 and 65) that both had 335s, one red, one burst and they both had stop bars. :) More Es 335/345/355 facts: http://www2.gibson.c...-0311-2011.aspx http://www.es-335.ne...ifications.html
  24. Just saw a pic of Al with a 12 string PRS!?!?!?!
