  1. Much of the pre Permanent Waves catalogue is obviously beyond Geddy's current vocal capabilities. That's not his fault, it's just a function of age. What I don't understand though is why they don't try some of the older classics in the original key, but with the vocal an octave lower. I think this could suit Geddy's current register and could provide an interesting take on the older songs; surely this would be better than doing the older songs a couple of tones lower (which frankly he still struggles with). That's what I'd like to hear on the next tour - some of the old tunes in the original key with vocals dropped an octave.
  2. Thanks Cygnus...as a recent returnee to Rush this is the first new release I've been part of the anticipation of since 1982. Made me feel 16 again man! Sounds ok too, but all great Rush needs grow time.
  3. Love the song, love the album. Rush "progressiveness" (if there is such a word) at it's best, coupled with a great sens of humour. The best albums are the ones that take a bit of getting into.

  6. The one for me is Alex's solo riff in Xanadu that starts about 3:35. It's been said before, but Freewill's "Each of us...a cell of awareness...imperfect and incomplete...genetic blends with uncertain ends...on a fortune hunt that's far too fleet" sends a shiver down my spine and comes a close second (following a great guitar solo). Oh, and the soaring guitar that starts about 1:52 in Leave That Thing Alone.
