  4. No pyro outdoors in Chicago (smallish open air pavilion). Not only that, but the spider light rig was stationary and did not move at all. My guess is it's a combination of the local codes, stage size, etc.
  5. QUOTE (Mr. Krinkle @ Jan 4 2011, 11:35 AM) QUOTE (The Mighty Dudad @ Jan 4 2011, 10:18 AM) Are 20K seats really available for sale? Not sure if that number includes seats behind the stage (which obviously aren't sold). In the past, I also recall parts of the 300's "draped" and not for sale. Wonder if they are doing that this time around. Not saying that I don't believe that "500 seats left" is what TM told Mr. Krinkle, I just don't believe that's an accurate number. The fact that this morning I could get 6 seats together in the 100's halfway back tells me there has to be more than 500 seats left. I guess it will all be moot come April 12th. The people who are there will have an amazing time. The stage sides and back are closed. That leaves about 18,000 seats. This girl today, just told me 50 or less seats remain. I have no idea what the truth is now, but she told me there were areas where pockets of seats are open , then some scattered. I would think that there is at least 15,000 tickets sold for this show and that is a LOT of people. That's just my estimation. Chicago shows are always well attended. The Tinley Park Sept. 8, 2007 concert was packed and that was the most attended show of the tour...I think.. Well, if there are 50 seats or less available at the UC, then 10 of them are together, because I was just able to find 10 seats together in section 110 (Alex's side, 3/4 back) Row 14 Seats 3-12. Gotta love TM. I would LOVE to see this show sell out. Nothing better than a packed house and a pumped crowd...and Chicago crowds are always loud and appreciative.
  6. QUOTE (rummut71 @ Jan 4 2011, 10:33 AM) QUOTE (Mr. Krinkle @ Jan 4 2011, 09:12 AM) I called Ticketbastard yesterday and this is the info I was given... Scattered floor seats in Chicago...maybe 500 seats total left in the UC... MSG is basically 'sold out', with maybe 50 seats remaining. With three months left to go before the shows, I'd say that they are selling quite well based on just those two shows. The United Center holds around 20,000 people for concerts... My skeptical hat is on again if it is to be believed that there have been 19,000 Rush tickets sold for this show no matter what they told you. Hell, even 15,000. Hell, even 12,000 which is more than they sold the last time they were there. Are 20K seats really available for sale? Not sure if that number includes seats behind the stage (which obviously aren't sold). In the past, I also recall parts of the 300's "draped" and not for sale. Wonder if they are doing that this time around. Not saying that I don't believe that "500 seats left" is what TM told Mr. Krinkle, I just don't believe that's an accurate number. 7. Not sure how strong sales are for the 4/12 Chicago United Center show. Just checked Ticketmaster and if I wanted to buy 6 tickets, I can still get good seats in the 100s (sec 101, about center ice). Not a great sign if you ask me.
  8. I got Hemispheres. Pretty much nailed me spot on (and, yes, I'm also a Libra).
  9. Chicago Rain Date (8/23), $300 x 1 on StubHub 5 days before the show. 2nd row, Alex's side. Got bumped up to the front row at the venue.
  10. QUOTE (thing2jordan @ Aug 29 2010, 07:05 PM) QUOTE (richedie @ Aug 29 2010, 07:54 PM) Does anyone know when that dinner scene was filmed? Was it right before they got back together or was it just before the Snakes and Arrows album writing? I assumed it was filmed during the making of the movie, and it looks very recent. I want to say November 2009?? I recall Neil mentioning something about the three of them meeting in LA in one of his NeilPeart.net news updates late last year.
  11. At #143 already and no sign of "Speed of Love" yet?? That, along with Neurotica and You Bet Your Live, are definitely in my bottom 10. Looking forward to watching this progress...although I really hope you have thick skin.
  12. If you have Windows 7, it comes with a program called Snipping Tool (found under Accessories in the Start menu). Does the same thing.
  13. QUOTE (fonzbear2000 @ Aug 27 2010, 12:46 AM)QUOTE (Mr. Krinkle @ Aug 15 2010, 09:58 PM) QUOTE (Synth Sense @ Aug 15 2010, 09:49 PM) http://www.rushisaband.com/comment.php?article_id=2271 I don't think it's been posted, but one of the comments here (I think #26) has a possible answer as to why he's so pissed. "Yes, Alex finally got tired of a guy who had been videotaping him the whole show and asked him to stop...more than once. The guy kept filming...." And what did I say in the sixth post????..... "My guess is someone is taking constant photos or video." Thank you. Considering all the Rush boots floating around, I thought they were perfectly fine and open to people doing it. Agree. They know that particular horse has left the barn, and there is nothing to be done about it. Heck, I even saw Geddy and Alex practically pose for some pictures in Chicago this week. Better explanation is the drunk, unruly, oblivious fan.
  14. Great Pix. Saw myself up by the stage in the pre-show picture.
  15. Great review Chris. It was great meeting you during intermission and sharing a drink and a chat. - TMD (Dave)
  16. Thanks. Too bad the video I took is worthless. Picture is great, but the audio is craptacularly bad. The bass cabs (or subwoofers or whatever they were) that I was standing in front of were too much for my little blackberry and overpowered its audio capabilities. Oh well, at least I got great pix and even better memories.
