  1. 139. "Between Sun & Moon," Counterparts (1993) Counterparts - Entry 2 out of 11 Alex Lifeson really goes to town on Counterparts. That riff with tapping guitar is absolutely beautiful, along with a roaring bass; easily one of the best Alex tracks on this album, and even so within this Rush era. The chorus is quite daft, however. 141. “Roll the Bones” - 4/10, Roll the Bones (1991) 140. “Here Again” - 2/8, Rush (1974) 139. “Between Sun & Moon” - 2/11, Counterparts (1993)
  2. 140. "Here Again," Rush (1974) Rush - Entry 2 out of 8 The only ballad from the self-titled debut... and it goes on for seven and a half minutes, longer than "Working Man"; with "Working Man", you are always engaged with the band for every second, but this one could've easily been trimmed a few minutes shorter. Lifeson soars with the bluesy solos, though! 141. “Roll the Bones” - 4/10, Roll the Bones (1991) 140. “Here Again” - 2/8, Rush (1974)
  3. I'm not gonna lie, "Roll the Bones" might be one of the hardest songs for people to justify their "love" for.
  4. Great post! Lemme guess, "Finding My Way" is the other debut song that frees itself from your bottom 10? "The Color of Right" is one song I really want to get into a lot more, but I wasn't 'feeling it' as much while making the list. As far as spoilers go, "Tears" and "Stick It Out" are not gonna be seen for at least a little while... As for you, 1-0-0-1-0-0-1, I will never spoil "Second Nature"!
  5. 141. "Roll the Bones," Roll the Bones (1991) Roll the Bones - Entry 4 out of 10 The song would've cracked the top 100 for how interesting it is sonically and how cohesive it is to the album. However, that rap section where they rhyme "facts" with "gluteus max" has to be the most ill-advised moment in their careers. The rap was done by a skeleton! 141. “Roll The Bones” - 4/10, RTB
  6. Here's my list so far: 173. “Half The World” - 1/11 TFE 172. “Anagram (For Mongo)” - 1/11, PR 171. “Bravest Face” - 1/13, S&A 170. “Virtuality” - 2/11, TFE 169. “Dog Years” - 3/11, TFE 168. “Seven And Seven Is” - 1/8, FB 167. “BU2B2” - 1/12, CA 166. “Face Up” - 1/10, RTB 165. “Tai Shan” - 1/10, HYF 164. “Peaceable Kingdom” - 1/13, VT 163. “You Bet Your Life” - 2/10, RTB 162. “War Paint” - 2/11, PR 161. “For What It’s Worth” - 2/8, FB 160. “The Way The Wind Blows” - 2/13, S&A 159. “Neurotica” - 3/10, RTB 158. “Hand Over Fist” - 3/11, PR 157. “Spindrift” - 3/13, S&A 156. “Shapes Of Things” - 3/8, FB 155. “Out Of The Cradle” - 2/13, VT 154. “Rivendell” - 1/8, FBN 153. “Need Some Love” - 1/8, S/T 152. “The Color Of Right” - 4/11, TFE 151. “Mr. Soul” - 4/8, FB 150. “Hope” - 4/13, S&A 149. “Superconductor” - 4/11, PR 148. “Carve Away The Stone” - 5/11, TFE 147. “Madrigal” - 1/6, AFTK 146. “I Think I’m Going Bald” - 1/5, COS 145. “Crossroads” - 5/8, FB 144. “Available Light” - 5/11, PR 143. “Double Agent” - 1/11, CP 142. “Scars” - 6/11, PR
