  1. Unfortunately now that Ortiz is in it's going to make the argument for the rest of the steroid cheats that much stronger. He just happened to be the nicest of them all. He was a big guy though even when I saw him playing in Salt Lake City
  2. Sheesh. Now they might get Barkley from TBS as well as the women's tour.
  3. I'm supposed to go out Sunday with my old college marching band director whom I haven't seen in 30 years. But it's going to be 94 and humid as all hell. I keep hoping he'll reschedule...
  4. I haven't posted much because I have sucked, biggly. But today I finally shot a round worth being happy about. I only shot a 50, but I felt like I was in every hole except for one. I think it helped that I spent the extra 10 bucks to ride rather than walk in this humidity. The other foursome of our group walked and they were dead dog tired by the 6th hole, because every single hole until number 8 is either up or down a hill. Plus the loudmouth didn't show up. We knew he wouldn't
  5. Cam Smith takes the trophy and now it looks like he's bailing for the Arab tour as well. At what point is the PGA forced to come to the table?
  6. We went to Front St Pizza, and then Oddfellows Ice Cream. The second place by the ferry was Ignazzio's. We're definitely going back in the fall.
  7. We walked over the Brooklyn Bridge today to get some REAL pizza. As good as it was , the place we walked by a little later smelled even better. It was all I could do not to walk in and get another slice. Had some awesome ice cream too.
  8. A few that come to mind... 1. The Yankees '78 season, with Ron Guidry going 25-3, coming back from 14 games down, the Boston Massacre in September and Bucky Dent's homer in the 1 game playoff. The World Series was somewhat anti-climactic, beating the Dodgers in 6. A great time for a 9 year-old... 2. UConn men's basketball 1990 and 1999 seasons. 1990 was memorable because we weren't expected to do anything at all and came within a Christian Laettner buzzer beater of the Final Four. I was at those games in the pep band. 1999 was memorable foe finally winning the title, getting sweet revenge on heavily-favored Duke. 3. Mark McGwire in 1998. It turned out to be fraudulent, but it was sure exciting as it happened. The games were nationally broadcast, it was that big a deal at the time. 4. Johannes-Thignes Boe's 2019 IBU World Cup Biathlon season. Complete dominance over the course of the season.
  9. Standard procedure during negotiations. Our contract was up in April and we had the authorization vote in March. Negotiations are moving along pretty well so we still work. It will make for a nice retro-bump once it finally gets finalized. Assuming the negotiations are progressing, I wouldn't expect a stoppage. But if they're not, striking the All-Star Game makes a nice impact statement.
  10. I know the Yanks have a 15 game lead but watching them blow that game last night really pissed me off. Stupid running plays, stupid managing and freaking Donaldson choking on a game-ending doubleplay ball.
  11. Not that anyone really checks here, but Damian Lillard just signed a 2 year extension for 122 million. To which every single NFL player said WTF....
  12. I will have plenty of time with the net this week. Just tested positive for covid. The horrible taste in my mouth from the Paxlovid pills is worse than any symptoms I've had so far.
  13. How did that happen? They initially used the money they saved up front to invest with Bernie Madoff.
  14. I had pretty much stopped listening to vapor trails by that point but something about seeing some of the songs live fired it back up for me. I had just gotten back to Connecticut and wasn't working yet so I found myself going on long, wandering drives playing it start to finish.
  15. I remember Geddy in his initial address saying "It's been...quite long enough!" and also dedicating Between Sun And Moon to John Entwistle, who had died a day or two earlier. Alex's rant was just him saying something like "Barberina" over and over again. A few weeks later I saw them in Mansfield and the sound quality was much better. Then I saw them at Mohegan Sun at the end of the American leg. That 1 blew me away because I grew up 2 minutes from there. In a million years I would have never imagined Rush playing Uncasville Connecticut. Growing up that area was the site of a factory that made parts for nuclear reactors. The Indians offered to drop their lawsuit against the town if they could have that land and build the casino.
  16. Just realized that today is the 20th anniversary of the gig in Hartford opening the tour. I had just moved home from Utah 3 days earlier. Getting to this concert was the thing that made me stick to the move this year. For 2 previous years I had been trying and canceling at the last minute. Fun night!
  17. I went to high school with their pitching coach. I'll let him know if I see him over the winter...
  18. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/34154120/seattle-mariners-fan-sends-jesse-winker-pizza-ejection-major-brawl-los-angeles-angels After the big brawl between the Angels and Mariners yesterday, a Mariners fan in Arkansas had a Mountain Mike's pizza doordashed to Jesse Winker. What's crazy is he actually got it! She then used Twitter to have people tip the driver and they blew up his venmo. Awesome. I just sent him a couple bucks.
  19. https://twitter.com/6undy/status/1541260388041314306?t=LXrFXRlI21VFq6a1iipxOg&s=19 It took less than 10 minutes for them to dent it
  20. So I've only been able to turn on tonight's game right at the start of the last Tampa power play. From what I've seen Tampa is completely controlling the tempo so far. But my gosh the Tampa coach looks like such an arrogant douchebag.
