  1. QUOTE (kazzman @ Nov 1 2004, 04:05 PM) I guess I'll give it a shot first. "I have some truths to say to the fellow men in the audience. It's you're fault there's so much crime in this country and it's you're fauld there's so much violence in our country! You are ruining our society and you should be ashamed!" Is it MONTEL? Give props tho the Montel!
  2. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Oct 17 2004, 10:15 PM) Next: Cop A: "I've been trying to get you all night. Why don't you answer your f***ing beeper?" Cop B: "I just want to tell you, that the next time I'm suspended, so is my F***ING BEEPER!" Maniac Cop? Hey ... when all else fails, you gotta go with Bruce Campbell !
  3. QUOTE (Slaine mac Roth @ Oct 26 2004, 06:48 AM) PLOT: A rejected scion of an aristocratic family decides to ascend to the title by murdering all potential sucessors Richard the Third?
  4. Try "Intermission" with Colin Farrell, Cillian Murphy, and Colm Meaney. Great indie-flick but, if you have problems with heavy Irish accents, turn on the subtitles! I had to rewind a couple of times to catch the dialogue (especially Cillian Murphy). But well worth it --
  5. As Jack will tell you - I have an additction when it comes to buying CDs. Here are the last couple of ones I have bought -- Scissor Sisters (self titled) -- the best album Elton John never made. Think Elton, mixed with the Bee Gees, throw in a little Frankie Goes to Hollywood. The Sister's version of "Comfortably Numb" is sacrilege, but really is a a scream! The Killers (Hot Fuss) - Not the greatest I have heard but good for driving around with the top down. Muse (Absolution) - pretty much a Radiohead-like group but "Time is Running Out" is a wicked cool song. The Libertines (Up The Bracket) -- ROCKS! Go buy it today. Bright Eyes (Lifted) -- not for everyone but if angst is your thing ... (it is mine). "Lover I Don't Have To Love" is amazing Franz Ferdinand (self titled) - art-punk, jangly guitars, great driving music Keane (Hopes and Fears) - In my opinion, the album of the year. If you like Coldplay, you'll love Keane. Damien Rice (b-sides) -- I adore this man! Sit back, relax and enjoy!
  6. QUOTE (Sodoff Baldrick @ Oct 1 2004, 07:37 AM) I thought they had decided on Ewan MacGregor to take over the role? They have also been batting aroung the idea of having Ioan Gruffudd take over the role.
  7. QUOTE (Sodoff Baldrick @ Sep 10 2004, 02:24 PM) QUOTE (Quyn @ Sep 9 2004, 09:24 PM) Okay --- here goes --- "Is your horse just washing his feet, or are the darker forces at work here?" Emma with Gyneth Paltrow. Tag Sodoff, you're it !

  13. QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Sep 8 2004, 01:26 PM) Scrooged?? Nope ... think older (before 1970)
  14. It had the added bonus that it ticked off Jack -- he is a big fan of Bruce Willis and mocks me for my adoration of "that freaky" Jeremy Irons. Oh well, gotta get the digs in where you can !
  15. Come on guys ... don't tell me I have stumped you! This one is really easy if you think about it. Let me know if you want hints or if you just want me to move on to someone else !
  16. QUOTE (Sodoff Baldrick @ Sep 8 2004, 11:01 AM) Met and/or seen a number of famous celebs: When we lived in Athens, GA, we used to see the members of REM around town. When we lived in Williamsburg, VA, Bruce Hornsby and his date walked into the sushi restaurant where we were eating and sat at the bar next to us. Got David Hasselhoff's autograph at a Dead show last year. He was in town for some beach promotion. And Rudy Bosch from Survivor lives here. He was guest of honor at a function at my husband's college. My main thing is booksignings, though. Probably the biggest seller I met was Anne Rice. We got to meet Harlin Ellison and John Saul at the NA Science Fiction Convention.
  17. I used to work at the Charleston airport (the small private one) -- I got to meet a lot of different folks: Metaliica (what nice young men)! They invited us into the plane for beers Rod Stewart and Rachel Hunter Def Leppard (not such nice guys ... didn't realize they were has-beens by that time) Kenny Rogers ... stepped on my hand Jane Fonda and Ted Turner (I wanted to spit on her for my dad but refrained) Jimmy Buffett (he has a house in Charleston) Sammy Hagar Lately, I have been to a lot of concerts and have met the members of Blur, Travis, Damien Rice, and StarSailor Oh yeah .. and I pissed off Bruce Willis ... he was being a total butt and so I asked him when Jeremy Irons was coming in (they were filming Die-Hard III) and told him what a huge fan I was of Jeremy's
  18. QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Sep 8 2004, 07:00 AM) QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Sep 8 2004, 01:40 AM) If we're going to get into soundtracks, then I gotta speak up for 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?'. Great stuff! I actually mentioned "Oh Brother......" in the first post on the thread, to me, the music is so integral to the film it's far more than just background and atmopsphere. I made another glaring omission again, 24 Hour Party People, the story of "Madchester" and the rise and fall of Factory Records. I'm not sure how big it was across the Atlantic, but a fabulous film!!. I thought 24 Hour Party People was awesome. There is another one you might enjoy --- "Live Forever". It is the story of Britpop as told by the actual players. They interview Noel Gallagher, Damon Albarn, 3D (Massive Attack), Jarvis Cocker (Pulp), etc. Lots of great music !
  19. I was a King Tut fan myself !
  20. QUOTE (BSG @ Sep 7 2004, 01:53 PM) QUOTE (Quyn @ Sep 7 2004, 01:57 PM) BTW --- tell your princess Happy Birthday for us !! Will do! She's 5 today! (Need to add her as a member, so we can celebrate.) J/K! Here's a pic of her and her BIG brother, her hero, Sean. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/bsg2112/bsg2112/AintThatSweeeeet.jpg What an angel !! Was that the only time she was quiet during the mandatory evacuation procedures?
  21. QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Sep 1 2004, 10:46 AM) QUOTE (Moonraker @ Sep 1 2004, 11:40 AM) I never thought I would say this after Batman Forever, but I'm actually excited about this new Batman movie. That trailer has a much darker atmosphere then the cartoony ones in Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. It almost even seems darker then the first two. Thanks for the link Jack. You're very welcome, and I agree absolutely with everything you said. Plus, the cast is amazing! Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Liam Neeson. I am very tempted to say: 'How can they go wrong?'. Don't forget the incomparable Cillian Murphy as the Scarecrow !

I have such fond memories of this movie !! When I was 13 ... the Bee Gees ROCKED ! Oh God ... did I just date myself or what i liked when aerosmith had there lil part in that movie I had such a crush on Barry Gibb -- quite frankly, Steven Tyler scared the bejebus out of me. I'm from a little small town in North Carolina -- I had never seen such a thing as him! L0L oooo i loved it.....since i have a brother 4 yrs older then me, an had a sister that was 10 yrs older then me, i was alwayz round the good music an was alwayz ontop of the music scene Raeford, North Carolina is the cultural blackhole of the East Coast so, it took me awhile to figure things out. I had no clue who Rush was until high school and I happened to date a guy who worshipped them. Before that ... parties were always Lynard Skynard and the like (little wonder I didn't go out that much!) But I finally got with the program (and discovered "Rock Over London")