  7. You're a massive Presto fan, eh? Yikes... this list is not going to reflect yours very well....
  8. 142. "Scars," Presto (1989) Presto - Entry 6 out of 11 Wow, this song has a great bassline - and... it may not actually be bass at all? Definitely one of the few tracks from Presto that are actually kind of fun to listen to and don't come off as corny. It's a very fine song. 151. “Mr. Soul” - 4/8, FB 150. “Hope” - 4/13, S&A 149. “Superconductor” - 4/11, PR 148. “Carve Away The Stone” - 5/11, TFE 147. “Madrigal” - 1/6, AFTK 146. “I Think I’m Going Bald” - 1/5, COS 145. “Crossroads” - 5/8, FB 144. “Available Light” - 5/11, PR 143. “Double Agent” - 1/11, CP 142. “Scars” - 6/11, PR
  9. 143. "Double Agent," Counterparts (1993) Counterparts - Entry 1 out of 11 There are no "filler" or "throwaway" tracks from Counterparts, but this one is the closest fitting that. This is the only track on the album that feels gimmicky and doesn't work in comparison to some of the others used throughout the album; the "wound up so tiiiiiight" parts are easily my least favorite throughout the album. It has got a great intro though, and the song is pretty damn heavy. 151. “Mr. Soul” - 4/8, FB 150. “Hope” - 4/13, S&A 149. “Superconductor” - 4/11, PR 148. “Carve Away The Stone” - 5/11, TFE 147. “Madrigal” - 1/6, AFTK 146. “I Think I’m Going Bald” - 1/5, COS 145. “Crossroads” - 5/8, FB 144. “Available Light” - 5/11, PR 143. “Double Agent” - 1/11, CP
  10. 144. "Available Light," Presto (1989) Presto - Entry 5 out of 11 A very good and uplifting closer to Presto that doesn't really get swallowed in by the album's tinny production. This is even a rare instance where Geddy sings in falsetto - and it works very well! However, the song's structure is sort of weak, since it takes a while before anything really happens. 151. “Mr. Soul” - 4/8, FB 150. “Hope” - 4/13, S&A 149. “Superconductor” - 4/11, PR 148. “Carve Away The Stone” - 5/11, TFE 147. “Madrigal” - 1/6, AFTK 146. “I Think I’m Going Bald” - 1/5, COS 145. “Crossroads” - 5/8, FB 144. “Available Light” - 5/11, PR
  11. 145. "Crossroads," Feedback (2004) Feedback - Entry 5 out of 8 Don't mind me, just crossing out another song from Feedback. It's a decent cover for sure, and much more memorable than half of the covers that are on this EP. I would say this might be one of the more disappointing Lifeson riffs, and this track does much better live. 151. “Mr. Soul” - 4/8, FB 150. “Hope” - 4/13, S&A 149. “Superconductor” - 4/11, PR 148. “Carve Away The Stone” - 5/11, TFE 147. “Madrigal” - 1/6, AFTK 146. “I Think I’m Going Bald” - 1/5, COS 145. “Crossroads” - 5/8, FB
  12. 146. "I Think I'm Going Bald," Caress of Steel (1975) Caress of Steel - Entry 1 out of 5 Debatably the most "frustrating" song. For positives, there is no doubt that this song has a great riff. The last minute or so contains some of the best Lifeson soloing throughout the entire discography. But holy shit man, this was on a 5-track album, placed right after "Bastille Day," a song celebrating the French Revolution - now we are talking about losing your goddamn hair! The lyrics don't even help the placement that much either - "I walk down vanity fair/Memory lane everywhere/Wall Street shuffles there/Dressed in flowing hair." Ooooooof! 151. “Mr. Soul” - 4/8, FB 150. “Hope” - 4/13, S&A 149. “Superconductor” - 4/11, PR 148. “Carve Away The Stone” - 5/11, TFE 147. “Madrigal” - 1/6, AFTK 146. “I Think I’m Going Bald” - 1/5, COS
  13. 147. "Madrigal," A Farewell to Kings (1977) A Farewell to Kings - Entry 1 out of 6 I feel some heat coming my way. Welcome to the "worst" song from the best period of Rush, which is in my opinion 1976-1981. This is yet another dopey ballad from the earlier periods of Rush, another which makes the Side B of an album rough around the edges. It is shorter than "Rivendell," and there is a lot more going on - still, there is nothing very significant to write about this one when it exists on an album with "Xanadu" and "Cygnus X-1"; they're lucky to have "Closer to the Heart" on the same album. 151. “Mr. Soul” - 4/8, FB 150. “Hope” - 4/13, S&A 149. “Superconductor” - 4/11, PR 148. “Carve Away The Stone” - 5/11, TFE 147. “Madrigal” - 1/6, AFTK
