    Archer

Ohh man it's been way to long since I've seen Archer.. :( Frisky Dingo's awesome too, that Adam Red, man he does such hilarious stuff :D
  2. XD Just eat the pennies Billy, so you poop pennies!! I've been catching up on Adultswim.com (yay for finally letting us Canucks watch the videos on the site! :D ) man what a great season ^_^ Envy loves him some Venture Bros.
  3. QUOTE (Godot @ Jul 7 2012, 04:50 AM) I was an attendee at Bronycon. Once again I see nothing but baseless bashing against the community coming from some person who has too much of a personal bias against it to actually have an opinion I can validate. Everyone there was the nicest person I've ever met. You could literally walk up to someone and become instant friends. The convention was fully of a great energy as many celebrities (from the show and the community) all came together and just had fun with everybody else. It was especially heartwarming to see so many people meet for the first time, especially artists who had collaborated together through the web but had never met in person before. Honestly I'd take Bronycon over a Rush concert any day (and don't question my fanhood to Rush) Aww dude, you were there too!!!?? Man, so wishing I had been in here before I left! I had my guitar out for Friday and pretty much all of Saturday jamming away on MLP songs and Rush, only found about a handful of Rush fans in the mix, mostly the music went awry. I found one on Sunday night too, during the Canadian Brony tokyo buffet, sitting right next to me of all places, yay . But I have to agree, it was the most friendly bunch of people than I have been around in my life! Mind you, so far the Rush peoples I that I have met from the Rush-tour groups I've been to over the past 6 years have been equally as friendly. Some who even went as far as to get me a birthday cake and stein of beer too!! Or offer to wait with my wounded truck on the side of the road while I went to the show, "no, we are making it to this show!" *pulls out truck repair kit XD As an aside, gah what's up with this thread!!??! So much hatred popping up. Must use my favorite line in the world my mother gave me: "if you ain't got nothing nice to say, don't say it at all." Also, destroying Rush's image? Um, these were the same guys who do all sorts of goofy things on stage right?? Dryers, Spongebob on Neil's riser, Barbie dolls in front of Lerxst, a parrot on Ged's shoulder.. I doubt the addition of anything Poneh into their show will bring them down. At this point I think they would gain another couple 1000 fans if they threw up pony likeness of themselves. And back tracking through the thread, Venture Brothers, yesh!! One of my other favorite cartoons! I can't wait for Season 5 (if I ever get to catch them, damn Canada, usually can find them on Adult Swim.co.uk) And as aside aside aside, I also enjoy Archer, ATHF, and various other Adult Swim programming. Just because I now have a seemingly zombie addiction to ponies, doesn't change that I've got Alex Lifeson's guitar, Geddy Lee's bass, 20 Rush shows under my belt, 6 more lined up, and Rushcon too. But I will leave with I do think it's really funny that my first con of anything was for MLP before Rush, bows head in shame. XD hehe Man I'm so crazy! Heh, Fluttershy and the bear, such a mortal combat scene! Also, so how'd everyone like the latest Friendship is Witchcraft, 5 against 1 or bomb voyage! Or the train gag, such a Seth McFarlane thing.

    Tai Shan

After watching the interview, I can see where Ged & Alex would get that idea from. The whole HyF album was an interesting album. I'm glad they have pulled a song from it for the last buncha tours; Time Stand Still, Mission, Force Ten. For me some of those songs were the highlights of the shows I saw, okay mostly Mission... But I always get a big kick when they pull out some cool random stuff that isn't too mainstream. I'm biased though, there's no 'bad' Rush song for me, nothing.... XD
  5. Will be buying it on the 12th, especially if that fan package I ordered does not come in. Also I'm eager for the livestream of the album, that'll be fun no doubt. I'm not even bothering with any of the 'preview tracks' to spoil it for me. I completely forgot about the release date for the new Big Wreck cd Albatross in March. I picked it up the day of and listening to it in the truck (my best sound system) man it was an absolute joy! My logic behind Clockwork Angels cd this time is similar, because I downloaded a rip of SnA back in 07. It was fun to post comments with folks who also listened to the whole album before its release. But I really do enjoy getting it the day of the release and hearing it from a better quality media, physically holding it my hands too reading the liner, er, cd booklet... It's only a week, I can wait that long no problem. Waited 8 hours for the Sarnia show to be 2nd row in front of Alex, I can wait for this.