  17. Here are a few of the pix I took last night. Crappy Blackberry camera...sorry. http://www.rushisaband.com/graphics/ti/full/5970.jpg http://www.rushisaband.com/graphics/ti/full/5972.jpg http://www.rushisaband.com/graphics/ti/full/5968.jpg http://www.rushisaband.com/graphics/ti/full/5966.jpg http://www.rushisaband.com/graphics/ti/full/5963.jpg -TMD
  18. What a great experience! I saw you coming down from your stage tour just as I was making my way to my spot at the other end of the barricade. I remember thinking "how lucky for these folks to get on stage" and "just how the heck DOES one get on stage anyway??". Nice vids as well. Interesting watching the songs from a different perspective...like you filming Geddy going to the other side of the stage during YYZ when at that point he was standing right in front of me! I took a few vids as well from my blackberry, but the sound is complete and utter crap. The bass cabs I was standing in front of completely crushed the audio capabilities of the smartphone. TMD
  19. I took my oldest to the Test For Echo tour when he was 7, and my other two to Snakes & Arrows at 9 and 12. They had a blast. There's always a chance that some drunk idiot will be nearby, and they may hear some salty langauge and possibly smell something funny, but overall it's a cool experience for them. I was at the Chicago show last night, and saw lots of kids rocking out and having a great time. Note, however, make sure they are wearing ear plugs. Finally, just be aware that you will be ruining all future concert going experiences for them, as they are starting with the best band they will ever see. It's all downhill from there. - TMD
  20. How about "MY greatest Rush show ever"?
  21. What a night! When the tour dates were first announced, I was disappointed because I knew that I would not be able to attend either of the two Chicago dates, and try as I might, I couldn't rig my work travel schedule to get to a show in another city. So, imagine my secret delight when the July 7 show was rained out. Rain out means reschedule, and reschedule means I'm back in the game. When the August 23rd date was announced, I was determined to do what it took to be there. THE TICKET: Knowing that I'd be going solo this time around, I wanted to try to get as close to the stage as possible. Given the 7/7 rain out, I thought there may be folks that simply couldn't make the new date and would be looking to sell. I kept looking at Ticketmaster, TicketsNow, and Stubhub. Finally, less than a week ago, I saw a Section 104 Row B ticket on StubHub (2nd row, Alex's side) and immediately grabbed it. Having never been closer than the high 20s before, I couldn't believe I would be in the second row. THE BUMP UP: Got to Charter One and through the gates just after they opened at 6:30. Went to my seat, which was a few feet outside of Alex's microphone and pedal gear setup. Perfect view of everything. There was a group of 5 guys standing in front of me. I joked with them that I hoped they would sit down during the show so I could see. We got to talking and it turned out that they got comp tickets through Anthem (they all work for JBL) and when the five of them showed up and picked up the tickets, there were 6 tickets in the envelope. They gave me their 6th ticket and I moved up the FRONT ROW! Brian, Bob, and all - you guys were awesome. Folks in the front row got special wrist bands that allowed them to stand at the railing. Security did a good job making sure only front row folks were at the railing. THE SHOW: Can't describe how incredibly amazing it was. I'm not going to do a song-by-song recap...no way I could do it justice. Geddy was a mad man on the bass. I wish he came to our side a bit more, but I'm not complaining. Alex more than made up for that, spending alot of time over by us (didn't hurt that there were a couple of attractive ladies along the railing near me). As has been reported elsewhere, Alex absolutely SHREDDED the solo in Working Man. I didn't have that much energy at 26, and have even less at 45...amazing what he can do at 56! Lights, production, etc. were all top notch. However, don't ask me what was on the video screen; other than the opening and closing videos, I don't think I looked at the screen once (I guess that's one difference with being so close). MISCELLANEOUS: - Got the chance to meet lots of great folks. I spent much of the intermission talking to Chris (Chrxtopher), who some of you may recognize from Beyond the Lighted Stage (Chris is the fan speaking about Subdivisions). He was in front of me in the beer line, and we struck up a great conversation. Nice meeting you Chris! Hope you enjoyed the rest of the show. - At one point during the second set, I got a tap on my shoulder and turned around to stare into the face of Michael Mosbach (Rush's head of security). My first thought was "crap, what did I do??" No worries, though. He had a dad and his young son with him, and was wondering if I'd be willing to give them a little space at the railing. I said no problem, and let them take my spot. Next to me was a guy who wasn't supposed to be at the railing (no wrist band), so when he was finally asked to go back to his seat by security, I was able to take his spot. - Great crowd, especially up front (at least from my perspective). Everyone was there for a great time and was very well behaved. Security did a good job with the few who tried to crash the front row. Didn't see any real security conflicts until after the show when some guy was screaming and swearing at the head security guy in the front row. Looks like it came close to a full blown fight, but I didn't stick around to watch. - Finally, FREE CUSTOM "RAIN DATE" HATS!! How awesome is that?? Sorry for the long post. It was an AMAZING night! - TMD
  22. I heard that the skies opened up and it got ugly nasty really fast. I was worried about the weather all day...always a risk at a completely outdoor facility like Charter One Pavilion (and a good reason to stay at the covered First Midwest Bank Ampitheater or United Center). On the bright side, I was unable to attend either show in Chicago this week, so I'm hoping for a reschedule so I can go!
