  1. As discussed the other thread on the stick hitting countdown thing, I too think it's a cool little touch. I wondered, however, if it is Neil doing it or if in fact it is Nick we're hearing, clicking his "batons" together as part of his conducting of Neil's drum parts. Either way, I like it!
  2. I'm pretty sure this has been discussed in their posts here. Consensus is that it is a misprint on copies sold in Canada.
  3. QUOTE (trenken @ Jun 15 2012, 01:28 PM) QUOTE (D3strukt @ Jun 15 2012, 01:25 PM) QUOTE (trenken @ Jun 15 2012, 01:20 PM) QUOTE (canadianice @ Jun 15 2012, 11:34 AM) QUOTE (trenken @ Jun 15 2012, 10:55 AM) $20? Not even close to worth it to me for a difference you'll only barely notice on an expensive system. I bought it, and i can hear you bitching way more clearer Go f**k yourself and dont quote me everytime I type something. f***ing dickhead up my ass all day. Dont you have any hobbies or anything? EDIT- Nevermind, the dude is over 20 years older than me. Im not arguing with some old cranky bitch. Ah, canadianice is following you around again? You should be able to block his posts in your settings. Didnt know that. I never talking to this f***ing guy and he's completely obsessed with me. Literally every time I write on this site he's hanging from my nut sack. When Im as old as he is and if Im harrassing people on an internet message board, Ill just hang myself with my own underwear before I end up like this ***t. See, I keep seeing "canadianice" and reading it as "Candace", so in my mind it's a middle-age Soccer Mom who is frustrated that her Rush-obsessed husband doesn't pay enough attention to her so she's coming here to take it out on us and has fixated on you. Kind of like how in my mind Treeduck looks exactly like his avatar or sig photos (not buckethead), when he's probably...well...not. That said, his/her comment was pretty funny.
  4. So....have you read the preview chapters? Any thoughts you'd like to share with the class??
  5. QUOTE (Chicken hawk @ Jun 15 2012, 02:43 PM) internet explorer but opening up Cygnus it ok there. Maybe i should download google chrome as i never heard of the other one u mentioned (IE 9) Thanks Mighty IE 9 = Internet Explorer version 9 That said, I recommend Google Chrome. I find it faster and "cleaner" than Internet Explorer.
  6. QUOTE (Chicken hawk @ Jun 15 2012, 02:31 PM) That is a great picture....but the link Neil Peart Jag2112 put down is coming in HUGE. I have to move it around to see every part. How can i fix it smaller? What web browser are you using? IE 9 and Google Chrome both resize the image to fit your web page. Your pointer will become a little plus sign, so when you click on the picture it will revert back to its original size (which may make you scroll to see it all)...and clicking it again will get it back to its window-fitting size. Looks like this picture is about 1220x830 pixels, which is big but not too big.
  7. QUOTE (Chicken hawk @ Jun 15 2012, 02:27 PM) Just got my copy ! About to play it now...whats this stick count? You'll hear it...happens twice in the song (that i've heard), at ~1:20 and again at ~3:15.
  8. This bit grabbed me right from the first time I heard it. It's just cool. Actually, while I assume it's Neil banging the sticks together, wouldn't it be funny if it was actually NICK R banging his sticks together as part of his "conducting" Neil during the recording, and it got picked up by the mics and they deceided to leave it in?
  9. QUOTE (The Mighty Dudad @ Jun 13 2012, 03:51 PM)Thanks for the feedback! Between this and the other Anarchist thread, there's lots for me to consider the next time I listen. I'll be sure to let y'all know when it all clicks for me! (...because you'll no doubt all be sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for that to happen...) ...and just like that, it CLICKED! I think I was just trying to hard to "get it", because once i just let it wash over me, it all snapped into place. It's a great feeling (kind of like when you finally manage to get that dang sesame seed out from between your teeth...you know the one). Music, lyrics, "feel", tone, placement, etc., it all works for me now. Ok, y'all can go back to doing what you were doing, I'm better now.

  12. As I stated in the other Anarchist thread that I started before seeing this one...I'm having trouble getting into this one. I can certainly appreciate many of its various parts and elements (the drum intro, the guitar riff just before the 1 minute mark, the eastern-tinged solo, etc.), but they've yet to congeal as a whole for me. Hopefully they will, but this one just hasn't been as "immediate" as many of the others.
