    Marathon

Definitely one of my favorites. And Power Windows is easily in my top 5 Rush albums.

  3. 2112. Sorry, but someone had to say it. :16ton:
  4. I more or less agree. The first 4 albums and the last 4 albums just don't do it for me. On the other hand, everything they released from 1980-89 is superb.
  5. 2112 is the most overrated Rush album, while Presto is the most underrated.
  6. No. Its a great album for sure, definitely essential Rush. But what the band truly excels at would be demonstrated on Permanent Waves and perfected on Moving Pictures.
  7. Nah, the problem with T4E is quite simply the songwriting. Its actually not a bad album at all, it just has a very uninspiring "Rush on autopilot" feel to it, perhaps more than any other album they ever released. With that said, I think the weakest moments on this album are not nearly as cringeworthy as the weakest moments on some other releases (I'll take "Dog Years" or "Virtuality" over "Tai Shan" or "Face Up" any day).
  8. When "Stick it Out" was released for radio back in 93'. I HATED that song so much that I never bought Counterparts until many years later. I wish they had released something else as the lead single, because overall I ended up liking the album once I finally listened to it. But I have to say, I listened to Counterparts the other day for the first time in a while...and I still don't like "Stick it Out." :|
  9. I love Countdown, Afterimage, Emotion Detector, and Anagram. Not so much Speed or Open. Anagram is my second favorite off Presto, but you are right that it is widely reviled. I don't get it. I love word play, and the whole song is a word game. It's disposable fun, but it's pure fun. IMHO Presto is clearly the most underrated album in the entire Rush catalogue. :)
  10. Countdown Afterimage Emotion Detector Open Secrets Anagram Speed of Love
  11. Signals Grace Under Pressure Power Windows What can I say, I like this period
  12. Rush, Caress of Steel and Vapor Trails. The first album was a "misfire", COS was a failed first attempt at prog, and VT suffers from horrendous production decisions (not only terrible sound engineering, but no guitar solos and no keyboards as well-LAME!!! :rage: )
  13. "Between the Wheels" on the Snakes and Arrows tour. I was elated when they started playing that one! Also, it was cool seeing them perform "The Camera Eye" on the Time Machine Tour, considering it was rarely (perhaps never?) performed live before then.
  14. Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures for sure, simply because I'm burned out on the FM rock radio staples. Counterparts is one I have warmed up to over the years, but don't listen to it much.
  15. My first newly released Rush album was Presto. I remember seeing the video for "Show Don't Tell" when it was first aired on MTV. After that, I started buying their previous releases and the rest is history.
  16. Rush: Here Again Fly By Night: Rivendell Caress of Steel: Fountain of Lamneth 2112: Tears A Farewell To Kings: Cinderella Man Hemispheres: Circumstances Permanent Waves: Natural Science (one of the best things they've ever written, period) Moving Pictures: Witch Hunt Signals: Countdown (yes, its about a space shuttle launch. But musically its A+) Grace Under Pressure: Afterimage (possibly my favorite track. Listen to the depth of emotion behind this one!) Power Windows: Emotion Detector (all around beautiful track) Hold Your Fire: Open Secrets (one of the more unique intros to a Rush song-very jazzy bass work) Presto: Anagram (I've always loved this track. It brings back the fantasy lyrics through 80s Rush style) Roll the Bones: Roll the Bones (take out the rap section and it would have been perfect) Counterparts: Speed of Love (never understood the hate for this song. The guitar work is beautiful.) Test For Echo: Time and Motion Vapor Trails: Freeze Snakes and Arrows: The Way the Wind Blows Clockwork Angels: Carnies
  17. While its not in my top 10 Rush albums list, I've always thought Snakes & Arrows was unique due to the huge role of acoustic instrumentation. And not just guitar, but also mandolin, mandola, bouzouki. Not to mention Geddy reintroducing the mellotron for the first time in how long? That's an instrument I wish they would have made more use of.
  18. 1- Rush: Need Some Love 2- FBN: Making Memories 3- Caress: I Think I'm Going Bald (It may have been intended as humor, but its still painful) 4- 2112 : 2112 (I know, I know....sorry, I've just never been a fan of it!) 5- AFTK: Cinderella Man 6- Hemispheres: Circumstances (not a bad track, just the weakest) 7- PeW: Different Strings (again, not BAD, just relatively weak) 8-MP: Vital Signs (ditto) 9- Signals: New World Man (who made the call to release this as the lead single???) 10- GUP: Red Lenses (cool track that sounds terribly incomplete. Maybe it should have been an instrumental?) 11- PoW: Territories 12- HYF: Tai Shan 13- Presto: Superconductor 14- RTB: Face up (up until THIS song, the album is solid. And then its all down hill...) 15- CP: Stick it Out (Yes, I said it :o) 16- T4E: Virtuality 17- VT: Stars Look Down 18- SnA: Good News First 19 CWA: Wish Them Well
