  2. I really enjoyed the setlist for the TM tour. I'd like to hear The Analog Kid and Open Secrets mostly. Also I've recently developed a newfound appreciation for Emotion Detector and High Water...two songs I had previously not thought about much. I think both of those would be sweet to hear live. More tunes from VT would be cool too...particularly Ghost Rider, Peaceable Kingdom, & Nocturne.
  3. QUOTE (Pags @ Dec 16 2010, 01:18 PM) This horrible epidemic of suicide has hit our town. A high school freshman in our school district hung himself on Monday night. The shock waves are only just beginning to rip through this community. These poor kids, to have to deal with such loss and having to learn what suicide really is and what it really does to someone whom they'll never see again. I feel so bad for this poor 14 year old who felt that alone, and that much in despair that he would do this to himself. I have to wonder if in those final moments when it was too late to turn back if he was wishing he hadn't done this. What's pissing me off is the fact that we're learning the boy's suicide may be due to bullying because he was biracial. I mean, have we gone nowhere as a society that this narrow mentality is still so prevalent? What the f**k are these pin-headed dimwits teaching their children that their actions would drive this kid over the edge like that? What's pissing me off even more, is that the school won't even allow these grieving kids to openly discuss it. They are being silenced in class and told to speak in private only to a grief counselor if they feel it necessary. That's total bullshit to me. Everything is a Facebook page nowadays, and there is a FB page dedicated to this kid's memory. In it, I saw a parent write that this tragedy has given her the "courage" to tell her kids she loves them and tell them to stand up for themselves as well as others if they are unable. I suppose that's noble, yet at the same time I can't help but wonder why she wasn't teaching this to her children all their lives. It took THIS to tell them you love them, and start teaching them to stand up for themselves? Maybe this is why we're in such an epidemic of kids hurting themselves, because parents aren't talking to them! I thought this would have been something we'd be trying to teach to our children from the time they were old enough to talk. Please, I hope we're ALL teaching our children that we're always here to help them, and love them, and listen to them, and build them up to realize they are always worth more than what some lowlife may try to bring them down to feel like. Sorry, I'm rambling - but this awful tragedy has me a bit rattled. I can't believe I have to comfort my children about this, and have them see so up-close what suicide really is, and what it really does. This isn't something we're watching on the news at home, it's happening AT their home, in the town where they live. Perhaps this will help us in teaching them that this is never, ever the answer. I hope this family somehow gets through this, and I hope this community learns a lesson about tolerance and acceptance. Similar events have occurred in my area. The most recent was a 19-year-old was driving drunk around my town, he had a 17-year-old friend in the passenger seat. He ended up crashing the car and his friend, the passenger, died. He (the driver) only suffered minor injuries. It's horrible. In fact there are now THREE kids (all teenagers) who have died in a timespan of two years. All of them went to my high school and even worse is the same girl, at various points, dated all three of the boys who passed away.

Great show, his stand-up is also fantastic. I never seem to be able to catch the show when it's on but whenever I do it is hysterical.
  5. War Paint is ok but it's forgettable for me. I like the first three tracks and Scars off Presto...the rest is alright, just not very memorable...in my opinion.

  7. I'm not a big fan of her first two records, but Never for Ever is ok & I dig The Dreaming quite a bit. Have yet to listen to Hounds of Love and the rest of her work.
  8. Hey Goob...another excellent show! Thanks again for playing my 2 requests man, I very much appreciate it!! Open Secrets was also a pleasant surprise, it's my 2nd favorite off HYF and one of my top obscure favorites by them.
  9. Signals. Not an accurate description for me but it is my 2nd favorite album by Rush
  10. QUOTE (Natch @ Oct 28 2010, 10:42 AM) I just ordered "Recordings" yesterday. Any thoughts? Did I make a wise purchase? I have to say that I'm not big on 'Recordings'. Not surprised that all those tracks didn't make it on to their studio albums, sans half of Even Less. I dunno, it will probably grow on me but for now I'm not quite sure what to make of it. It's definitely a good purchase though, at least for big PT fans.

ReRushed I believe you & I are the most compatible on here in terms of music taste. I don't have much Fall in my collection, but This Nation's Saving Grace is currently in high rotation. Great stuff. I see, that's one of their best albums for sure. If you like this one so much I'd also get The Wonderful & Frightening World of The Fall. Similar sound to TNSG but with slightly lesser production.

Especially on the Deadwing album. Anyone agree/disagree? Great song. Its VERY underrated imo. 4:55 onwards...pure PT heaven Awesome, awesome song...I love that hard rock jam or as Steven once called it "that Townshend thing" and the vocal harmonies at the end of the song especially. Glad to see some others share my opinion!

