  1. I was really bummed out that there wasn't a video for Take Off.
  2. Finally streamed it last night. I'd been wanting to see it ever since I saw the trailers, because it looked so much like a story idea I had that was inspired by Subdivisions, believe it or not.
  3. I`ve bought a Wacom Cintiq 16 (to be delivered tomorrow)... hope I can get on with it! I`ve joined Pinterest too. Wow, some serious inspiration there!!! Cintiqs are a real game changer. I use a Surface Studio, and while I miss the tactile aspect of traditional drawing, you can't beat digital for making adjustments and fixing mistakes. In the future I may do all my sketches on paper, then scan and refine them digitally. I use Clip Stdio Paint for drawing, what do you plan to use? I'm Luckypockets on Pinterest, if you shoot me a PM and I'll invite you to the private board for the Rush project.
  4. So what? Every rock singer is mimicking blues singers. Steve Perry acknowledges an influence so it lessens his talent? Nope. Just makes it harder for me to listen to, personally.
  5. I used to really like Steve Perry, but every time I heard or read an interview with him, he would invariably mention Sam Cooke, whom I was not familiar with, as he died before I was born and I didn't listen to oldies. Eventually I heard some Sam Cooke songs, and ever since then when I hear Steve Perry all I can hear is a guy doing a Sam Cooke impression. Long story short, Brad Delp.
  6. Someone's already making a clay maquette. Nice work, but I really hope they don't go through with this statue idea. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundland-labrador/morgan-macdonald-statue-neil-peart-1.5634222?__vfz=medium%3Dsharebar
  7. 1: First Rush Album You Bought? Exit Stage Left 2: The Rush Album That Got You Hooked? I was already hooked 3: First Rush Studio Album You Bought? Permanent Waves 4: First Rush Live Album You Bought? Exit Stage Left 5: First Rush Compilation You Bought? Never did. 6: First Rush Studio Album You Bought On Release Day? Vapor Trails 7: First Rush Bootleg That Blew You Away? Never did.
  8. Volkswagen California. It really is a dream, because it's not available in the US.
  9. Those are very good. I can see how that technique would work better for cover art than interior, though. I haven't yet decided whether do the Rush project digital or traditional, or some kind of hybrid. Digital is way faster, but trad is a lot more enjoyable. Feels less like work.
  10. Hi. Did you get anywhere with this? I have tonnes of art stuff (paper, supplies etc.) and a load of comic books that I draw from. Always light on the original inspiration side though. I had all my art on my facebook page but I left FB a couple of years ago so now it`s just all bundled together invisibly in a folder, which is pretty sad when I think how much time I took to create it all! Happy to exchange ideas! Awesome. I'm still in the process of gathering images, I don't want to start drawing until I've finished my current comic (link in my profile, if you're interested) which should happen in August or September. If you have a Pinterest account, I can share my private board where I keep stuff. I don`t have a Pinterest account, but I looked at your current stuff - great, great work! I`d love to see what you do with Rush, and I love how you`ve structured your stories and the character`s speech, to move things on etc., I`m not really good at that. Some chapter titles look Rush-inspired too I can see that I massively overcomplicate the entire concept of comics as I try and make every frame look like a Lee Bermejo or Alex Ross cover so it`s not surprising I lose heart. I should stick to Herge principles. I would love to make a large graphic novel that was just one masterpiece after another and it`s totally ridiculous, especially when I don`t have a story!! Thanks! I know what you mean about making things too complicated, one of the reasons this project took me so long was because I chose such an elaborate, almost cinematic style for it. The Rush project is going to have a simpler, graphic look, kind of like what Matt Smith did with Folklords. I may also do it in black and white with just a color plate at the beginning of each chapter. Do you have an online portfolio?

  12. How was it? I've been eyeing this one... To be honest, it didn't do much for me. Generally I like dark and creepy movies, but in order to draw me in there has to be at least one somewhat sympathetic character. Both of the guys in this movie were such jerks I didn't care what happened to them.
