  1. Finding out that hybrid picking actually comes quite naturally. I had never really tried playing guitar before I got my Telecaster a few weeks ago. I'm having trouble fitting my fingers on the fretboard going up the neck, though. No such problems on the bass - and I hardly visit those frets anyway as I'm responsible of the low end. What actually SAVED my day and the day before has been the strong support from my family and friends as the finality of the breakup of our ten year relationship about 1,5 months ago has really hit me hard this week. The strong anxiety and sorrow feel a bit lighter when there are people around that really care. I'm so thankful I have those loving loved ones, and the bass, and the Tele.
  2. You really had a stunning start for the day!
  3. It seems like I have a new friend! With my old friends scattered in different places and after six and a half years of living in this city far away from home I've felt lonely. This friendly woman invited me to her house for the very first time today. We ate together, talked and laughed a lot, and cried a few tears, too, as we have so much in common. It turned out that she had been studying and working in the small village I come from. Both of us come from another part of Finland and have found this city quite hard to make new friends in (as do many, many others). Six hours passed quickly, and we immediately felt like we've known each other for ages. This is quite amazing!
  4. On my special day we celebrate the National Milk Chocolate Day. Not bad, but I'd prefer the lemon meringue pie.
  5. Yes. Despite the disappointing loss to Inter yesterday the season has started pretty well.
  6. This happened yesterday but will continue to make my day for a long time: I got to visit my friend in the hospital to meet her and her first baby. He's six days old today. Such a magical little guy.
  7. Well done blueschica! I'm sure he will be very happy. And greetings from a fellow Geddy-inspired bass player!
  8. Actually yesterday, but hearing that Aaron Spears has passed away earlier this week made me really sad. Such a loss. Way too early. Rest in peace, Aaron.
  9. It took the usual TRF turn. The Chronicles of Narnia is already mentioned. I read it many times as a tween and immersed deeply in it. Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials might be more appealing to teens, but it's worth keeping in mind for the near future. I remember enjoying Robert C. O'Brien's Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. Oh boy, it was a thrill! I think I will have to find it in the vaults of our library.
  10. Hi Dweezil! Welcome back! We've never met here before, I've only been here for some years now. I like TRF a lot. Sounds good that you've worked yourself out of bad things, thus changing the things you have power over. Speaking from experience, things really look brighter after therapy.
  11. Thank you, this is a must! And for the question: During these 2,5+ years I've experienced the lowest of ends, the punchiest of rage, and the grooviest of natural highs so if this counts as being human, I am.
  12. Mudcake with a fine brew of Gyokuro Asahi. After a tough week I'm in desperate need of the relaxing effect of L-theanine that this tea is known for in addtion to the great taste. And the mudcake won't do any harm, either, when it comes to relaxing.
  13. Happy Birthday, Laurabw! I hope you've had a blast on your special day!
  14. This morning as I was finishing my daily bass practice session I noticed that I have developed quite a lot of speed and control in both the right and left hand fingers. Practicing chromatic scales as a warm-up has made this happen so secretly that this has gone unnoticed even by myself.
  15. Yesterday I got tickets for my very first Brad Paisley concert in Stockholm 5th of March. I can hardly wait!
  16. The season for pumpkins and horror shows is again approaching. This thread about made me both laugh and miss Lorraine.
