  1. No that was Rick Astley (QOTSA were very good though).
  2. I don't think I can vote in this one The first Rush LP I owned was 2112, I quickly became obsessed with it. However I then purchased their new release, Power Windows. It was like I'd poured ketchup over a favourite dessert. However after some perseverance I grew to love it and soon everything in between. I reckon if I could entertain such radically different albums I wouldn't have had an issue being bitten by the bug, no matter the starting point into the band.
  3. Most bands weren't as precise as Rush which must have helped too! Would love to see more of the footage even if it's not perfectly synced, it looks fantastic, like the gatefold of ATWAS has sprung to life
  4. Incredible! Never ceases to amaze me how footage like this can lie undiscovered for decades.
  5. Interesting. I can only go by what Broon told us. Certainly by 83 he would have stopped working in the studio with Rush, so unless he's getting really mixed up Ged must have got hold of that bass before then.
  6. According to Wikipedia they were first produced in 1979 (assisted by Gary Young from Pavement's dad, another tenuous link to Geddy).
  7. Not that I heard. I did have quite a few beers though. Was interesting to hear Terry say he's a big fan of the 80s albums that he didn't produce. Also that Geddy recorded YYZ using his brand new Steinberger bass
  8. Nothing about the Signals 40th, but it was a great occasion
  9. On this subject I watched most of the R30 DVD the other night for the first time in aeons. Absolutely tremendous, they really were playing brilliantly then. Great tour Also nice to see Steve Stills bigging up the Rush FWIW. The lads would be pumped to hear that
  10. This is decent too if incomplete...
  11. There is this one now too... It is a bummer that some classic 70s tours haven't been captured on film. I guess they just weren't popular enough at the time.
  12. Maybe Geddy's book will reveal all?.....
  13. I believe the video was indeed filmed in London. Also mentioned here...
  14. I'm attending a Q&A with Broon & Hugh in a couple of weeks, I'll see if I can get some answers to feed back... http://www.rushfestscotland.co.uk/
  15. With Rush In Rio being the peak Must've been really early digital video? I just assumed the source was a tape.
  16. I would've loved to have seen this tour to be able to properly pass judgement I'm no connoisseur of drum sounds but I've never noticed anything odd about that kit from listening to recordings of the tour. Watching the R40 DVD it does appear that Neil wasn't entirely comfortable behind it though.
  17. They'll be screwed when the singer's voice breaks
  18. Surely there will be a GUP one given that there absolutely is live material in the archive to include there? Half the album has promo videos made for it too. A major oversight in retrospect by SRO not documenting the Signals tour at all. I guess it wasn't seen as important merely months after Exit Stage Left was released.
  19. That's a bit disappointing. The Signals tour setlist was awesome and contained a few songs that were either never played live again or resurrected years later in a different form The packaging looks lovely though.
  20. The rest of the lyrics were written by Neil, mostly on the road as you can tell by the inner sleeve... I believe Beneath, Between & Behind were the first lyrics Neil presented to Geddy and Alex. They must've been like "WHAT THE ????!" Re your other point I would agree, possibly because those records were made just a few months apart in 1975. The debut album was recorded two years earlier (the release of Rush was delayed several months due to the 1973 oil crisis restricting the availability of vinyl).
