  1. A concept album that reveals the Klingons of the 22 century have taken over the solar federation. YES!
  2. Finding My Anthem of The Necromancer's Tears Closer to The Circumstances of Radio in a Red Barchetta Driving Through Subdivision Afterimages during a Marathon Mission with Scars on my Face Animating my Driven Little Victory with my Armor and Sword to The Garden.
  3. That would be nice. Would it? Maybe not. I'm not sure...
  4. That's pretty chill. I'll have to check out the song later on.
  5. I say it's a concept album about By-Tor trying to take over the solar federation while Tom Sawyer rides his Rocinante to find help in another galaxy. Oh, and it'll have Hemispheres-esque music. :sundog:
  6. ...what would it be about? What should the music be like? Would it be a one song epic or a concept album?
  7. It is a masterpiece in my opinion, the best thing they've done.
  8. Honestly I would be okay if they toured with Portnoy but it's not gonna happen. I'm pretty sure they're done as far as touring goes unfortunately. That said I still hold hope for one more album!
  9. Thankfully, some of the guys you love were a little more open minded “Peter Criss was as influential to me as John Bonham or Neil Peart. In 76-79, I was the biggest KISS fanatic on the planet! Like Ringo, he doesn’t get enough credit but he influenced millions of drummers around the world. His solos play like a song and I can still sing them note for note in my head. Loved his use of cowbell and he was one of the first to play a mammoth kit. One of the highlights of my career was playing with Peter last year. He’s one of the great unsung heroes of our age.” - Mike Portnoy "In the mid-70s Rush opened for Kiss many, many times -- for months on end in 1974-75. They always treated us well, and even the guys on their crew became close personal friends for years after. Peter was an absolute sweetheart -- warm and sincere. I appreciated his strong and rhythmic drumming -- exuberant and loose-limbed -- and he was always fun and funny." – Neil Peart I know Rush opened for Kiss, but think about it, they were brand new and could use all the help they could get in regards to exposure. As for guys from Rush or Dream Theater being influenced by Kiss that's all fine and good but to me they just sound like a bar band with goofy makeup. But, opinions opinions.

    Halo Effect

Another person not embarrassed. YES! Why would anyone be embarrassed by liking Halo Effect? It's not Half the World, Anagram, Hand Over Fist, Red Tide, Scars, Superconductor, War Paint, or anything off of Snakes other than Far Cry or the instrumentals. But all those other songs you listed are awesome. :(
  11. I just realized, since the title of this thread is a double negative, should we list our favorite Rush songs?
  12. Hmm... It would be a mixture of Roll The Bones and Hold Your Fire with The Weapon thrown in their someplace, I'll have to think about this more for specific ordering though.
  13. That makes sense. For me, I tend to love newer albums just as much as the old. Clockwork Angels is still the #1 Rush album for me, and The Astonishing is in the top 3 Dream Theater entries in my opinion.

    Halo Effect

Geez Lorraine. It's not "Face-Up". Unworthy is "I think I'm Going Bald". Or "The Big Wheel"...most of RTB or Presto. An embarrassment? C'mon dude. I'm not a dude. And, yes, it is an embarrassment to me. He probably prefers it to Xanadu. "More metal" Yeah we know it's not Xanadu OK. Nothing else is. However, Halo Effect isn't excrement. We can point to other works in the canon that absolutely are...Halo Effect is not one of them. It is not Face Up. Or Neurotica. Or You Bet Your Life. O wow...I really dislike RTB... I'm right there with you. Roll The Bones is like...what?

  16. So after reading feedback from albums like Clockwork Angels and more recently Dream Theater's The Astonishing and Megadeth's Dystopia I started to see a pattern. It seems like if a band has been around for 30+ years the fans tend to nitpick and criticize any new work done by them, often more than I personally think is fair or justified. Could it be that these bands just genuinely lost their touch and can no longer produce good music or does the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia prevent certain fans from seeing the flaws in old material and the good in the new? For example, if Hemispheres, Images and Words, or Rust in Peace were released now instead of their original dates, what would the fan reaction be? Please note this isn't aimed at anyone specifically, and it isn't intended to criticize or offend anyone. I'm just asking out of pure curiosity, for science.

    Halo Effect

I agree, beautiful song indeed! I can say the same for the whole album.
  18. Rush is three talented and creative musicians coming together to explore different musical horizons and write music that stands on it's own as good music. Kiss are a bar band with goofy makeup.
  19. My dad wrote "When I leave I don't know what I'm hoping to find, and when I leave I don't know what I'm leaving behind".
  20. I've never had a facebook, so I'm a bit clueless on this all, but that is hilarious.

    Presto!

Presto isn't BAD it's just...forgettable. I like it but it's so unremarkable I often forget it's even there. Roll The Bones I genuinely dislike but I remember it because it's insulting to me, Presto is just..."oh yeah, that exists".
