  1. Just arrived on the thread!! As much as I love Rush, Zeppelin take the vote.To be honest, in my opinion these Zeppelin albums are the best first 6 than any other band who have ever existed. For me pretty predictable. Sorry!! If I may paraphrase - to be honest, in my opinion Van Halen`s albums are the best first 6 than any other band who have ever existed. hehehe ... not even close! I have to agree although I like Van Halen quite a lot. But I think many rock fans tend to overrate their classic (Roth-era) discography. I'd say that Van Halen made two great albums: the debut and Fair Warning, two very good but not great: VH II and Women and Children First, I find 1984 to be average at best and Diver Down below average. These bands have a superior string of first 6 abums than Van Halen: Led Zeppelin Black Sabbath Iron Maiden Queen I would add Steely Dan too.

  4. It's mediocre, but not that bad.
  5. I know in a general LZ vs. Rush poll Rush was an easy winner. But let's see which group of 6 albums would win here? In my book: 1) LZ I >>>>>> Rush 2) LZ II >>> Fly by Night 3) LZ III >> Caress of Steel 4) ZOSO >> 2112 5) HOTH < A Farewell to Kings 6) Hemispheres = Physical Graffiti So Zep get my vote, hands down. What would you say?
  6. I would add Joy Division and Pixies. They deserve induction too. When it comes to prominent jazz guys John Coltrane should be in HOF too. Miles Davis was inducted in 2006.
  7. The Maiden snub is kind of glaring. Fela Kuti finished 2nd because of an orchestrated campaign online in Nigeria, and I would bet most people had never heard of him otherwise. The other 4 top 5 finishers made it in, and Carole King and Todd Rundgren got in, even though they didn't finish in the top 5. Personally, I think the Foo Fighters are a decent band, but there's nothing unusual or special about them. Why them but not Foreigner? Or Stone Temple Pilots? Soundgarden? The list of "great bands who were really popular," who aren't in is pretty expansive. Foreigner's not in???? I can understand an anti-grunge bias (seeing as they already have an anti-metal and anti-prog bias), but what in the heck would possibly prevent Foreigner from being in? Hot Blooded, I Want To Know What Love Is, Cold As Ice? These are standards of their era, and they have more of them. I didn't even mention Foreigner 4! That's blasphemy. Boston is also not in HOF. Their debut was one of the most successful rock albums in the USA.
  8. Iron Maiden didn't make it despite being the fourth voted by fans. Crap. Guys in RnRHoF are total cretins.
  9. 1. Permanent Waves 2. Hemispheres 3. A Farewell to Kings 4. Moving Pictures 5. 2112 Not currently but always.
  10. What would you say? Is that intro their "own" unique thing or do you hear an influence of some other band?
  11. "Blues and Roots" is my go to Mingus album It's very good, but I much prefer Black Saint and Mingus Ah Um.
