  1. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Aug 26 2006, 09:35 AM) QUOTE (third hand grace @ Aug 26 2006, 07:39 AM) The best thing about them was the women at their concerts. for some reason they were extra hot and extra horny. Was it Paul Rodgers's looks that brought them in? It's Paul Rogers VOICE that brings 'em in. Perhaps the very best blue eyed soul voice in rock. My favorite example of it is a song I didn't see mentioned yet, Burning Sky.
  2. QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Aug 3 2006, 05:23 AM) http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a321/hemispheres2005/image13.jpg SON!! If it's that cheap nowdays I may have to take it back up! I don't even know if these makes exist any more, but which do you prefer; Apogee, or Graphix?
  3. 1. Mosquitoes have killed more people than any other animal. 2. Hippos are the most deadly African animal. 3. The Kodiak Grizzly is the largest (heaviest) land carnivore on the planet. 3b. Give me a Hippo over a Lion or Bear any day.
  4. QUOTE (Moonraker @ Mar 9 2006, 06:20 PM)QUOTE (rushgoober @ Mar 9 2006, 09:41 AM) QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Mar 9 2006, 08:45 AM) Even though I hate reality shows I'd check this one out once. Still, no amount of kick ass makeup will make one know what it's like to be another race. While that's true, there are things like a white man walking down the street and shopping where everyone thinks he's a black man and seeing how he's treated differently. Then there's a black man who dressed as a white man got a job as a bartender in a very white neighborhood and heard people talking about black people while they thought he was white. I think it will certainly give these people at least a sense of what it's like anyway, more so than just hearing people talk about race. It's definitely a pretty radical concept anyway... A concept that Eddie Murphy originally thought up for SNL over 20 years ago, lol. Seriously though, it is actually a good idea for a show, and an interesting direction, but I kinda feel that they are overdramatizing the cultural divide between blacks and whites, especially with so many other minorities on the rise. Then again that could just be my reaction from living in San Francisco, where ethnic culture is so much more diverse then most other regions of the US. I'm pretty sure 'Watermelon Man" got to it before Eddie Murphy. I'm interested to see if the white folks made up to be black will hear white folks being talked about by the black folks. Works both ways you know, though I somehow doubt that would make it to the screen.
  5. Got the NCAA BB tournaments on the tele. Sound is down though and Hemispheres playing. Think I'll run through the '70s Floyd next.
  6. I had a dream of a winter garden a midnight rendezvous silver, blue and frozen silence what a fool I was for you I had a dream of the open water I was swimming away out to sea so deep I could never touch bottom what a fool I used to be if I could wave my magic wand I'd set everybody free

  8. Some great ones mentioned here...but lets not forget John Carpenter's 'The Thing' , and I think 'Forbidden Planet' was way ahead of it's time.
  9. Jaws was the only movie that really terrified me as a kid. Gave me nightmares and the whole bit. The only scary movie that approaches it for me is John Carpenter's The Thing.
  10. I hear by call to order this meeting of the society for putting things on top of other things.
  11. And in Tejas, he ain't even considered a bad-ass!!
  12. Dang, you guys hear everything!! After two hours of reading posts the only other thing I can think of is Alex's volume swells at the beginning of Xanandu, which never fail to freak me out, and I believe he uses the same effect in LVS. Also, the harmonics Alex hits in the intro to RB are just sublime. And I love Ged's patented Hey!! In the first break of Earthshine on R-30. Oh yeah, also on R-30 when Alex grabs Ged's nose at the end of The Seeker and tweaks it to the sound of his guitar!
  13. QUOTE (softfilter @ Jan 18 2006, 02:44 AM) I like it also ,didn't Neal had a hangover when he wrote this? Read that somewhere maybe from contents under pressure. I don't remember which interview it was but Neil did say something about one of the guy's bringing along something to celebrate the big reunion with, and that he joined in despite having reservations. I always assumed it was something to smoke, "one sniff of the hydrant", or maybe to snort? Anyway it seems to me he's comparing people to dogs in a way that is not exactly complimentary to the people, including himself of course. I think it's a typically brilliant commentary on the human condition. Perhaps not his most flowing lyrics, but among his most biting. Musically what more could you ask for? Great power chords and rhythm from Al. Terrific groove on drums and bass, and Ged gets in the spirit of the song with his howling vocal stylings. As a return to a more hard-edged style (which I love) I think TFE overall quite outstanding! I guess there's just no pleasing some folks.