  6. It has slowly been growing on me. The very first listen on the 19th for me, right after Ged's opening bass lines, my first thought in my head was "What is this jumbled mess." But the second listen, and subsequent listens, I've tried focusing in on individual guitar bits or bass lines, and it has started to make a bit more sense. I initially found the sound to be quite rough, at least on the version I was hearing, then I realized I could hit 720p and that made an improvement. The official RushTV channel seems to have the cleanest version so far, but it still has a bit of digitalness to it, or something along that line. It's not their playing by any stretch, my gawd they are so hot and tight right now. I also set my sound card to 'karaoke' mode, that took out Ged's vocals and makes some behind sounds more pronounced, that made for an interesting listen. So while I'm still not 100% on it still, it is a good piece of music. But I am just loving that mid Neil Peart drum solo, that is just awesome! Caravan and BU2B took less time for me to get into, but I think I had a similar initial reaction to them, and now they are among my favorite songs, especially BU2B.
  7. QUOTE (priest_of_syrinx @ Apr 21 2012, 02:21 PM)Season 2 finale was awesome!!!! Anyone else see it? That was a great finale. I'm glad they grouped both episodes into an hour block. Couldn't imagine how that cliffhanger the first part left if it had been a week's wait to finish it off. The whole 'Twilight has a brother' kind of came out of left field; we're on episode 51 of whole series, oh wait, Twilight also has a brother . Ah well, I thought the story as a whole was pretty nice and tight. Interesting that Meghan McCarthy has written some of my favorites: Lesson Zero, Sweet and Elite, Hearts and Hooves day, Party of One and Dragonshy. I have to agree with another comment I read somewhere on the internet that the resolution of the evil queen is rather quick from the build-up of the whole story. But I figure time might have been an issue maybe. Personally I've missed seeing some of that darkness/magical/fantasy packed-ness that the previous episodes, Marzipan Mascarpone Meringue and Ponyville Confidential and maybe even beyond that, had been lacking. Don't get me wrong, I still do love all the various forms of comedy stuck in from physical door gags to references of other shows/films (loved the Dudley Do Right spin-off), but previous episodes seemed to be stuck in a lighter mood. So I was happy to see a little bit of heavy/darker mood come back into play, what better than for the finale too! The first time watching on the live stream I almost thought it was even too heavy, "this is a children's show!??!" and I still think that thought, especially for this second season. That second song, the interplay between good and evil is pretty well done. Awesome singer on that one too. Smile, smile, smile is my favorite, most people know me as Smiley after all! After landing on this bandwagon since January though, I would not expect anything less from Danial Ingram/William Anderson now. I was a bit bummed Celestia was defeated so fast, think I missed that 'love has made me strong than anything' speech. So I might blame myself on that one. Heh, Frisky Dingo comes to mind on that one; Celestia's first on screen battle: "i know like, drag it out some more." Missed a bunch of details on the stream, so watching it on youtube in 720 I finally got to see some cool details. Twilight grabbing dat smarty pants doll, a teddy-bear on her bed too 0_o. Those snake eyes were awesome! The whole underground reflection sequence was extremely well done too. The crowd ponies in the wide pan wedding scene, so much detail, repeats abound but nevertheless.
  8. Applejack!!!?! Well I can see how it chose that based on my response, but I'm a complete nut just like Pinkie Pie. I mean c'mon, I had a rubber chicken with me to wave around just for Leave that Thing Alone and 2112 during the whole Time Machine Tour. 2010 for me was tour of the chicken. heh The Flim and Flam bros. bring back memories of Phil Hartman doing the monorail song on Simpsons. And the squeezy cider machine had a lil' Chitty Chatty Bang Bang to it too. A good episode, but I found last week's had me chuckling a little bit more. Chimmi-Cherry-Changa Aaaaand, my brain got another idea in it (and you know what that means). I give you,
  9. Kumquat.. Poor Rarity at the end, what agreat episode... and to think I'm still catching up on them too!!!
  10. QUOTE (priest_of_syrinx @ Jan 18 2012, 05:09 PM) QUOTE (Enviro_tech @ Jan 17 2012, 11:40 PM)True on that... very glad I found this show. Soooo, it's done! A few late hours and lots laughs along the way.... I think Pinkie Pie has usurped sweet Fluttershy as my favorite now. So many hours of editing pinkness PMV - Pinkie Pie Is A Wild Party (a little fun with Kim Mitchell's I Am A Wild Party) Awesome! I know I've already posted this in this thread, but just in case you didn't see it, my favorite PMV is Pink Party Pony Pandemonium Holy crap that was an awesome lot of Pinkie i such a short while.. Cool!

  12. So true, they have been getting better each episode. I'm trying to stick to the order of release but it is tough.. Especially since I've caught the PMV bug, hehe.. Seeing as Rush already has a good showing, the only one I thought could possibly fit in so well; Pinkie is a wild party Man it's coming along soooo great!
