  1. QUOTE (ReRushed @ Jun 18 2011, 03:54 PM) At the moment, I'm really digging Hot Rats. I always dig Hot Rats- Was & still might be my favorite FZ album. But then again there's Freak Out!, We're Only in It for the Money, Lumpy Gravy, Weasels Ripped My Flesh, Overnite Sensation... the list goes on. His body of work is impressive.
  2. QUOTE (ReRushed @ Jun 18 2011, 01:54 PM) Battles Gloss Drop is a wonderful album. Is it now? I've been meaning to listen to it since it came out but haven't had the chance yet. I'm seeing mixed reviews for it everywhere else, not that I base my opinion off them- just saying...
  3. For me RTB is a 50/50 album- Top half: 1. Dreamline 2. Bravado 3. Where's My Thing 4. Ghost of a Chance 5. Roll the Bones Bottom half: 6. The Big Wheel 7. Face Up 8. You Bet Your Life 9. Neurotica 10. Heresy Bottom 5 are sadly forgettable, but the top 5 are good songs.
  4. Their first few albums are pretty experimental but I really enjoy 'In den Garten Pharoahs'. You may enjoy their post-Hosianna Mantra albums- they're in a totally different vein than the first two.
  5. QUOTE (capoetc @ Jun 14 2011, 09:39 PM) QUOTE (Rush! @ Jun 14 2011, 08:24 PM) I think Earl made a good choice. Same reason I didn't go to see them for this leg either...because I already saw them on the first leg. I'm saving money up so I can see them on the tour for Clockwork Angels when the setlist will be re-vamped. Same set list as the Time Machine tour, except they are swapping out Moving Pictures for Clockwork Angels ... ** Ducking the vegetables being thrown ** Yeah but it'll be new music from Rush- that's the main reason I'm going for. I love the setlist as it is now anyway so it's all good.
  6. QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Jun 14 2011, 02:26 AM) QUOTE (Rush! @ Jun 13 2011, 11:06 PM) Big Hawkwind & Motorhead fan here. Hawkwind's early work is solid but the essential album for them, in my opinion, would be 1973's 'Space Ritual'. Double-LP live album.....It is amazing. Hey Rush! I've heard of that live album but I don't own it. Guess I will pick it up! Endless! Yeah man I'd try it out...it's a bit long but maybe you'll get a kick out of it. The 'interludes', although a bit corny, are pretty neat. You'll hear what I mean if you get it. Make sure, if you do choose to buy it, to get the newly remastered deluxe / special edition. Expanded liner notes, band photos, and extra artwork (which is awesome to begin with). Enjoy!

  8. QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Jun 8 2011, 09:18 AM) Also to close, OPEN SECRETS might just be the most underrated Rush song in their entire catelog. Seriously, it is criminally underrated...amazing tune that I really wish would see the light of day on tour. Yes Yes Yes. HYF probably sits at #11 or 12 for me on my Rush rankings. I'd rank the album itself like this: 1. Turn the Page 2. Open Secrets 3. Lock and Key 4. Prime Mover 5. Time Stand Still 6. High Water 7. Force Ten 8. Mission 9. Tai Shan 10. Second Nature (way too cheesy for me)

  10. I've read a lot about this band- Been meaning to check em out for a while.
  11. QUOTE (Tony R @ Jun 6 2011, 01:28 PM) QUOTE (Rush! @ Jun 6 2011, 06:25 PM) Lol why does everyone take the Internet so seriously. Cosy Toes is just some guy on a message board who tries to get a rise out of people he hasn't even met (and succeeds) and obviously has too much time on his hands. He's just like countless others on many other message boards, YouTube, etc. who have nothing better to do than try to get people they haven't even met pissed off. It's just absurd. Or make them laugh with him, at him or at themselves... Why do people get so upset and why does it become such an obsession with them? Fair enough. To be honest, I'm not upset at all. It's just silly to me how angry people get over one person. Also his particular weird brand of humor doesn't immediately resonate with people. I think it comes off as trollish behavior.
  12. Oh yeah and to actually stay on topic I think Caravan is an excellent song and it's an indicator that the new album will kick some serious ass.

  14. This guy's wonderful. I need more of his shit immediately.
  15. Most of those guys are solid rock drummers. The majority of lists I see like this usually only cater to rock & roll guys and never any other styles.
  16. Excellent show tonight! Really enjoyed the shoegaze / dream pop songs...especially cause I already know Slowdive and the Cocteau Twins. The other tunes were solid as well. Looking forward to next week's show!
  17. One of my all-time favorite bands. Have to go with Frances the Mute as my favorite, followed by De-Loused and Amputechture (underrated IMO). I also really enjoy the 1st half of Bedlam, & a few songs on the 2nd side but overall I think it's too long. Octahedron is my least favorite & it's pretty boring but has 4 really good tunes on it. Huge fan of all their drummers too...
  18. 2011 has been a quality year so far (top favorites are in bold): Between the Buried and Me - The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues Boris - New Album Burzum - Fallen Dum Dum Girls - He Gets Me High Earth - Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light 1 Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues PJ Harvey - Let England Shake Lil B - Angels Exodus Lil B - Red Flame: Devil Music Edition Lil B - Illusions of Grandeur Natural Snow Buildings - Waves of the Random Sea / Chants of Niflheim Panda Bear - Tomboy Radiohead - The King of Limbs R.E.M. - Collapse Into Now Scale the Summit - The Collective TV on the Radio - Nine Types of Light Tyler the Creator - Yonkers (single) / Goblin
  19. Actually just listened to this album a couple weeks ago. The piano work on it is awesome. Great album, & I'll be getting more of this band's work in the near future.
  20. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ May 7 2011, 10:29 AM) They are slowing down because the end of the world is coming. Anyway this is exciting news and I'm getting psyched for it. Neil's comment on his drumming also makes me feel good.
  21. The King of Limbs is a pretty good record. Not their best, imo, by any means. I think Little by Little and Give Up the Ghost are forgettable. My top 3 are Bloom, Feral (which is getting a lot of flack but I love it), and either Lotus Flower or Codex...can't decide. I agree with what Soni said too in regards to preferring Radiohead's electronic side.
  22. QUOTE (Mr. Krinkle @ Apr 30 2011, 02:06 AM) I think it's more about...listen to my big amp. I got the biggest amp and sub box in town. Listen to all the loose panels vibrate on my $hitbox car. More like a $5,000.00 penis extension. This is pretty much the Truth. They want to drive by and have everyone look at them & go nuts at the fact that they have an expensive sub-woofer. It's an extension of their penis, their ego. Their bass is better than everyone else's.
  23. Rush!

    Rank

Counterparts: 1. Cut to the Chase 2. Stick It Out 3. Animate 4. Leave That Thing Alone 5. Double Agent 6. Nobody's Hero 7. Alien Shore 8. Cold Fire 9. Everyday Glory 10. The Speed of Love 11. Between Sun & Moon
  24. Wow this is a very impressive list. A lot of yr favorites are also mine! Nice job my friend!
  25. Rush!

    CCR

Excellent band. I'd say everything from Bayou Country-Pendulum is worth it. My favorite songs are Bad Moon Rising, Lodi, Commotion, Looking Out My Back Door, & Run Through the Jungle.
