Reports are that GOP state senator Dusty Hawckert of South Dakota got shot in the foot this morning by his 6-year-old son who was playing with the AR-15 Hawckert got him for Christmas to "own the libs." I don't care what you think about guns but if you give a 6 year old an AR style rifle you are a terrible parent. Lucky for him it was just his foot but maybe he'll have a permanent limp to remind him of his very poor decision.

A state that is run by leftists who are trying to tax us into oblivion all while passing new gun laws that will have no effect on crime, Washington. But that has nothing to do with how Texas lawmakers are running that state. I sense the sarcasm. The thing of it is, people are willing to put up with certain things by their government if they can afford to live there. A lot of the people moving to Texas left California because their paycheck wasn't going as far as it had.

Depending on the specific circumstance it could be the fault of the non-automobile operators. Around here pedestrian deaths have increased as has homelessness and I can't help but think those are connected. Someone on the Fentanyl or meth or just mentally ill wanders or stumbles into traffic and gets hit. Last year we were going to a movie and a guy holding his hands to his head as if he was trying to block the voices literally walked across in front of us and didn't so much as look at us. Had we been going faster or me not seen him we'd have almost surely hit him. It scared the crap out of me.