  13. I saw Burlington based 2112, seen here http://2112.ca/main.html , at the Burlington Sound of Music Festival a few years back.. Wicked awesome drum set up, it was the full kit, every nut, bone, stick, cymbals, it was amazing.. The guy could play just like Neil too! The bass player was Geddy, he did the singing, the keys, pedals, the whole 9 yards. Was a real treat to watch him at work. The guitarist, I want to say it wasn't the original guitarist I think, but I may be totally wrong on that, he was pretty good. He had good guitar skills, I just wasn't a fan of the guitar tone he had, it sounded a bit too synthetic to my ears. The drums were also poorly mic'd, but I think that's what you expect with an outdoor show and probably very little set up time for such a huge kit. So I looked past most of the flaws in sound aspects. I felt kinda bad for the guys, there were only a handful of Rush fans, most were there for the next act an AC/DC cover band, who didn't appreciate Rush as much as a Rush fan like myself did. Overall it was enjoyable watching a Rush cover band, I thought they did a great job, but just wish the crowd had been a lil more appreciative. I guess the Classic Albums Live series might fall under Rush 'cover' bands, maybe?? They plugged it as "note for note cut for cut", they did deliver. 2112 was absolutely amazing, the drummer broke the snare at the end of Overture, he had to install the spare before Temples. The main guitarist, Dave Barrett, he had Alex's actual 355 and EDS-1275 doubleneck, the latter he still has on loan from Alex for his work with DB3. I got to play that doubleneck last month as part of a Rocket Hub exchange, a very cool guitar. Although it's hard to see the six string neck. It took me a while to get used to the 'neck change' switch. As Alex said he doesn't like the weight, after I put it down and picked up my trusty go to Godin, I was picking up air pretty much. I digress... The bassist had a Rickenbacker, I remember thinking that was the coolest thing ever, and the singer, while he gave it a great shot at getting to Geddy's hi pitch, I thought he fell a little short. There were also two other back-up guitarists providing extra guitars in the songs. Very tight players, it was Rush through and through! Now, Moving Pictures was the second CAL show I saw, had some problems. The sound was ear piercing loud, to the point of reading comments later that many people asked the sound guy to turn it down. The PA must have reached overload, the left hand side went out. For Vital Signs there was a problem with the synthesizer, unfortunately they didn't get it fixed. But, it was mostly the same musicians again, so very tight performances. This time, the vocalist didn't try to nail Geddy and I felt he did a much better job singing in his own range. There was a lack of Alex's real gear on stage, but that didn't matter one bit. And the encore Rush montage of songs, oh big highlight of the night. Still wish they did Rush CAL a few more times.
  14. Okay timeline for me... Wednesday: looking up Frisky Dingo clips, I come across this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocWtAzp-FaY...=5&feature=plcp I think to myself, what am I watching, this is great coloring/artistic value, great synching from the show, someone else a FD fan too, what else does this guy have??? Thursday: Hey this guy has PMV of E.L.O. 'Mr Blue Sky', Elvis, Billy Squire, ATHF Steve and Dr. Weird..... Okay what show is this that seems to have been under the radar for me.. Wait a minute, Seinfeld too! A buncha crazy fan made videos, then, man it's time to get to bed! Friday: 3 episodes in, especially after watching "Why My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is so good and why you should give it a chance" and "Ballad of the Brony: A Documentary" Ah things starting to make sense on the origins of this new fandom. More crazy fan made videos, then, man it's time to get to bed again! Today: Another 5 episodes and now Alex on my desktop has some company. Also loving those PMV Rush videos. man those lil' things are just so cute. But an aside of my thoughts on the last, ooh, 96 hours.. I think it's the nice light hearted comedy that has drawn me into this.. It's not ATHF, Family Guy, American Dad, Simpsons, KoTH, Venture Brothers, Harvey Birdman, Frisky Dingo, (dare I add Robot Chicken too) anything else I normally watch, cartoon format only. It's something completely different. I find the character growth/storyline amazing in this show. Everything about the show is top notch. I have to find it funny on how many things I have stumbled upon and how circumstances have led me to epiphanies of sorts. College 7 years ago I somehow found Strong Bad emails, man what a weird ride that was! Good times all around. I don't think I would have got into the Venture Brothers had it not been for an accidental click on a link at AdultSwim.co.uk.. Heh, and I thought it was just a really bad parody of Johnny Quest, and Johnny Quest only. The band Thornley too! Summer of 2004, 'So Far So Good' played endlessly on the radio to the point of overvaluing the song and band. Just for a whim I decided to check the band out "If the song is played so much on the radio, they must be good..." Man, what a regret it was to not delve into them sooner. AT 10 shows, they are half way up the rung on my Rush show list! So it only makes sense I find the magic of friendship in ponies after looking for something completely different. heh heh.. Well, I guess I'm slowly (quickly?) becoming a convert now to something new (for me at least) and big. Back to more episodes for me though I'm still not even half way thru season 1. That fan made stuff is just sooo funny.
