Unfortunately the dweeb has psychic powers and brainwashed Geddy, Alex and the horrid fans into believing no one can fill his shoes....

Well, to me Alex was immensely talented and a naturally gifted guitarist who loved the spotlight (Geddy mentioned something that he loved to show off). Ultimately Alex and Geddy's desire to succeed over came obstacles that sideline most wannabees. Alex was driven because he had a family to support, Geddy seems to have been driven by his parents experience during the Holocaust. But let's face it, luck played a major role...If Donna Halper called in sick and Rush was delivered to an unsympathetic DJ, Rush would be a big zero. How many people told the band that Geddy was toxic and an obstacle to their success. I would wager: Everybody Didn`t Ray Daniels want to demote/fire Geddy and hire a new singer?

...er....budding big egos combined with the love of playing an instrument? I'm also guessing Gary and Alex didn`t want 'real' jobs (like being a plumber). It's a good thing the two realized it was a pipe dream to succeed. Hence they played their collective tails off, forcing their will upon the cosmos, bending musical time and space... :D

Agreed, Horizons sounds like it could be any arrangement in an instructional book, don`t get me wrong, it's quite nice. While I thought Broon's Bane was more of an original composition, Alex said it was just a mish-mash of all the classical pieces he had learned. :)

I am sure that most posters get the irony and sarcasm. The point is that this trolling in every Peart-related topic isn't funny. Its boring and ruins any real conversation. Maybe some posters need to come up with new jokes instead. New drummer = New jokes....problem solved. :D Maybe they need Shrimpton to join up. Is he still alive and kicking? sadly, no....

Some of his best. To me this is the best overall-sounding album Rush/Broon produced. I like the guitar sound, but the bass and drums sound so good, the guitar just becomes a part of the arrangement (which is the idea I guess) Classic sound and look...(this is classic Lifeson, and would be my favorite if there was a topic....hhmmmm ;) ) (edit: silly gramma)

...just to add my follow-up sound would be from P/G. Sometimes the tone sounds like it came out of a snowy, frigid, pitch black night in the middle of nowhere... (his white Hentor and flanger?)

Ok, in continuation of all things Lifeson... (and apologies if this was already discussed, I couldn't find it) What`s your favorite Lifeson sounding guitar, tone, gear or set-up? (inset favorite....) Mine is whatever he did to record All the World's A Stage. The Les Paul he configured is forever my favorite...it's why I wanted to pick up a guitar...the best I could do was buying a stock Gibson HR Fusion and Marshall) Next? :)

Of course Rush is looking for a new drummer. If they made a better a choice the first time, they'd still be recording and touring... :P