  14. The longevity of this thread as well as the length of the postings are a tribute to the great influence and impact of PF. To me, like a lot of the great English bands, their early work is eclipsed by what some would consider their more commercial later stuff. A lot of the early PF material is very artistic and expressive instrumental stuff that many might consider boring and others consider brilliant, but a lot of it is quite late '60s MOD with a bit of psychedelic thrown in. (Arnold Layne, Candy and a Currant Bun, See Emily Play, Apples and Oranges, etc.) IMHO Pink Floyd's golden age began with DSotM and ended with TW. It ain't PF without RW and it ain't PF without DG! Of course it is PF without DG but just for a bit. Oh that's not what I mean at all. What I mean is... uh... it's not PF without Syd's direction and influence, and it's not PF without DG's amazingly emotional guitar and vocals. Yea, that's it! I think. Anyway, the important thing is that we share our love for this awesome band. And of course I share every ones emotion at the awesome reunion recently. I'm afraid any hope of a tour is out of the question though. At least we can look forward to more !!!
  15. The Ballad of Brave Sir Robin Bravely bold Sir Robin rode forth from Camelot, He was not afraid to die, O brave Sir Robin! He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways, Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin! He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp, Or to have his eyes gouged out, and his elbows broken; To have his kneecaps split; and his body burned away; And his limbs all hacked and mangled, brave Sir Robin! His head smashed in and his heart cut out And his liver removed and bowels unplugged And his nostrils raped and his bottom burned off And his pen-- (Stop!) Bravely ran away, away! When danger reared its ugly head, He bravely turned his tail and fled. (I did not) Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about And gallantly he chickened out. (I never!) Bravely taking to his feet He beat a very brave retreat, (No!) Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin! He is packing it in and packing it up And sneaking away and buggering up And chickening out and pissing off home, Yes, bravely he is throwing in the sponge... Enjoy your bravery!!
  16. The Camera Eye is probably the best, but RB is my favorite.
  17. (In high pitched drag falsetto) "OH!! Mrs. Niggerbaiters exploded!!"
  18. You go through these threads and just when you think you've got one that hasn't been thought of, it's in the next post! I think these have been neglected: The Monterrey Pop Festival, and Monty Python Live at City Center. Oh come on; it's got "The Lumberjack Song" and "Spam!" Oh, and maybe "The Philosophers Song" as well. Too bad it was before "Always look on the bright side of life" and "Every sperm is sacred."
  19. Thank you so much for posting this GhostGirl. Everything I've read on the subject indicates a direct link between mercury in inoculations and these types of disorders. It seems that when multiple inoculations are injected at one time that the risk is much greater and that the younger the child the greater the risk. There is also a direct link between these injections and cancer. Please continue to get the word out in any way possible. This is just the tip of the iceberg concerning how corporate "health care" preys upon a trusting and unknowing public. There is no illness that is caused by the lack of a pharmaceutical chemical!!! There is much more money to be made by prolonging peoples illness than by keeping them healthy!!! God has provided everything we need to be healthy if we just educate ourselves on what we need and what to avoid. ( My people perish for lack of knowledge) My prayers and I'm sure those of many others are with you and your child GhostGirl. Please consider nutrition as a first-line therapy.
  20. It's just the right amount of vomit to perfectly describe both the idiotic television shows and the dumbed-down, mind-numbed lemming slaves that find them entertaining. Stand by lemmings!! If you think that's vomit inducing, wait 'till you're plummeting over the cliff without possibility of rescue. Coming this spring to a neighborhood near you.
  21. You guys are way too educated!! Are you forgetting that most folks on this site are from Canada? A serious upgrade from Tejas where I'm at BTW.
  22. The Shining is without question SK's best movie ever, despite Nicholson's somewhat overdoing it. Delores Claiborne is my pick for second. If I have to explain why forget it ... watch The Stand and shut up. Having said that, The Stand is SK's best book, and I would put The Talisman as SK's second best not forgetting that other guy who wrote all that excess crap; where was the editor??? The Children of the Corn was another great book that became a mediocre movie. If only Hollywood was up to the task of putting such great work to film.
