  1. That's awesome. He never claimed any one religion, but considered himself to be spiritual. I'm sure he would have appreciated that very much Requiescat in pace.
  2. I think the lyrics are great. When the song was first released an informed source (another teenager) told me the song was about the Moral Majority. Let's not forget that it's part 3 of the Fear Trilogy, an examination of different aspects of fear. (Until Freeze was released on VT. Then I guess it became part 3 of the Fear Tetralogy.) One of the coolest things about the Grace Under Pressure tour in 1984 was when Rush started playing "The Enemy Within," a murmur went through the crowd. Fear! fear, fear, fear ...
  3. Jules, when I copy and paste your link, this is what I get: Lactated Ringer's solution is commonly used as an IV treatment for dehydration or acid-base imbalances. Sorry about that! My fault. What's stupid is that I tried to be very careful about that link because it stands for Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home. So where rbhf came from I have no clue. So it should be www.rbfhsaline.com
  4. Pretty much if a band had an album, it was in his collection.
  5. I rather suspected it might fall to me to write the obituary, and sure enough. Not sure what minor edits the funeral home might make, but here it is as I wrote it. Thought you guys should be the first to see it. Gary Wayne Morningstar, 62, of Saline, Michigan, passed away August 12, 2020 at his home from complications of diabetes and heart disease. Gary was born May 15, 1958 in Ypsilanti, Michigan, to the late Robert and Velda (Alexander) Morningstar. He was a 1976 graduate of Saline High School, where he was a proud member of the marching band. A lifelong Boy Scout, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Gary was retired from Ford Motor Company, where he worked for many years. He was a gifted drummer and had an unrivaled depth of knowledge about music, particularly his favorite band Rush. He is survived by daughter Krystal, son Michael, brother Ronald (Shirley), sister Carol (John) Raymond, nieces Wendy (Pat) Michels, Julayne (Keith) Hughes, Brenda Morningstar, and Gail (Terry) Kruger. He is also survived by many cousins, several great-nieces and -nephews, two cats, and many friends around the world. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee. The family will hold a private graveside ceremony. Gifts in Gary’s memory may be directed to the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org. Please visit rbhfsaline.com to send condolences to the family or post memories you have of Gary.
  6. I think the best use of Tom Sawyer was in the TV show Chuck. One episode (Season 2, episode 5, aired 10-27-08: Chuck Versus Tom Sawyer) involved a video game that played the song and a player (the game inventor I think) kept saying "Rush is the music of the universe!" I couldn't agree more.
  7. That whole album is so terrific. It sounds awesome to my 2020 electronic music ears. Especially The Weapon. Listen to Neil on Subdivisions. He changes his pattern constantly through the song. I don't know any other pop/rock song (in the last 40 years) whose drummer does anything remotely like it. Subdivisions is my favorite Rush song ever, so speak on!
  8. We at least have a cause of death now. Cardiovascular disease. Still waiting for a more exact date of death and info on an obituary and service (if any).
  9. New World Man. *ducks and runs*
  10. Are you generally not all that thrilled with their earlier stuff, or is it a coincidence that much of this is from the earlier years?
  11. Oh Jules, we loved him!!!! Speaking for myself, I am still having a hard time adjusting to the fact that he won't ever come back here and that he is dead. He was very kind to me and a real friend. Would you be so kind as to let us know what he died from and where we can send something if you are having any type of a service for him? I know his name is Gary, but he will always be ORFie to me. Thanks for registering and posting. It means a lot to us. We still don't know what he died from. Hopefully the autopsy results will come in soon. There's not even an obituary yet, let alone a service. But as soon as I have that info I'll post it here.
  12. Hi all - I am ORF's niece who posted the notification on Facebook. I am blown away by the response. I knew he was heavily involved in this group and others, but didn't realize what a positive effect he had on those he interacted with. Thank you all.