  15. amazing, that was a great night, and it brings me back thru the whole tour and all 10 shows I was lucky enough to see. What an awesome Rush tour it was this time around! Thanks sooo much for uploading these, no VH1 in Canada isn't fun at all. Looking forward to the DVD now.
  16. I like Geddy's bass solo in that one, wishing they had kept it around longer..
  17. QUOTE (trenken @ May 18 2011, 02:34 PM)Its overkill for me. I didnt buy the last couple. I remember waiting years for the next live rush album/video, and I loved that. Now its just standard issue every tour. I didnt even bother to netflix the S&A one. I have to agree with it's overkill too. Didn't Geddy speak of them wanting to do something for Rush In Rio, I mean the crowd was amazing that night, and it's still a really cool live DVD. But, it lost it's "magicalness" on me for when they released something for R30, and then SnA too. Of course, I was at the Cleveland show for the taping as part of my 4 pack of shows for this leg, and most likely I will continue to buy anything and everything they release. They seemed to have a good system of a live album every 4-5 albums or so, or a live video every decade. I know they are going a few years between tours now, but still, it does seem like they are pumping stuff out quite rapidly. Although I read Alex saying in an interview recently, something along the line of 'we can't ride the crest of this wave of popularity forever,' and obviously that's true too. I guess I'm agreeing to disagree with my thought on the subject, it's not as magical as it once was, but I'll keep on giving them my money
  18. My mom gets anxiety disorder during concerts and sporting events. Usually happens in the far up high 200 or 300 level sections, but it has even happened in a small theater at Stratford Festival and movie theatres. She has found out now, about half of a gravol works to calm everything down and I've got her a set of ear filters. No more issues at all for concerts.
  19. They got albums up now for this! Teddy for Geddy http://www.y108.ca/Fun/Photos/Photos.aspx?AlbumID=113232 Crush your stuff for http://www.y108.ca/Fun/Photos/Photos.aspx?AlbumID=113316
  20. QUOTE (1 of the 7 @ Apr 23 2011, 04:28 PM) I wish he'd have mentioned what the switch does that's labeled "No Idiot Stop" at :50, 'cause it sounds hilarious I think it's either a panic kill switch for all effects, or a mute button... Just in case there's another ACC 2010 that happens, with endless feedback.
  21. QUOTE (ctsmith88 @ Apr 23 2011, 06:20 PM) QUOTE (Enviro_tech @ Apr 22 2011, 01:30 AM) I think I see Sarnia Bayfest from behind Neil shot in there!! Dang, nope, Sarnia had all the "food booths" directly behind and inline with the front of house area, cause the whole park was split in two, alcoholic side and non alcoholic side... I'm pretty sure that it's Ottawa Bluesfest. I can see the red Rogers banners and tents. I also see the Rush flag on the hockey stick right above Alex's head. My wife and I would be a few rows back and to the right of it. Yeah I thought it was for a moment... But as I wrote Sarnia had their food/drink booths directly behind the sound and light booth, so as to not give fans a bad view for one, and two the park is divided into alcoholic side and non alcoholic side.. Surprised there aren't any Quebec Plains of Abraham shots in there, that was a big crowd. I'm glad I finally made the John Arrowsmith reel, big time too, holding the ALEX letters in Hamilton..
  22. That's a cool video, between that and the new one with his tech Appleton, explains quite a lot. Looks like an intimidating rig but actually not too complex, I've seen a lot bigger. I'm always proud/glad that Alex triggers and hits everything with his own two feet, Geddy and Neil too. Mind you, Neil needs Gump to change out the patches for his drum pads and Jack Secret changes out the patches for the synths for Ged and Al. But I see other 'pro' guitarists out there and their roadies do all their foot work for them. If you've got some free time, this channel has a lot of great gear rundowns for other artists: http://www.youtube.com/user/jimdunlopusa
  23. QUOTE (barney_rebel @ Apr 21 2011, 09:03 AM) We ran 2km back to our car from the venue.... We got soaked. Yeah that storm was insane, I was up late getting my truck packed up for work in the rain. Not fun. Why won't winter leave us be?
