  1. QUOTE (Moonraker @ Nov 1 2004, 11:13 AM) War Games? Remember, this is a cop movie. I also said that this wasn't your normal cop movie, and that is because -- here's another hint -- a piece of hardware was as much a star of this film as any actor.
  2. QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Nov 1 2004, 09:10 AM) Tango and Cash?
  3. QUOTE (Moonraker @ Oct 31 2004, 11:00 PM) Big Trouble In Little China? The movie took place in the U.S. (west coast).
  4. Any guesses? This movie isn't that obscure! Another hint: It was made in the 1980s.
  5. QUOTE (Slaine mac Roth @ Oct 30 2004, 07:44 AM)The fact is that directors at that time did not have the technology, nor the resources (most 'horror' films were considered 'b-movies' and, correspondingly, had lower budgets) so were forced to find alternatives. Hence they understood atmosphere better than a lot of today's directors. This resulted in their films being frightening in a more subtle way - causing the viewer to be unsettled rather than shocked/repulsed by the images on the screen. That reminds me of Hitchcock's definition of suspense: There is a bomb under the table and it explodes -- that is surprise. There is a bomb under the table and it doesn't explode -- that is suspense. "Jaws" worked much the same way because the mechanical shark didn't function properly. Not having a working shark forced Spielberg to use more POV shots and John Williams' tense music to let you know where the fish was. And later in the movie, instead of seeing the shark, you saw the yellow barrels that the shark was supposedly dragging around. What you don't see is often scarier than what you do see.
  6. Anybody remember 1979's "When A Stranger Calls?" I saw it in the theater as a kid and remember being scared silly. I haven't seen it since and wonder if it still holds up as a good, scary movie.
  7. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Oct 17 2004, 11:15 PM) Cop A: "I've been trying to get you all night. Why don't you answer your f***ing beeper?" Cop B: "I just want to tell you, that the next time I'm suspended, so is my F***ING BEEPER!" That was the first quote. Here's another one from the same movie: "Well Colonel, one of your missiles just took out a barbeque shack down in Little Tokyo."
  8. QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Oct 28 2004, 07:40 PM) Very cool...i've been hearing rumors of a "Prequel" of sorts for a few years now...now who do you think should play the role of the younger Lector? Anthony Hopkins with a week's worth of Botox...
  9. QUOTE (Digital Man @ Oct 27 2004, 01:27 PM) One of the Die Hard movies with Bruce Willis And you would've had to pick one of the three, you slacker!
  10. QUOTE (Moonraker @ Oct 27 2004, 01:37 AM) QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Oct 26 2004, 04:49 PM) -The lead star was also a lead in the of the biggest blockbusters of all time. That is purely subjective. No, it's a fact. When you see who it is it will make sense.
  11. More clues: -This movie was made between 1975 and 1990. -The lead star was also a lead in the of the biggest blockbusters of all time. -The director also directed one of the most popular movies of the past 30 years. -The bad guy is English.

A hint? Both??? A hint, please. This movie was made after 1960 and before 1990. And while this is a cop film, it's not your typical cop film. Kindergarden Cop It's not a comedy or farce.

  17. R30...Loved the opening medley, the set list (including "Between The Wheels," "Red Barchetta" and "Subdivisions"), the new movie clips, and because I met some cool board people! And of course there's the Radio City Music Hall show where they sounded flawless, and I got to spend time in NYC with some great people that day.

  24. If you want a gritty, GRITTY cop film with raw camera work and gut-wrenching drama and ballsy acting, see "Narc" with Ray Liotta and Jason Patric. The opening chase scene is jaw dropping. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00008YJDK.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