  13. QUOTE (analog guy @ Jun 13 2012, 01:22 PM) It's the guitar riff. The second one, at 0:56. There's something about that which is very much a throwback, and a nice hook to boot. Almost sounds like it could have been lifted from an Exit Stage Left solo. That's the one bit on the record that's being stuck in my head today. I already made a ringtone out of it. Thanks. That riff has a bit of a "Nocturne" feel to me.
  14. oops...never mind...just saw the whole big long "The Anarchist" thread and will look there for inspiration.
  15. I've now had the pleasure of listening to the complete CD a few times. Each listen has been the complete disc, not just cherry picking songs or playing the first half now and the second half later. While I have no doubt that I will eventually start doing that (66 minutes is a pretty healthy chunk of time to devote), for now I want to experience the album (and concept) as a whole. Setting aside BU2B2 for the moment, which I view as an interesting transition/experiment more than a song, the only song I'm really having trouble seriously getting into is The Anarchist. In looking at the "Song Rank" threads, this track seems to be pretty consistently in the top 3-4 of people's early favorites...so what am I missing? What are the elements you're hearing that make many of you rank it so high? I'll certainly keep at it, as I want to dig this song as much as I do the rest of CA, but it's curious to me. Ahh, next week this could be my favorite song and I may be having trouble with The Wreckers...tis the nature of a Rush album.
  16. QUOTE (Lerxster @ Jun 13 2012, 12:21 PM)QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Jun 13 2012, 12:00 PM) "Faux pas"? Really? I'd say it was an intentional omission and no biggie, but that's me. Yep, you heard me. Faux pas! Why insert ii- Pedlar 2 saying , in quotes, "What do you lack" into the booklet if we weren't meant to hear it. Faux pas!! ...maybe it's just that the production is so bad, you can't hear it in the final mix...
  17. QUOTE (Rush-O-Matic @ Jun 13 2012, 10:46 AM) QUOTE (The Mighty Dudad @ Jun 13 2012, 10:44 AM) QUOTE (bis88 @ Jun 13 2012, 09:26 AM) http://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p486/bis88/IMG_1367.jpg Holy crap...not only was it printed with all times 0:00, but the freakin' CD itself was printed upside down! ... It should be fine if you hold your CD player sideways . . . Maybe, but will you then need to listen to it while standing on your head to make up for the sound coming out sideways or upside down?

  19. Bought/DL'd a copy from iTunes late Monday night, and bought a copy from Best Buy during my lunch break on Tuesday.
  20. QUOTE (shail @ Jun 13 2012, 07:03 AM) The clicking of the sticks in clockwork angeles. He doesn't need to click the sticks 4 times to bring in the band. Kind of works though. It will work well live. This. Certainly unnecessary, but a cool little flash that propels the band into the "Double Agent"-ish sections of the song.
  21. After just a couple of full listens, not an easy choice. These are almost certain to change: Top 4 (not in order): - Headlong Flight - The Garden - Clockwork Angels - Halo Effect Even though you didn't ask... Middle 5 (not in order): - Caravan - BU2B - Seven Cities of Gold - Wish Them Well - The Wreckers Bottom 3 (not in order): - BU2B2 - Carnies - The Anarchist
  22. I am not an audiophile, nor do I care to be one (IMO they seem to spend more time looking for flaws than enjoying the music). On my decent but far from spectacular home system, Clockwork Angels sounds great!
  23. CA is: #4 album on iTunes (for ALL music, not just Rock) #1 on Amazon ...and blowing my mind on my first full listen (basking in Halo Effect as I type this).
  24. On my first joyous listen right now...up to Carnies. Holy Freaking Hell!
  25. QUOTE (Snaked @ Jun 11 2012, 10:32 PM) Carnies and Halo Effect are in their correct spots just the names were inverted somehow. Just click one, edit info and change the name. How Apple screwed that up I'll never know. Shoddy Apple nonsense...never would have happened in Steve's day. So just need to edit the titles? Any way to do it from my iPad or do I need to do it via iTunes on my laptop?