  15. QUOTE (PolarizeMe @ Oct 20 2010, 07:42 PM) QUOTE (tjtull @ Oct 20 2010, 08:08 AM)QUOTE (Rush! @ Oct 20 2010, 12:19 AM) ^I was originally told that the Radio City show would be officially released, but then someone said the RAH show will be released instead. So I'm confused as well haha... I heard that "officially" they recorded the RAH show for release. However, I'm sure they are like most bands and record every show (in some form or another). So, there's always hope that RCMH will see the light of day in official release. I've been searching through their Twitter and on one post, they said they record almost every show for the archives and that they have many Incident shows recorded and most likely that includes the RCMH show. Also, I saw a post that mentioned the April 30th show at the Riviera Theater in Chicago was filmed but PT later said that the inclusion of songs that haven't been on a live release (The Incident, Bonnie The Cat, Russia on Ice and Stars Die) were not enough for a new DVD. So it's most likely we won't be getting a live DVD for awhile or at all. And regarding which show they will release, 3 weeks prior (Sep. 3rd) to the RCMH show they said that they're probably going to do "some kind of RCMH/RAH audio album if we can play the old songs well enough" I think from that statement, they're going to take the best performances of the two shows and release it on a live audio album for download on Burning Shed. Kinda like they did the Atlanta album in June for Mick Karn's cancer treatment. I see. That sounds valid, & like a solid way to release an album. Thanks for the info.
  16. QUOTE (ReRushed @ Oct 20 2010, 08:50 AM) The song "Djed" by Tortoise is simply sublime and amazing. Totally agree. Caroliner are one of the truly strangest bands I've ever listened to, but I like it.

  18. Anyone know anything about the release of the Radio City show? When will it be coming out?
  19. Just received CD-R copies of 'Warszawa', 'We Lost the Skyline', & 'Anesthetize' from a friend of my Uncle's. Probably going to listen to Warszawa later on tonight.
  20. Ok so I bought what I thought was the CD edition of The Incident at the Radio City Music Hall show the other night, and it turns out that it's the DVD-A edition. So I put it in the player & the videos & still images are coming up fine but I've got no audio. It says 'Unsupported audio signal. Please check your device output.' Anyone else having similar problems with it? And would anyone be able to give me a hand on solving this issue...?
  21. QUOTE (Natch @ Sep 25 2010, 05:21 PM) Here are a couple of pics I took at the show, and one of the shirt they were selling last night. Apologies for the lack of pics. I didn't bring a camera, and really couldn't get anything worth posting from my iphone... http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee47/kevinmcarney/PorcupineTree-RadioCity9-24-2010-1.jpg View from my seats... http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee47/kevinmcarney/RMCHstage-2.jpg Shirt... http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee47/kevinmcarney/PTShirtRCMH-1-1.jpg Sweet pics Natch. And I wanted to buy that shirt but I waited until after the show was over & by then they didn't have any more...but I ended up buying The Incident and Recordings so that was also well worth the money.
  22. QUOTE (sullysue @ Sep 25 2010, 03:21 AM) What the???.... Are you saying you haven't heard The Incident until tonight?!? If that's correct, first off... WTF????? Second... you must have been blown the hell away. Yeah Sue that's right haha. For whatever reason I just never got around to buying it so I had only heard clips of certain songs. But I did enjoy all of them, except 'Drawing the Line' was kind of weird...not sure I really dug that one. I was ecstatic when they played The Sky Moves Sideways...& Lazarus, I adore Lazarus. Dislocated Day was also a pleasant surprise--and in response to yr other post Sue, Gavin did tear it up. His drums sounded so punchy, it was great. Also, I couldn't believe when they started playing Anesthetize, but starting from that super heavy section around 6 or7 min. in. The only minor disappointment for me is they played nothing from 'Signify'. I was expecting to maybe hear The Sleep of No Dreaming, or Sever, or even Dark Matter since they were playing 'old shit'...but that's the only minor issue I had with it. I also picked up a copy of The Incident and Recordings on the way out from the show, $10 and $13 respectively. Pretty cheap for CDs these days. Other than that, it was a fine setlist. Definitely buying the live CD when it's released.
  23. What an amazing show. Anyone know where I can find the full setlist? Yes, there were a a couple songs that I didn't know... EDIT: Just found it on the PT forum. The songs I didn't recognize were from Up the Downstair & that's because I haven't listened to it in ages. And also, I hadn't heard anything from The Incident until tonight as well.
