  1. You're in for a trip!!!! Greg is incredible, man. Not sure why he doesn't get more mentions when people talk about guitar heroes. Looking forward to listening Rod, hopefully I will have some time tomorrow to hear some of his stuff!!
  2. Another album which doesn't do much for me but at least I can summon up the enthusiasm to vote on this one! Dreamline Ghost Of A Chance CD only
  3. Interesting Rod - I have never listened to Greg Howe - must give him a go.
  4. Oh Jeez Pete Pardo was ranting about youtube commenters calling people names on his channel and getting personal. I hope it wasn't any of you lot... Hehehe ... not guilty m'lud! Pete's site is great .... lots of interesting bands and critique from Pete's point of view.... I enjoy it a lot. But as with everything else on Youtube, I observe but certainly do not comment at all..... too many nutters out there! It was the recent Alice in Chains video, some people objected to Pete pronouncing the singer's name wrong and resented the fact that he rated some of the new stuff above the old stuff. I think they had a pop at the guest Jeff Young (former Megadeth guitarist) as well. Yeah ... just watched Pete's 'rant'. It is bloody annoying when some of these abusive tossers actually discourage guests from appearing. Aye. I just noticed Rod's thread about Greg Howe. I must admit I have heard nothing by this guy - you listened to much of his stuff?

  7. Do we have to vote? - one bloody awful album. I was actually given the CD as a present .... that person really hated me lol!! Possibly my lowest point with Rush at the time.
  8. I have been listening to this recently (albeit in an expanded and reordered way) and I am really enjoying a great sounding show. Votes for Subdivisions & Closer To The Heart.
  9. Wow!! Well stated my friend!!!! I get it!!! I love both singers so much!!! You and I can just go with Angelo Moore!!!!! GENIUS! FISHBONE!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!! That's been our inside joke for 14 years!!!! LOL! "TRUTH AND SOUL" BABY! Mystic Mogg! :LMAO: Aye! It's been an interesting poll ..... got me digging out some vintage UFO for a blast! Name your top 5 UFO albums. All very personal for me ... a lot happening in my life in those days all centered around music .....1. Force It ..... first album I bought .... the day my A-level results came out - always remember heading to school to pick up the results and then into the record shop where i bought this. Happy days! 2. Lights Out ...... first tour I saw them on. A bunch of local lads in a metal band were going and had a spare ticket. They were a couple of years older than me so looked after a young 19yr old Paul in big old London. 3. Phenomenon....... all I need to say is Rock Bottom! 4. Obsession ...... last of the great UFO/Schenker albums. Sure he returned but the magic was somehow gone. 5. No Heavy Petting. The badly treated runt of the litter. All 5 from this magic Chrysalis period. Others were good, including the mighty Strangers In The Night but for me these 5 were so special. I've got Lights Out and then Obsession as my top 2. I'm not sure after that, probably Force It next. I think on Lights Out they were at their pinnacle ...... I seem to recall at the time a real buzz about all things UFO in the music press back then. Little did they know that Schenker was about to turn into mad Mickey!!

  14. TBH I know very little of Armored Saint's stuff so I vote for Anthrax on the strength of familiarity and also 1987's fine effort of Among The Living.
  15. My vote is for Marathon and Middletown Dreams but it can change easily as there are a couple of other things I like on this album.
  16. The album that I really struggled with back in the day. I stopped buying Rush albums at this point. It is only in recent times, as my musical tastes have matured, that can look at it in a more sympathetic light. I choose Red Sector A and Between The Wheels.
  17. I chose UFO because I grew up with them and was a big fan of mad Mickey. Was EVH a better guitarist?? ..... sure ..... but UFO were very personal to me and in my eyes a better band. I was fortunate enough to see them with Schenker at their peak in London 1977. Skinny dude with straight blond hair crouched over a Flying V in classic rock pose .... a sight to behold. The 5 Chrysalis albums - Phenomenon - The addition of Schenker elevated UFO from being an ok space-rock band to a sh*t hot hard rock unit. To this day the solo in Rock Bottom is one of my faves of all time. Force It - The first UFO album I bought. They were not at all well known at the time so I like to think of them as one of my musical 'discoveries'! Good place to start for a first time listener. No Heavy Petting - This wasn't that well received at the time although I loved it! Can You Roll Her rocks like a mad rocky rock thing! Natural Thing is probably the best known of the tracks. Lights Out - The band was big time now. Such a strong album. My second favourite after Force It. A band at their peak. Obsession - The last album before Schenker jumped ship. Another strong effort. So that's my view of things. I am sure a lot of you guys on that side of the pond will hold VH with equal affection - they are a rock institution after all, but with me it's a personal thing with UFO.
  18. If you do The Beatles, PLEASE do it by UK releases as that's the way the band intended their albums to be put out. Greed by Capitol records was responsible for them chopping up the albums to create more "product". What about the superior US release of Magical Mystery Tour? The Magical Mystery Tour US release was basically padded out to make an album with a bunch of singles bolted on. Again Capital records milking things. TBH MMT was more just a soundtrack to a BBC broadcast and is not really an album as such. But you've got to admit if you were going to count it as an album it would make more sense to count the US version, especially since the songs that got bolted onto are among The Beatles' best work and don't appear on other albums. Think about that. They released Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane BEFORE Sgt. Pepper. They did the same thing the next year with Lady Madonna/The Inner Light and Hey Jude/Revolution from the white album sessions. Unthinkable after the 60s to release songs of that caliber as stand alone singles. Why? If they are not part of an album concept then why should they be on it??? .... unless... it makes a few more bucks for the record label. Except SFF and PL were recorded as part of the Sgt. Pepper sessions. George Martin regretted releasing SSF and PL as a single. He said they belonged on Sgt. Pepper's. Including them would have strengthened the vague concept of the album. Also, "Rain" and "Paperback Writer" were not on Revolver and "Day Tripper" and "We Can Work It Out" were not on Rubber Soul. The 'no singles' rule strikes again!

Guess that's what they felt was right for them at that point in time.