  14. Would you guys like me to post more daily, or is one enough? What would be the limit?
  15. 148. "Carve Away the Stone," Test for Echo (1996) Test for Echo - Entry 5 out of 11 Another somewhat generic Test for Echo track that repeats the idea of "chip away the stone, roll away the stone" to come off as meaningful. It does serve as a great closer, though. However, let's not forget that bass and how Alex absolutely shreds on this one! Next take might be a nuclear one! 151. “Mr. Soul” - 4/8, FB 150. “Hope” - 4/13, S&A 149. “Superconductor” - 4/11, PR 148. “Carve Away The Stone” - 5/11, TFE
  16. 149. "Superconductor," Presto (1989) Presto - Entry 4 out of 11 A song that deals with celebrity stardom - hey, was this something that has already been touched in "Grand Designs," and much better? This was one of the only few charting songs on here (and of the three singles). With its repetitive "superconductor" chorus, it really showcases how generic overall Presto is of an album to me. 151. “Mr. Soul” - 4/8, FB 150. “Hope” - 4/13, S&A 149. “Superconductor” - 4/11, PR
  17. You're going to be even more disappointed...
  18. 150. "Hope," Snakes & Arrows (2007) Snakes & Arrows - Entry 4 out of 13 A cute little Alex solo on a twelve-string that seems to only serve as an interlude for "Faithless." I feel like I could've snuck this one up with "Faithless," otherwise this track is just there. 151. “Mr. Soul” - 4/8, FB 150. “Hope” - 4/13, S&A
  19. 151. "Mr. Soul," Feedback (2004) Feedback - Entry 4 out of 8 Well, here is the other Buffalo Springfield cover on this forgettable EP. Yeah, these covers sound like the B-sides to Vapor Trails singles or something. This one only just sounds a lot more clear and defined than the previous one. I promise you all that the list won't be all "safe" choices from here on out ;) 151. “Mr. Soul” - 4/8, FB
  20. Here is my list so far! Hope you all are enjoying it :) 173. “The Color Of Right” - 4/11, TFE
  21. 152. "The Color of Right," Test for Echo (1996) Test for Echo - Entry 4 out of 11 Oop, and we are back at it with the Test for Echo album! Though this one isn't as heavy as "Dog Years" or "Virtuality", its lyrics are not actually that bad. In fact, this is one I really want to like a lot more than I do, with lyrics like "Make it easy on yourself/There's nothing more you can do/You're so full of what is right/You can't see what is true." I think that it may be the chorus holding this one back for me too, with "Gravity and distance/Change the passage of light/Gravity and distance/Change the color of right," which feels a bit cornball to me. 161. “The Color Of Right” - 4/11, TFE
  22. 153. "Need Some Love," Rush (1974) Rush (Self-titled) - Entry 1 out of 8 One early Rush album I think you may have expected to see get slammed a bit on this list was the "we're almost there" album - though I wouldn't know if slamming is the correct word, because I like all songs on here. I strongly feel the weakest link on here is "Need Some Love," which is - let's all face it, way too similar to Zeppelin. A fun little song that gets you pumped up for what is ahead of the album, though it does clock under two and a half minutes - there isn't really anything standing out for this one, and it's the one track from this album I never really think about after listening to the album. Once again, good tune - nothing significant. 161. “Need Some Love” - 1/8, S/T
